  • The Hoka Cielo X1 is Hoka's premier racing shoe of 2024. Dual layer PEBA foam, a "winged" carbon fiber plate, all combine to make a very fun shoe!

Love the new format, also Very excited for the Cielo X1. As a back of the packer this is definitely on my radar for a first super shoe

I really think that’s where it’s going to find the most success with runners! Great shoe overall and a lot more stable and robust than most super shoes for sure

Def love the new format. Especially starting with the intended use. I like your take on swapping, it and using it more as a super trainer. And pushing forward with the Rocket X update as the primary super shoe

Thanks man! Just trying to organize the reviews a little better and breakdown the shoe in less of a "good" v. "bad" light but rather talk objectively about the different elements because shoes really come down to preference. Preaching to the choir here though haha! I still need to try the Skyward X cause I'll be curious Hoka's take at a max cushion super trainer too. This already reminds me so much of the SC trainer so we'll see where the Skyward falls!

I'm diggin the new format. Makes the video more organized! The Cielo has got to be the heaviest race day shoe on the market right now right? Did you notice the weight? Or towards the end of your runs?

Definitely noticed the weight on longer runs. I still think it may be worth racing in for some people due to the stability and comfort but if youre used to super shoes then that extra weight becomes super apparent

Man, these are going to go so well with my blue corduroy suit. 😉
Those laces remind of the rolls of lint you get in an arts & crafts shop, though.
I like the fact that they've thought about durability on a supershoe with the rubber outsole.
    Thorough review. GG.

haha! I love the look but I really like bright borderline obnoxious looking shoes
I think that Hoka did some really nice things with this shoe, I just wish it was a little bit lighter. Regardless I think a lot of people are going to be big fans of it!
      Appreciate the comment my man!

I’m going to be running in the Ogden half next weekend. I have been trying to decide if I should use this or the endorphin pro 3. Why do you think it’s good for downhill? I like this shoe but walking it does get unstable to walk in and as a 200lb heal striking runner I find the rubber on most super shoes really disappears fast and the cielo x1 has for me had that same issue.

For me they are the most stable and supportive of all the super shoes I’ve tried this year. That is going to have some subjectivity though. So for a downhill marathon where I get the momentum of the hill I take the cushion and stability over the pop or snap of a faster option. If you feel more stable in the pro 3 though I’d go that route

Hi, which shoe would you choose for a 240lbs runner breaking 3:30 hours in a marathon?

It’s super individual, this could be a good choice though! The sc elites from new balance are also great for
      Those wanting more cushion

Starting at 7:30, "Personally" + "In my mind" - nice effort in qualifying and placing your opinion in context...but it seems as if you're being defensive in language of what you're about to say. I feel that's a limited use problematic shoe for anyone other than forefoot/ball strikers. That PEBA midsole has stability problems for midsole & heel strikers and dips laterally, which is unsurprising when you consider the shoe is made of race day and I believe ball strikers with less than a 24 bmi at maximum. I think you know of the stability issues with the shoe and hence the extensive qualifying in language. I think you're better off saying it, "Many have faulted the shoe's stability for midsole & heel strikers" and then state your opinion. Why? If a person is unfamiliar with the x1, they don't know why you're 'bending over backwards in qualifiers" in speaking to the stability of the shoe. You're better off placing all you say about the shoe's stability in it's full context. I think it's a great shoe for forefoot/ball striking by a light weight runner with excellent mechanics. I can ball strike up to about 5K, but I have a 26 BMI and even ball striking can feel the lateral sway with every strike - returned the shoe for that reason.

I’m not a forefoot striker and believe this is the most stable of all super shoes released in 2024. It’s ok that your experience was different than mine that’s why I say “in my mind” and “personally” because my opinions are not fact but my experience.
I don’t watch others reviews before I make mine as to remove any outside influence. I can only speak to my own experience
