I too had a problem with our propane hoses on our first trailer. I think another issue with "cheap" hoses is the fact of the cover fitting so snuggly and bending the hoses. The 90 degree hoses from GasStop are awesome! I purchased the GasStop device for our fifth wheel and will get another in a bit.
Hi Laurence and Natalie! That was an easy fix. Glad you got it fixed. Now it should smell better in your Rv. Glad you are a handy man. Natalie must be proud to have you around to fix things. Thank you Laurence and Natalie for this video. Hope you have a great day and rest of the week and see you soon!
We just saw you and Natalie on Switch it Up channel, we have been following Tod & Sheila for a long time now and they have never steered us wrong about channels of other RV related information. Looking forward to watching your video's and if you can come to the midwest in your travels if you have not seen the Ozarks in southern Missouri in the summer months you will be amazed!
Hi John! Thank you so much for stopping by. Todd and Sheila are amazing people and we had a great weekend with them last week. We have so much of the country to explore still. We have lived in the US since 2013 and didn't see much outside of Virginia, so decided to change that in 2019.......then covid hit! But we have a bunch of things planned for this year, and have already started planning next year. If we head past Missouri, we'll be sure to give you a shout for advice and suggestions! Thanks again for you support, we really appreciate it!
@@BrazenBrits One more thing and I promise to leave you alone, we got to tour London in 2018, our friends who live in Bamburg Germany took us and it is an amazing city, so we knew exactly the tube reference. Also we got tour Buckingham Palace since the Queen was in Scotland which was amazing. Our cousin got to see where they filmed Doc Martin which we loved and wish there were more seasons and episodes, if we ever get back we want to go see that part of the UK, thanks again for the response.
Oh geez I'm torn, you and the Waggs support the same thing and when we get the trailer we want to support both of you I'm going to buy 2 trailers just to be fair...🙂🙂🙂...we are sold on gas stop and thanks for taking the time to show us.
Oh man. We totally got the same ones. And the twist on broke shortly after we got them. But love the gas stop thing. And we will definitely be looking into those. Especially the 90 degree adapter. Awesome stuff peeps. Much love
It's very frustrating, as you know, they are not exactly cheap. So far we've really liked the Gas Stop Products and their customer services, having met pretty much the whole team now we are assured they really want the best for the end user.
Chaps- it's strange that it's not advertised better but black knobbed ACME threaded hoses are for the BBQ Grills and the green are for RV. I took the NRVTA's online RV owner class and learned about that! HIGHLY recommend that course to everyone! And SUPER dangerous cutting that hose. 😱😳... I'm glad you were able to finish the video!!!! But thanks for pointing out the hoses from Gas stop- I have to replace our rubber ones since they are cracking and those are exactly what I have been looking for but these guys seem to be the only ones making the RV style hoses in a braided stainless! They are a little hard to find but now you guys just made it easy! I just used your links and bought the hoses and the gas stops! Thank you!!
I had no idea about the black and green! So thanks for the info! It was dangerous cutting the hose, but we were pretty careful. I did it so you don’t have to! 😁
@@BrazenBrits I should correct myself and say the Black knobbed connectors are designed primarily for use with a single appliance while the green connectors are designed for higher demand systems (doesn't specifically mean RV). Cheers!
Just watched your video and thought you might like to know, that the plumbers tape you are referring to (white tape) is for liquid use. The yellow color tape is for gas (propane or natural).
I just ordered those for that reason a couple days ago, missed the discount opportunity! One thing, I think there is a propane specific thread tape that should be used. I'm going to double check before installing mine.
After talking to the Gas Stop guys at the Tampa show, I know they are using your video for a 'what not to do' with cutting that line. They told us of one of the other utubers doing that.
That's awesome! They are a really small team with a really great product and the GasStop unit gives us great peace of mind, mainly from tire blowouts and rig fires. We tried this experiment before and I screwed it up so I had to wait to do it again! I think the other channel was Chad and Tara from changing lanes. Loved their video, but I had to try it for myself! ~ Laurence
Its basically the same thing, but the braided bit just surrounds the rubber. It will still dry rot in time, but The braid means no rodents can chew the rubber and helps with any abrasion from the cover.
The color of the knob indicates the capacity and quality of the pig tail. The one you had first was black is used on grills, your new one is green, the minimum for campers. If you have a high need appliance lick on demand hot water you would go to a red knod.
SO,, does the GasStop device detect a rush of propane escaping the tank? I mean, how does it differentiate between a leak and normal use of your stove?
Hi Wayne, so it only shuts off a major leak, but not a slow leak exactly for the reason you mention. However, the propane level gauge is really useful to detect slow leaks, which is why we check that pretty regularly. I’ll normally take a photo on my phone, then compare it again a few hours later.
LP gas connections are color coded and the correct color for an RV is GREEN. The hose that failed was BLACK and used for BBQ grills, NOT an RV. The grills have a larger orifice and so you push much more gas to the appliances creating a very unsafe condition that Gas Stop will not prevent. You should be very happy something drastic did not happen. Pipe thread tape is also color coded - use yellow tape for gas, white for water.
We had to get the 90 degree adaptor as well. The rubber lines were kinked at an angle that was causing premature dry rot. Gas Stop is great. 👍😎
Yup they make life a lot easier for sure!!
Glad you did this video. We got a gas stop in Tampa and it didn’t fit. Now you have given me the fix:)
Mwahh Ha! Thats awesome, hope it works!
@@BrazenBrits I’ll have to get the new parts for the new trailer.
Nothing like cutting the lines to check the product now that's dedication!
We did it so you don't have to. Not all heros wear capes......but sometimes we do! #switchitup
Mate, your videos are better than VIZ Magazine TOP TIPS.
Plus love the Double Entenders. Finar, Finar.
Wow, Cheers Andy - Top Compliment! 😊

100% agree Frank. The 90 degree hoses are fantastic. SOOOO much easier to get the cover on!

Glad you know what you are doing with that. Scary stuff for us oldies.
Who knew propane could be so fun. But yes, you have to be safe on the road, gas is not to be messed with.

Always good to have a long hose😉
You got that right! 😉
I bought the only one I fouund, well 2 a nd they both leak. Thank you, I will upgrade. I'm sure the cover was the problem.
No problem 👍

Thanks Dean! I hope you realize how long its been since we forgot the endscreens?! I'm guessing waaaaaaay over a year!

Hi. Where is the link for the Gas Stop valves? Thanks.
Sorry we didn’t catch this. Busy afternoon on the pesky RV pads lol - glad you found the link!
good information
Thankyou Angie!
The part you replaced is commonly called a pig tail…just in case others were looking to buy one.
Yes! good point, thankyou Gary

Good information Mark, thank you! We didn't know this! 👍
You should replace the white ptfe tape with the gas rated yellow type. The white will deteriorate and leak.
Thanks RCBearings. Looking into that now! 👍
7:44 DON'T use the white tape, they make a specific YELLOW tape for gas applications
Gas stop all the way!
Team GASSTOP! Lol
Comment for UA-cam 😊
I had to use hose clamps to fix a cheap Chinese hose leak.
It’s such a pain! We won’t risk buying the cheap stuff for electrical, water or propane anymore
If it started burning that fire extinguisher would be like using a water pistol to put out a house fire.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 you’re probably right.

Thank you Janelle!
