I used a curtain to cover by bench. I just used huge safety pins to attach it. I folded it like a gift. That way I could take it off and wash it or replace it when I got tired of it.
The mismatched shades are darling! Things from our past are precious and rare. This speaks volumes simplistically. My home is hard to change because of dark oak woodwork, but I do want to paint stars on the ceiling of the living room. I'm more of a kooky maximalist than a shabby chic girl. I love how you decorate and get some terrific ideas despite our differing styles. I've learned a lot about making a vignette from your channel.
Yes! I love that the 3 lampshades don't match. 3 lights are perfect. I think a 5 or 6 arm chandelier would be too chaotic with different shades. You always surprise me with your wonderful ideas.❤😊💡

I loved seeing a picture hung beneath the chair rail in your foyer. I hung a large framed photo under my bathroom window. It was the only space large enough for it, and the first thing I see when entering. I have a coastal bathroom, and my daughter took the photo of a dugout canoe on the beach in Tanzania, which reminds me of a childhood experience I had.
I have refreshed many piano and sitting benches over the years. I don’t have any upholstery skills but these are SUPER simple to do,wrap around and staple! Some of my classiest yet inexpensive fabrics from the thrift store have been from custom drapes. Some designer suggested raw silk to their clients and now I’m buying the panels for a dollar each! (Even one odd,lone panel goes a long way.) 🤭🙌🏻
The birds on your ceiling and light look delightful! My husband painted a sky with puffy clouds and birds on the ceiling of my daughter's room when she was younger. We added glow-in-the-dark stars. She loved it.

Can I just say I love the black. Everyone well, not everyone but a lot of us are afraid to use black because we feel like it is going to make a space too dark or feel smaller but it is just the opposite. After watching you I finally took the plunge and painted my doors black when I put the first coat on the first door. I thought oh no what have I done 😲but I have learned over the years to complete a project before judging and to realize it is just paint and it can be painted over if you hate it. I did not hate it ha ha ha I loved it, and I have gotten so many compliments. Thank you for helping me boldly go where I would have never gone before ( Star Trek reference intended )😄

Yes, you could paint your cabinets with chalk paint. You will need to use wax on them when you finish and again about once a year to maintain. Painting my kitchen cabinets was one of the biggest improvements that I have made to my house. You won’t be sorry.

Back un the day, when stenciling was the MUST for home decor 1994ish-my sister stenciled a garden on an arched wall in my new house. Part of the hollihocks and some other flower continued up to the top of the arch. She added butterflies ,if I'm memberinf correctly, flying birds in clouds. The wall and arch are about 24" wide. It was a really fun housing warming gift. She was so creative. 😊
I l o v e the mismatched Glass Lamp shades ! That is something I would do , because not everything needs to be " Match-y Match-y " .it adds character and uniqueness. I like the " Mini Makeover " idea... you might do a monthly Series or something(?) ..., its so relatable. I am a " Burd person ", lol.. so I liked how you did the bird stencils, .. and I like the new light fixture, so much more attuned with the Room. ..although...I'm not too sure about the Rug... like you,I saw very little Green in it ,lol. I've stenciled on a ceiling before and it was a spectacular success. I did the corners with a French inspired pattern and it elevated a simple guest bedroom that became my Mom's bedroom and she loved it.
That light fixture with mismatched globes has so much charm and character. I love the birds! I had a room painted once with blue sky and clouds and that roof leaked! I never tried it again lol. Your mudroom looks great!
I love the shelf over the window in the laundry room. I have a window in my laundry room so that is doable for me. Our home was built in 1970 so I loved the update on the cabinet doors that is something else I could try. The birds on the ceiling look great but my ceilings are all popcorned so I can't do that. I like the antique on the fixture better, although it looked good solid color. It does make it seem like an older piece, like it belongs there, more cottagey, in my opinion. Love the gold bird stencils on the ceiling and putting one by the door, makes you think of birds outside in flight. Everything you did freshened up the place and added a lot to it. The window in laundry room is the bomb. Love all of them, mismatched shades are so perfect too. Peace!
I really, really liked the mismatched shades! I didn't think I would, so that is a real eyeopener for me. I also loved the original green and gold birds light....it is still beautiful....but I fell for the first example....and the birds on the ceiling? I LOVE them!!! I am seriously considering where I could do that in my house!
For bench cushions where I don't want to use zips, I make a big version of a pillow fold - with the 'pocket' or flap to keep the contents in place. I make sure this is on the lower side of the seating pad and is deep enough to hold things firmly. That way there is no need to unpick and resew for washing. As you say, if it is in an alcove or against the arms/ends of a seat, the opening never shows. Love your upgrades!

Love the gold bird stencils on the ceiling and putting one by the door, makes you think of birds outside in flight. Everything you did freshened up the place and added a lot to it. The window in laundry room is the bomb. Love all of them, mismatched shades are so perfect too. Peace!
I really, really liked the mismatched shades! I didn't think I would, so that is a real eyeopener for me. I also loved the original green and gold birds light....it is still beautiful....but I fell for the first example....and the birds on the ceiling? I LOVE them!!! I am seriously considering where I could do that in my house!

For bench cushions where I don't want to use zips, I make a big version of a pillow fold - with the 'pocket' or flap to keep the contents in place. I make sure this is on the lower side of the seating pad and is deep enough to hold things firmly. That way there is no need to unpick and resew for washing. As you say, if it is in an alcove or against the arms/ends of a seat, the opening never shows. Love your upgrades!
