Me and my wife just got a 2023 SE hatchback - we couldn’t be happier. Incredible value; we drove it off the lot (with the extended warranty) for about the same price as a Civic Sport hatch *starting MSRP* ! It’s averaging 38.5 mpg across all driving conditions, handles like a dream, and is surprisingly peppy in Sport mode. The combination of size, features, cargo room, practicality, presumed reliability and value are unbeatable.
Thanks for watching and commenting. And a hearty congratulations. 🎉. The SE hatch is quite the car. In a couple years you will be ready for the GR Corolla. 😉All the best to you and enjoy your new ride!
I just bought an overpriced 2023 SE model. I had no choice. I am very pleased with the car. Estimate on a full tank of gas is close to 400 miles. I do have driving modes (normal, sport, and eco) and I have both hand touch locks (just touch the handle if your FOB is nearby) and push button start. I think with all the driving assistance systems it has, it nearly could drive itself. I’m impressed and pleased. My wife has a 2020 LE and I do have to squeeze to get in her driver’s seat, but in my 2023, I have to stretch to touch the pedal with the seat all the way back and I am 6’0” tall. I did have a rattle that only showed up on a road under construction within 1.5 days of driving the car off the lot. I brought it back to the dealer, took a test drive with a mechanic and we found the cover on the camera above the rear view mirror causing it. He took double sided tape and tightened it up. No more rattling. He also was going to report it for redesign as it was the second new vehicle he found this in. I will say, now having the car just over a week, I am pleased with it and glad I bought it. If it had been the LE it would have been okay but I think I would be a little disappointed compared to the features that seem to be standard in the SE.
Thanks for sharing and congrats on a great car. The SE is a great trim level and given how long these things last it’s nice to have the extra features. The SE looks great also. Glad you got your rattle fixed. They are notoriously hard to get the techs to hear and fix. Thanks for watching and happy motoring.

Great question and thanks for watching. You are right, I forgot to mention it but yes, Toyota has standardized on the direct shift first gear and larger motor across all trim levels.
I have a 2023 Toyota Corolla SE I purchased in February. Ordered it and waited four months for it. My SE does have a manual trunk release outside the back of the car, just above the license plate and slightly to the right of the Toyota emblem. I would assume all trim levels would have this trunk release. Love the car, by the way.
Congrats on your SE. and thanks for the info on the trunk release. Sure this particular one also had the release in the same spot. All the best and happy motoring.
Nice! Unfortunately, many new 2023 Toyota Corolla LE are being sold for several thousand dollars over MSRP. This is due to very high demand and very low supply. I've been trying to buy a 2023 Corolla LE gasoline sedan here in Dallas for the past 5 months for MSRP. No luck so far.
That is very unfortunate. I called some dealers in the mid-Atlantic area and they all wanted 1-3k over for those on the lots or coming in soon. Most (3 out of the 5) said they would do MSRP on orders. It’s all insane and looking forward to when this all comes back to bite them. That’s why I suggest checking other brands like Mazda. Stay in touch and let us know if you have any luck.
I test drove Corolla last Monday. I got a Kia Rio after facing markup and poor trade value from Toyota. Got the car 10k less than Corolla, and got 5.6k more for trade.
