Yes! being able to change lenses allows you to use different focal lengths as well as faster lenses. Really handy if you want both ultra wide and really tight shots. 😁
@@elbaring8031 I currently shoot most of my sit down videos on my Canon EOS R, but I used to shoot a lot of it with the canon EF-M 22mm for EOS M! Great option for a wide angle lens with great background blur!
I’m debating between the two, I wanna use it for vlogs because I already have the t8i for photography but it’s too heavy for vlogs. Any recommendations?
I would say the M100 is definitely better for still shots. The sensor would have more dynamic range, better low light iso performance and the option to switch lenses to something like the 32mm F1.4. But that's not to say the G7X is bad at all, after all the zoom range is longer and a better max aperture compared to the M100's kit lens.
I wanted a compact camera for video, and didn't want to drop $600+ for the Sony ZV-1. I was leaning towards the Panasonic Lumix LX10 , but also found the Canon G7X and M100. So thank you for the info. I might be leaning towards the Canon G7X III (for the audio jack) if I can find it for the right price.
Cool video! I am actually looking at buying a camera and the M100 caught my eye because the price was so good for what you are actually getting. I wanted the g7x but the price mark up is a bit crazy
Yeah the G7X is definitely up there in terms of price. Even though the G7X is more compact, the value on the M100 with Canon's dual pixel autofocus is so good! Thanks for watching! :)
It's been a while looking for a camera. Being mobile UA-camr it's easy and save lots of time but I feel I need to step up the game if I want to do more then just vloging. For some reasons I can't turn on the notification bell It says content made for kids Maybe a bug or settings. Cheers ✌️🇯🇵🇦🇱
I really like the simplicity of a mobile setup though! I wouldn't downplay the portability and ease of use, thanks for stopping by :) Hmm I don't know why it's not working...
This was the Mark I! There's only a few things that are different in the Mark II version - namely the bounce flash, can change the control wheel from clicky to smooth, can flip down the screen 45 degrees, micro USB charging, and it has a grip at the front. Not major improvements in my opinion.
I have the canon G7x Mark ll, but it always sound like a fan in running in the background. I don't know if I got dud 2 years ago. I'm looking through my old videos to hear if it has always sounded like that.
@@TheBarePantryShow That's probably the image stabilization motor running in the background. I had that as well in the Mark I version. It's more noticeable in sit down videos in a quiet place, so if you plan on doing a sit down vlog turning the image stabilization would stop the whirring sound :)
If it's mostly going to be for travel and mainly videos, I'd probably go for the G7X mark ii for it's size. The main benefit of the M200 is that you have the better Dual pixel auto focus and can switch lenses which is also good for photography (it does have 4K, but it's heavily cropped and basically unusable). Either way, both really compact cameras and great options :)
@@KyleCWong thank you so much. I’ll check that. I really love the camera, but use it for my face while is use the m50 for B roll and the audio. The M50 has too much of a golden hue for certain things that I do with food.
@@TheBarePantryShow no problem! another way you can record audio is if you use a lavalier microphone. There are lav mics that you can either plug into your phone or an external recorder which you can sync in post for the budget option. Or if you wanted to sync it directly in camera, the RODE wireless Go is a good solution too :)
I've had that happen to me in some instances outside, I think it might be the but no issues inside. Maybe it would help to use a micromuff or something fluffy to cover the mic? Or could also be something to do with the wind filter or attenuator setting in your menus
金格格Cecilia Jing 哈哈 that was me I dropped my g7x multiple times before it died and cracked the screen. The M100 is nice because it's nice and cheap. But since you're used to Sony, you could also take a look at the a6100 or a6400 depending on your budget :)

im using canon m100, the reason i pick it up bcs of the interchangeable lens 😂
most of my vlogs were taken by canon m100 👍

I think if you only want to use it for vlogging, either one is a great choice. If weight and size is your biggest concern, the G7x is the way to go!
Great comprehensive review.
How would the combo of the M100 + EFM 11-22mm f/2 compare against the G7x Mk2?
Ahhhh I have the classic canon g7x! Super easy to use and straightforward which was the biggest appeal for me
That was the reason I got it the first time around! I miss the simplicity so I picked up the M100 as a drop it and forget it camera :)
Canon g7x mark 2 or m200?
This might be a bit old but, which one of these cameras are better for still shots? And also is it a big difference in image quality?

which camera do you use to record your videos?
