@@Theophan123 Regain past glory? It was just a city with the majority Greeks. A city which burnt down by the Turks which stole whatever remained, like beggars. Go to Wikipedia about Smyrna, it has a photo of a Greek couple with a Turk posing as a third person. Come back to tell me what you see... A Turk without shoes and teeth. Plus, all the photos you see here depict Greeks. For a while the Greeks in Minor Asia were dressing up like French, suits, hats etc.
@@Theophan123it was never about regaining the glory past, but it was always the aim at liberating historic hellenic areas were the population was completely or majority greek or having significant greek populations and were under foreign (mostly ottoman, bulgarian and later albanian rule). Smyrna was one of these areas, since the majority of the city's population was always greek until 1922, that's one of the reasons why the broad area of Smyrna was legally given to Greece in 1920.
I'm not Greek, but I feel your people's pain in losing Smyrna and other Greek cities across the Aegean, but most of all losing your one chance of regaining Constantinople
The worst? These people, the Turks, kept stagnant one of the most progressive people, us Greeks with their obscurantism, darkness and Islam and now? All their wealth is being generated mainly by our two main cities, Smyrna and Constantinople. It's like as if their yok and keeping the entire (at least Western) world back wasn't enough, now it's like mocking us. They turnt even Hagia Sophia into a Mosque for Snackbar and Minarets. Lately, they want to be called "Europeans" as well. Even more lately? They began saying, they too, were the successors of Rome/Byzantium. Such delusion, such boldness, only by low intellect people. The beautiful Orthodox Hagia Sophia full of Orthodox paintings turnt into a green wall inside and they step barefoot with their stingy feet. However, there's one the song for Constantinople, too. Give it a try and pay attention to the words. "Once again after times and epochs, shall be yours". All Greeks know the verse. Things might change with other ways, you never know. Our population declines while theirs, as Muslims, increases, but as I said, you never know.
They didn't take it from the Turks, it didn't belong to the Ottoman Empire then, it was legally given to Greece and the majority of the population of the city was never Turkish, it was always greek until the 1922 massacre and fire in city's greek and armenian quarters. You can say whatever you want but the facts about Smyrna are facts.
Your ancestors thought they could hold Greece, they tried with sons of Christians (jenitsari) with Egyptians (Ibrahim passa) and with Albanians (Dramali) to take Greece and they get out of here with their b*tt hurted. Dont try this again because your b*tt will hurt again.
Two Great Grandparents from Smyrni, 3 From Pontus and 1 from Cappadocia. God willing, we will liberate all of our homes. ☦
Love from your brothers 🇦🇲, Smyrna will bear the banner of glory once again.

Some people don't realize how the song really is
A longing for what was lost, after so much time and sacrifices of trying to regain past glory

Your ancestors who thought they could take Izmir from the Turks, ran away by swimming. Don't think the same.
