Filmed in the spectacular surroundings of the Arena di Verona, a Roman amphitheatre originally built in 30 AD. This concert from the summer of 2011 sees Deep Purple joined on stage by a full symphony orchestra for performances of all their classic tracks. Deep Purple remain one of the finest hard rock bands on the planet and are undoubtedly at their best when performing live. Here the orchestral arrangements give an added depth and range to the familiar songs and the band respond to both playing with the orchestra and performing in such a historical location to deliver a brilliant show in front of a huge and enthusiastic crowd.

Like often with live concerts it will probably make a big difference when you were there, especially when it was in such a wonderful, historic Arena. To be reminded of how truly great this band once was may be enough at a night like that.

Cool Venue!!! The tempo is slow, Steve Morris on guitar makes up for it, lol. In early to mid 80's (High School yrs.) The Dregs and Steve Morris were my fav band. While everyone was into Ozzy and Motley Crue, I was the nerd that listened to Jazz, Fusion, Jeff Beck, etc.
Steve Morse is a fantastic player. His solo album, The Introduction, is one of my favorite albums of all time.

man, when i try to compare this against any of the much earlier deep purple live tracks, it just kills me to watch this, i appreciate they are all giving their all on stage but space trucking at half the speed, without the so high you could claim it would dwarf a skyscraper vocals and most importantly without the killer drum fill midway through the song, it just kill me

croci17 Molto bella, hanno fatto solo i loro pezzi accompagnati dal'orchestra, non pezzi scritti apposta per l'orchestra (come il Concerto for Group and Orchestra del '69)....
I don't know, but to me this song doesn't sound right live without the Mandrake Root improvisation section that they used to do at the end of this song.
It was the energy this song was building up to what made the song such a exciting live sensation in my opinion.
It doesn't sound right without Blackmore and Lord (R.I.P.)

Thank-you for the upload Eagle Rock. Sad to say,in my opinion, that this concert was a pitiful attempt at reliving their glory Years as one of the Great Rock Bands. Ian Gillian just could not hit the Notes for the song and should not have even attempted to try. The Band was not even shadow of their former stage presence.. I've always loved their Music and saw them live in the late 70's but the last thoughts of this once great band will be how sadly the played in 2014.

C'mon folks, the greatest part of Space Truckin' has always been the *instrumental* portion... Whatever happened with that?
They dropped that since Blackmore left, why they did it, i don't know, but it's a mistake i hope they'll restore one day.
But after seeing this i don't take me hopes up sadley, a very bad version of a song that was once an opus amongst thier live shows.

This performance saddens me. Space Trucking with no energy and the classic fret runs replaced by strange harmonics and Gillan can no longer sing. Can't take this sad representation of Purple or Blackmore's renaissance fair music... : ( Jon Lord RIP
He actually sounds better here than he has in a while. He should definitely quit trying to scream, because he can't do it well anymore.
This is not Deep Purple. This a couple of old members milking the brand.
