To be fair spectating in Age of Empires 2 would actually be a realistic way to cheat without getting caught. If you had 1 computer playing the game and a second computer spectating your game then yea you can know exactly what your opponent is doing at all times. Having that ability is game breaking and in truth how often does it actually happen? There is no way to realistically know who is spectating. If someone had a second account on a cheaper computer they could spectate and have a realistic cheat way to win games. If you know what your opponent is doing it is really easy to kill your opponent. I used to spectate games when I was first dipping my toes into ranked, because I wanted to know what I was getting myself into. One game, someone noticed me watching, and accused the other player of spectating three minutes into the game. Five minutes later, it was raided with light cav and the first player freaked out and said it confirmed his opponent was spectating and that he was gonna report him. It was such a comedy of errors.

Feels like both players have gone through the art of war stuff/watched build order videos as they're both doing stuff in the very early game that 15+ years ago I would have considered fairly high level. But neither have a lot of experience playing online and blue in particular doesn't seem to know what counters what (i.e. don't sent an outnumbered handful of infantry into a unit that hard counters infantry). That being said, both of these players have more experience playing online than I do so what do I know haha I should at least attempt a few games and see what happens. I don't think I'm inexperienced enough to appear in this series, but I'm by no means a good player despite playing AOEII for over twenty years.

Hera recently published a video called "Are You Afraid To Play Ranked?" where he summarizes several fears new players have - as I do, since I never had the courage for years. 🙂 There was one obvious yet interesting point - once you stabilize to your real ELO, an inherent property of any ranked system is that you HAVE to lose approximately 50% of the time (unless you're top 10 player).
