  • In this video I review Castlevania 1, on the NES, as a part of my possible series on the entire franchise. I have nothing to plug so I'll only link you all to the Castlevania discord, and ask for (and thank you for) your support!

Dude wtf, YT recomended me this video and I just assumed it was your new one. I really liked it and was getting ready to comment that it was your best one since your first viral one about TF2 (that I really enjoyed and made me subscribe).
This was really well done Kaluka, I really think you should continue with the original intent of reviewing every castlevania ever. A second part could lead your new amount of subs to watching this video and really hit it up. I specially liked two moments where I felt like your were kinda throwing shade to Egoraptor's videos on Castlevania. And, therefore, was really looking forward to watching your reviews on Simon's Quest and Super Castlevania (along with the rest of them). I think you should intercalate this reviews with the more recent kind of videos you are doing now but not get the wrong impression that this was not a good idea or poorly executed. I was really getting geared up to tell you how good this was when I realized this was your first video and really said WTF man?!
Keep up the good work, man, whatever you end up doing.

Simon flying back when he gets hit is so fucking annoying. Had to set the controller down a few times before I destroyed my house.

I get that's it a review of castlevania, but you use that name so much to the point where the script starts to become really repetitive and it's easy to notice. Replacing "castlevania" with more lines like "in this game" or just describing a mechanic without mentioning that you're talking about castlevania or a game can fix this.
Even throughout the video, the same words are used to describe something way too close to each other in the script. A lot of sections also suffer from using language that's really simple. I'm writing this part as I watch your analysis of which rooms are "good" and "bad", and you use both those words a lot. It makes the analysis kind of drag on since the viewer is pretty much just hearing you say "this room is good" over and over. You can either use less examples (which I think is a good idea as we understand what you mean after the first few rooms), or use other words to describe them other than good or bad.
When you talk about what spear armors can really do, it kind of comes off as redundant as you say they're never really given room to shine right before that. Also, what do you mean? You say this, but don't provide an exact example of how they can be made better.
You also restate your point of the game's rooms being decent a lot in that entire segment.
The stop watch joke feels too much like an editing error to really come off as a joke. I think what would have been better is actually playing the noise the stop watch makes and then pausing the video while remaining silent for the duration of it.
There should really be some background music in this as well.
Overall, the script could be written to be more concise. There are many instances where the repetition is hard to ignore, and I could have listed more than what I did above but I think you get the point.
Despite that, I still enjoyed the video, and I found your analysis of the game to be a lot more unique than others. You come from a perspective that doesn't like to cheese fights and blame the game for your mistakes, which is something I don't see a lot of. It definitely shows your familiarity with the game, and all of your points seemed fair.
