Well, this might be interesting. At least I feel your pain having owned and driven examples of each of your cars on the Tail of the Dragon. In fact, I just drove it last weekend and had a blast in my Saturn Sky. I rate your cars as, 240Z most comfortable, RX7 best for racing, Miata most smiles per buck.

At that point just replace all the bearings for security because if that one was gone how much time is left on the others.
Was it a 4 speed or 5 speed? If 5 speed and its a later 5 speed "b" series after 1983 or newer you can swap the bell onto a 240sx/d21 transmission for an upgrade. If earlier gorilla raceworks will mill the housing out for larger front bearings and may sell a driveshaft kit as well. They also do a cd009 conversion to get a 6 speed in those cars. With a 240sx/d21 trans (both different length) I believe driveshaft mods will be needed. They should also be the same length as the long tail 720 transmission (2wd or 80-82 4x4 (4x4 we're divorced t-case) the 4x4 case will not have a speedo input in case though if original trans)).
15/16ths is smaller than 24mm
DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5.1 are all interchangeable.
its only DOT 5 that cant be used in the other systems.

I don't know this transmission specifically, but some boxes have the oil level just a little too low to reliably lube the countershaft bearings. Nissan put out a TSB for the first-gen Pathfinder/Hardbody pickup advising overfilling it through the shifter, and then moved the fill hole up a little on the next redesign. Not sure if they had the same problem back in the Datsun days, but that would be my guess for what killed it.
Removing a transmission and building it is like removing a persons legs and making them longer for better top speed…. I’m high
