Thank you Yaya! I love your videos and I Love this gel! That blue color is everything!! Do you think that I could add menthol crystals to this? If so, how could I adjust the formula?
Thanks for the video. I do got a question. Are we able to make hand sanitizers with this recipe? Idk if it'll be safe to mix the alcohol with this powder. Thanks! 😊
I bought these product and mine has been trashed so many time . I don't no how to make it out of the % can you help me out or if someone read this that can. I suffer from joint pain and would love to try and make this for myself. Thank you
Do not use a homogenizer or an immersion blender with this. You will cut all the polymers and lose your viscosity. Carbomer is one polymer that is very sensitive to high shear which probably why your second formula ended up runny after your vigorous stirring. Also test your pH to check if is compatible with your preservative. Also propanediol is water phase ingredient and isn't a solubilizer so there a possibility your essential oils didn't dissolve. I would've added the oils at the end of the formula. With polymers your methodology is very important that you can't just switch things around. Also oil of wintergreen contains salicylate so do not overuse it.
We are all here to learn, so I appreciate your comment. However, 1,3 Propanediol is very much a solubilizer. This formula/solution is 96% water. There is only one phase. All of my viewers may not have the “right” equipment, so I was showing them how to switch up the method to make sure the ingredients will combined well. This is why I didn’t initially add all the ingredients directly into the water. However, I did do that for the 2nd formula. I did not use an immersion blender for the 2nd formula. The 2nd formula was not runny and the viscosity was and still is a beautiful gel. My comment was that it did not absorb as well and was not as uniform as the formula with the solubilizer. I did adjust the final pH, just not on camera. My comment was that the Carbomer I am using is pre-neutralized, so it would gel up without initially adjusting the pH; while the non neutralized carbomer version will not. I have used an immersion blender plenty of times with carbomer, HEC, Aristoflex AVC and other polymers and it works just fine. You can definitely add the essential oils at the end, but more then likely, they would eventually separate from the formula like I explained in the beginning. I also explained that wintergreen should be used sparingly and/or tested for those with sensitive skin. Keep in mind, I cannot fit every detail into a short video. I help share guidance, it is up to the viewer to use that information, add or substrate to fit their needs. We are all here to learn and I love taking all advice or criticism, but it seems as if you didn’t watch the video at all. I truly hope this helps. 💙✨
@@YayaDIYCreations sorry i didn't mean to be negative. I just see a lot of misinformation on youtube from "formulators". I did watch the entire video. With polymers though method is very important to get it right. You can use high shear with carbomer sure but once it's neutralized you have to use gentle stirring if you want to keep the thick gel structure. Propanediol is water soluble so not sure how it will dissolve oils but I'm gonna have to double check the tech sheet. I would probably have used a polysorbate instead though. Wintergreen's concern is not sensitivity it's salicylate toxicity so i just wanted people to be careful because you can DIY yourself to an emergency room in case they get excited with wintergreen. Anyways, i hope you don't take my comment the wrong way but more of sharing information or initiate discussion. We're all learning and wanted to share as well. Have a nice day.
@@mdml0 I do not want any of my comments to come off as negative either. I am always open to learning and sharing information. I encourage my viewers to do the same. I have also learned so much on this platform. I only share what I have experienced myself. There are risk with anything that you do and that is why I always have a disclaimer with all of my videos. I am self-taught and this is a hobby. I love sharing what I have learned from a lot of trial and error, practice, inspiration, and research. I have never claimed to be a “formulator”. I also state that it is the viewers responsibility to refer to their primary physician for any medical advice. Misinformation is a strong word. There is so much that I have learned over the 10 plus years I have been doing DIYs and a lot of my older videos have many mistakes. That is because I was learning, growing, and sharing with everyone my mistakes and growth. My audience learned with me. Now that I know more, should I remove those videos? Are they considered “misinformation”? We are here to learn and mistakes come with that. I never claimed this was the best or perfect method; I am simply sharing what worked for me. Please always share information. Critic if you must, but there is a way to do that. Even if you disagree, we can have a conversation. A lot can be misinterpreted via text or comments and maybe you weren’t referring to me when you said “formulators”. I will apologize now if anything came off as rude.
This should be possible, you will have to expect some differences in the final product though. This will include the texture, skin feel, clarity, and even color. I hope this helps. 💙✨
As far as I am aware, no. The closes ingredients to essential oils that are water soluble include hydrosols or flower water. They are not as potent though.

@@mdml0 no disrespect, but who’s to say that you’re correct?
Pleac teach us how to make glycerite
Can magnesium “oil” be added in place of water?
Will it work if I replace propandiol by HEC? Kindly guide.
Is it possible to use Poly 80 to mix the oils with the water phase instead of that other ingredient?
(ik this is a bit off topic but) Have you ever tried adding carrier oils to your hair gel formula?
I make magnesium gel then add the essential oils and they combine well. I clicked on this because I’m looking for a methylene blue serum recipe
I'm also curious...did it separate?
This would be amazing with some menthol crystals diluted in the water first
Or Peppermint oil
Wow 🤸🤸💫
This looks amazing, very well detailed, like it!

What if I added a little neem oil? How 🤔 might this change the gel?
Can guar gum or carrageenan be used instead of the sodium comber?
