Kansas was a band that concentrated on two things: telling a story with the lyrics and making art with the music notes 🎵 They were a truly unique band.
Don't know what kind of music you're into, but in the 80's, a metal band called Savatage took the same ideal into their music. Their albums included a lot of storytelling and classical construction. "Hall of the Mountain King" and "Gutter Ballet" are two album projects chock full of tasty licks and rhythms, blending a hard drum beat with soaring guitar work and piano. They were amazing! So much so, that their music influenced the founder of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the founder of Savatage, Jon Oliva, became a member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra because of that influence and collaboration.
@@thatmanxguy I'm certain you'll find something you like, if you like a rock/classical mix. This came out when I was in high school. I bought the Kansas "Left Overture" album and Boston's debut album. My brother bought Meatloaf's "Bat Out of Hell" album. To this day, 40+ years later, our mom still shakes her head when we talk about it.

There were so many talented musicians back then and it was nothing for a song to last 15 minutes or more. Other artists like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Peter Frampton, Steve Miller Band, and many more.
I hold that Kansas was a great underrated band. They were/are stunning musicians who put music together like a symphony would be put together. People never understood the depth of their talent.
I've seen them seven or eight times in the last 15 years. They are one of the best performing bands out there. If they come ANYwhere near you, go see them.
They used this in the previously on all the season Finales of Supernatural. It became the unofficial theme song for the show since it doesn't have one it just shows a title card. It gets me pumped everytime I hear it. It was so big with the fans that Kansas actually played it at one of the Conventions.

I was telling myself to keep on looking and I would find what I sought."

One thing about all these great bands from the 70's guys is that everything then was "Analog." You actually had to be proficient at playing your instrument or singing if you were a vocalist. God I miss that era!
That's why they were calling musicians not artist. Most had classic training in music. Example: Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. It is written in the classical "Rhapsody" style. That why is has movements to the song.
It's possible that you are remembering the song from TV...it was the theme song to "Supernatural". Kansas is an incredible group! I love watching Lex react to rock music because she lets it move her. Her faces are great as well!

Not only is it actual people playing actual instruments to make a perfect song, most of these rock bands partied so hard it's a wonder they could stand up through an entire song nevermind perform it! Lol
I love y’alls reviews! Lex’s reactions are so authentic with rich interpretation. She gets to the essence of the music and her voice is do beautiful. I love Brad’s concentration when a song from back in the day gets to the good part. Your concentration and bouncing to the beat just kicks up the beats. I’m not good at putting things into words but I really like these songs even better when I see twos reaction to them the first time you hear them. Keep up the good work. You are doing a great service to us fans and the bands that you review.
Kerry Livgren not only was the song writer, but he composed each instruments on music sheet. So, he could have recorded the entire album by himself. He a genuine rock legend of his day.

There’s a Baby that lives in my apartment complex. Four door, black. Impressive considering I live in the suburbs of Brisbane, and the Impala was never sold in Australia.
There's a genre of 70's rock called progressive or prog rock. This falls somewhat into that category. Progressive rock music has several changes or different sections in the songs and not just verses and chorus. Your comparisons between talent and musicianship then and now is pretty accurate!
Just subbed a few days ago. Love the reactions with Brad looking like he’s in deep concentration and Lex doing somersaults beside him lol. God I wished I had her energy. Speaking of soups I happened to be making stuffed bell pepper soup as I type this 😁 Also congrats on the 100K! 👍
What Lex is saying about that "energy" 70s bands have I TOTALLY get that, exactly how I feel when listening to this, and especially Boston. It's kinda going hard like some of the 80s hard rock stuff does but it also has that out of body peaceful vibe, it's relaxing energy even though that doesn't make sense.

Not only is it actual people playing actual instruments to make a perfect song, most of these rock bands partied so hard it's a wonder they could stand up through an entire song nevermind perform it! Lol
Always Love Lex’s reactions she’s always moved by the Music ....
Supernatural for 15 Years!!! Winchesters theme song!
Lex don't you dare lose that 70's vibe it is so contagious!!!
Kerry Livgren not only was the song writer, but he composed each instruments on music sheet. So, he could have recorded the entire album by himself. He a genuine rock legend of his day.
Love your energy you two! Imagine seeing this performed live! I almost took it for granted.
This was a great reaction!
Normally Lex is the one always boppin’ but Brad looked like he really enjoyed this one 🤘
Love the piano!
Soup du jour 😅
La soupe du jour, est bonne !
You guys are my new reaction couple
Straight to the music
Great commentary
Yes, KANSAS was a 70’s staple
They have many more jams that you need to investigate
Lex is the shizzy mcnizzy. Your take is perfect. Love it!
All I can picture is Sam and Dean in a '67 Impala. Fighting demons and using rock gods as aliases...
There’s a Baby that lives in my apartment complex. Four door, black. Impressive considering I live in the suburbs of Brisbane, and the Impala was never sold in Australia.
No fear...I was 9 when this came out.... I'll be 55 this year
All I can see is them in this song! 😁
The road so far…

Now I miss supernatural lol. This is a song to supernatural final episodes of every season.
There's a genre of 70's rock called progressive or prog rock. This falls somewhat into that category. Progressive rock music has several changes or different sections in the songs and not just verses and chorus. Your comparisons between talent and musicianship then and now is pretty accurate!
Pink Floyd, Rush and Yes are prime examples of prog, too, so it's not a totally alien concept to them.
Prog tends to put an emphasis on either being jazzy and experimental, or on telling a complex musical/lyrical story - oftentimes both.
I love it when lyrics actually mean something. Great lyrics worth reading.
Lex RIGHT....70s greatest decade for ROCK,NO DOUBT!
Just subbed a few days ago. Love the reactions with Brad looking like he’s in deep concentration and Lex doing somersaults beside him lol. God I wished I had her energy.
Speaking of soups I happened to be making stuffed bell pepper soup as I type this 😁
Also congrats on the 100K! 👍
You guys would like Chicago. They've got a badass brass section. Also 70s. Mostly.
Kansas musical geniuses beloved worldwide they filled stadiums. ❤️
Ms. Lex nailed it. This song has about six different hooks to it. Well, Done sis
Love me some Kansas. Some other great songs by them "Miracles Out Of No Where" "Icarus Wings of Steel" "Song For America"
One of the anthem rock band of the late 70s early 80s
Kansas
Journey
Foreigner
Styx
Reo Speedwagon
Boston
Just take a second and look at that list. MAGNIFICENT!!
One of the best reactions to the song I’ve seen. She got it! It’s a banger and the talent is off the hook. Tasty
Steve Walsh's vocals back then were so fantastic! One of my favorite singers from that era.
She has the same face I have every time I hear this song!!
