Director: William Nigh
A cabal of American industrialists, all fifth-columnists intent on sabotaging the war effort, are methodically murdered by the malevolent Monsieur Colomb. It is only until detective Dick Martin is assigned to the case that everyone's true motives and identities are revealed.
Fascinating bit of melodrama. The actors who got their skills during the era of silent films developed levels of nuance that are lost on most who are acting these days. Those nuances were gradually neglected, but those who develop them always stand out from their peers. Bela Lugosi was one of these. When this film came out, the world was in an uncertain place, which is precisely the basis for this story. It isn't just 'a movie', it has roots in the moment of turmoil that was everywhere. Still, it is 'a movie', and an enjoyable one at that. Thanks for posting it!
Well said.
These old movies tend to be cliche, but they are very cozy and entertaining. Thanks for posting! :-) Have a Great Week!
I love anything that Bela is in and yes he was never given the respect and honor of his talent. He was one of the greatest actors of his time. Sad that he slipped in drug addiction he will always be one of my favorite actors . And thank you for this movie. These old films were the best!!.
Well I didn't know he's flipped into drugs he's was a great actor . what a shame
Nick qfn That’s terrible I had no idea. I love watching all his movies.
Was any of that gossip ever proved??
@@dalemulholland4469 I've heard he wasn't actually on hard drugs, but he had an over dependancy on his prescription drugs, depended on them to help him feel better too much to the point that he overdosed.
That's what I heard 🤷🏻♂️ I don't know what's true.
@@cookiesontoast9981 I became a sort of fan of Ed Wood (fascinating & eccentric movie-maker in the 50s--most notably PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE) and it was said that he befriended Bela in his declining years (Bella died broke) by giving him acting jobs (Plan 9 was one), nursing him through his attempts to overcome his heroin addiction, and being by his side when institutionalized. Unfortunately to no avail. Lugosi was indeed a very fine and, as some may not be aware, versatile actor. May he rest in peace.
I love these "war at home" films, especially the B (or lower) flicks. There are a few Sherlock Holmes and Charlie Chan films along the same lines, seeking out fifth columnists and spies on the home front. Thanks for the upload!
Bela Lugosi, thank you. So underrated, that man.
Yes. But he was a true titán! He was the only, rly talented actor from my country
How was he underrated? He was a huge star for decades. He did pick genre movies: horror, science fiction, mysteries, to act in. If that's the issue, it's the people who disliked or disrespected the genres who thought less of him. His movies-including this odd little piece-are still watched, 70-90 years after they were made. He is appreciated. Not every male star could be Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart or even Randolph Scott.
The cabbie @4:35 is Bernard Gorcey, Leo Grocey's father, who played "Louie" in the "Bowery Boys" movies. Despite the flaws, this was a very entertaining movie!
Black Dragons is a landmark film in the history of incoherent cinema. This film was put together in a hurry after the start of World War II. The movie is vague and confusing, still it held my interest. Lugosi is menacing as Monsieur Colomb, who easily kills and can vanish from moving taxis. This film has a confused script and choppy editing and yet it's intriguing. A young Clayton Moore (The Lone Ranger) plays an obnoxious investigator who does not trust Lugosi. Some may dismiss this movie as dated but I found it imaginative and interesting. ★★★
Lugosi carried this film single-handedly.
This movie really took a different twist !! Thanks for posting
@15:41 ~ That's the 1st time I've seen Bela in a mirror! @1:00:17~ "And you must go on living!" Quite an apropos line for the ultimate Dracula actor to conclude a movie!
Nick: Ididn't know about Lugosi's drug addiction. Don't know if they had pain doctors or therapy then but I like to think he was on drugs b/c they served a purpose, probably to stop pain. GREAT ACTOR; RIP, LOVED U AND UR MOVIES.
I recognized Clayton Moore’s (the Lone Ranger) voice immediately. 💕💕 He made this movie shortly before entering the military.
He had a helluva voice, didn't he.
@@valeriec6629 Very distinctive!
Interesting---thx for the info!
Interesting--thx for the info!
Yes, yes, me too...I loved that guy! I'd have liked to see him in more leading roles...I thought he could have been developed more, with that charismatic voice!
Siempre me gustaron las peliculas de Bella Lugosi
GLAD TO WATCH THIS MOVIE AGAIN I LIKE ALL BELA LUGOSI MOVIES THANK YOU APRIL 15 2019
..where have you been all my movie viewing life? how could I have missed your channel? yikes. Thanks!
Bela Lugosi is one of my favorite old time actors. I love his films. I have watched his Dracula at least a dozen times. 🧛♂️❤
Bela claimed that his accent worked against him, but the studios made him keep it
I enjoyed his movies but it was his booze & heroin addiction that destroyed his career. He quickly gained a reputation of being unreliable to work with. Witnesses say that he died with a fifth in in hand.
@@prevost8686 Tragic ending of life for a gifted thespian!
@@prevost8686 yeah.. Good looking and went to seed quite rapidly.
Too bad.
I, actually thought it was sexy. Separated him from all the others. Very distinctive and original.
@@prevost8686 He was addicted to morphine, not heroin. He went to rehab and came over his addiction.
Gust Durham
This was a very good movie I truly enjoyed it...
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX
"So I can beat you up!" That was a bit of a shock.
Well that was different 👤👤👤
oh this is about Prescott bush and Herbert walker
excellent film. thanks for uploading :)
Lagosi is always good in a movie. But the best thing about this one is to see The Lone Ranger without his mask,.
Thanks for watching! May the Sauce be with you.

They’re planning to build an ammunition dump next to the dam.... what could go wrong?
One of the Best krimi/Lugosi movie
It's a MONOGRAM PICTURE !! Nothing more needs be said !!
. : .
The cab driver at the beginning of the movie was Bernard Gorcey - father of Leo C. Gorcey. Bernard played Louie the sweetshop owner in The Bowery Boys series.
By the way Bela Lugosi is the best Dracula ever 4 me .
Next n line of course is Christopher. Both from different era's.
Not a bad movie, considering the price I paid to see it !
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you.
Saw this years ago in a double bill with a short comedy called "Red Noses." The pairing was funny.
Bela as a conflicted hero.
Thanks Pizza Man!!
That's the voice of "The Lone Ranger" had a great voice! The young ,good looking boyfriend....
To bad our young people are so discouraged and no longer proud to be a US citizen. Our country and the world are going to need brave young people to fight the evil that has shown itself in recent times.
Thank you Sam Katzman, Low budget. High entertainment. For a "best I have" policewoman, she sure did scream a lot. Thanks PF
the lone ranger without his mask he was better in the serials
Incidentally how do you know my name , You'd rather I call you coco natoby , hahahaha
good movie
1:48 atomic bombs on the right side of the screen.
BAHAHA! Took me a minute! Now we know where Madonna got inspiration?
so nice
This flick is slick!
🔥🔥🔥
Now, a lot of people loved this movie, and while I did like it

Bela was a Nazi? Say it isn’t so!
I enjoy these old films and watch one every night, but to call this one Third Rate Rubbish is Flattery
Bela Lugosi was a brilliant actor but this movie is trash.
Damn good thing you don't make a living as a film critic~ you'd be on a street corner by now...
Why didn't they turn on lights?
