Why didn't they just make Pokemon Origins into the main series?
Tada Suko Better question is why didn't they let Ash age gracefully instead of making him immortally 10 and warping the timeline? Of all the things they could have stolen from Digimon why did they copy temporary evolutionary forms (ie mega-evolutions) vs aging the generation one characters and making new gen 2 and 3 trainers? I'd love to see adult ash as a side character in a new story kind of like Naruto and Digimon have done.
Pocket mon was originally a dark story in Japan. Red had Pokémon die in front of him. So they made a more kid friendly version which is ash from pallet town and the changed some of the story.

at 11:03 when Red "Disappears" I believe that Red represents us players as the main character so what i mean by that is if you were to be defeated the game would blink just like Red did as he "Disappeared" just think about this for a moment you will think that the game has ended but it has not :O so what i'm trying to say is that... Red Was defeated then went to the Pokemon Center That was in a close area not accessed by us (Gold/Silver players) And then Red Remembers the Fun in Battling and decides to Retake his journey which was to become the Real Pokemon Master! Gold won because we're controlling him. If we were controlling Red he would've won. Player >>>>>>>> any NPC. However, Gold has no NPC depiction. So technically Red is still the "strongest" NPC in the games.
I sometimes rewatch this video and it makes cry every time. It has a special place in my heart: I feel I totally fit in the words you said. I "broke up" with Pokémon after completing Platinum... No interest at all till the news for ORAS came out. It was just a spark, but I decided to buy White and Y to see what I miss during those years. Now that fire burns more than ever and I even play competive matches. Thank you for the great video :)

You've done an excellent job explaining how Red is an extension of us, the player. And how we were attached emotionally and psychologically with our Pokemon.
"Dr. Oak saves him from being killed by the LV.2 Pidgeys that populate the cities." Best. Line. Ever.
One thing that pisses me off is when people compare Red and Ash. The usual thing you hear, "Red completed his whole pokedex and became the champion in 4 episodes."
First of all, Remember that Pokemon Origins skipped most of Kanto, and only focused on some aspects of the story. The regular Pokemon anime actually travels through every single town, and every route in the region and has side stories in every episode, Origins (Red) did not.
Second of all, Ash has six Pokemon, which are all quiet useful. Red on the other hand, has 6 Pokemon, and only one is useful. Red gets his whole team creamed throughout Origins and gets saved by his beloved Charizard. Ash's Pokemon are all at an equal level and are all quiet useful.
Lastly, they both have different goals. Red has his goal right from the start, to capture all the Pokemon and fill the pokedex. He did it, and even became a champion along the way. Ash's quest is only to become the very best, but let's admit, it isn't going so well. We have to focus that Origins is based off of the games, not the manga. In the games, your Character (Red) progresses through the game capturing Pokemon and becoming the champion, if that didn't happen, it wouldn't be like the game at all.
I'm not a huge Red vs. Ash fan. Frankly I don't care for it. But it's annoying to see how people compare this and that with them. It's just an anime people, Just enjoy what was given to you, and be quiet.

Treesicle I totally agree. As a band director, my students all freak out when they hear I still play video games, let alone pokemon. They all think I'm the coolest teacher ever and constantly ask me to battle them. I say no since I don't want my kids Friend Codes. They'll just constantly harrass me. hahahaha.
If I were one of your students, I would totally want to battle you. If I ever got denied, I would probably say " are you afraid of the bonds and power my pokemon share with me. Are you afraid to lose against me." I also think it's school that you play pokemon. Wish I was one of your student but I can't really play an instrument. I want to play the ocarina though. Also if I sound rude when I said what I would say, I'm sorry. I think Red is on Mt.Silver because in Kanto, he caught all 150 Pokémon but was missing Mew. So he searched and searched Kanto but then gave up and went to Johto and found new species of Pokémon. Red found out that Prof.Oak didn't tell Red about there being more than 151 species of Pokémon. Red had a mental breakdown and went to Mt.Silver. Red has been in Mt.Silver for so long(2 years) that he forgot how to communicate with other human beings. After Gold defeated Red, Red went to other regions in search of Mew. After long searches in other regions, Blue found the Alola region and wanted to help Red fulfill Prof.Oak's dream. That's why we find Red and Blue in the Sun & Moon game.

It's just like we see Red in the others games. I'm not sure WHAT games exactly because I'm a Gen 1 and Gen 7 person. I basically skipped Gen 2,3,4,5 and 6.

Pelon 003 Maybe its because Prof. Oak fixed their Pokèdex and configured it by mixing their catched Pokèmon so they they can easily catch other Pokèmon that isn't caught.
In Emerald you should have been able to do all three regions then be able to battle Gold. Bring the three games full circle.

When I first faced Red in Crystal version I actually felt a sort of defeat. I originally played Yellow which with all starters and a pikachu I was happy to be a powerful trainer. When playing Crystal trainer Gold made me feel that same nostalgia I did when I played Yellow. When the final battle started I saw all the pokemon I was using in my previous game going against me as their enemy. It made me sad but it was something I saw it as a challenge to myself. I cannot explain what I felt but I felt a sort of defeat and victory at the same time. I was happy I won, but also sad because I felt like I lost something deep inside myself and I guess it was that connection I had towards Red and how it felt to actually lose something so close to my own heart.
That part towards the end about dying obsession really struck a chord with me, especially about the "defeat that just didn't sit well". The peak of my Pokémon obsession, during the early fourth gen, was also when I got into Action Replay, and I became fixated on the three Mythicals of Sinnoh: Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus. I had a dex completion cheat, but that wasn't enough. I wanted these three for real.
I had found cheat codes that had worked for the first two, but an Azure Flute code couldn't be found. I got so desperate that I rejoiced when I found an Azure Flute code that actually put a mailman in my PokéMart! But it didn't work. Every time I talked to him to accept the item, the game froze. And the only way I could think to delete my file.
Five hundred hours and all my Pokémon from Pearl and Emerald, gone.
It really made me feel like nothing was permanent and that ambition will be your downfall. That's when my interest in Pokémon began to decline. I began to notice that I paid less attention to previous generations once the next game came out. I feel less attached to my Pokémon these days. I still loyally buy the games, though, and my interest is slowly coming back with competitive battling. Maybe I'm returning to the Pokémon world just like Red is: on my way to a world tournament.
I know the feels man, mine was the original battle frontier where I spent days coming up the perfect unbeatable team. (I really grew attached to my Blissey heal tank and my resistant to everything but 5 types Registeel.) This is where I learned about EV's and IV's just so I can gained the edge against the impressively hard Frontier brains. I even used my gameshark to speed up the training process (make certain pokemon spawn to train ev's really fast, then rare candied them straight to 50/100 with unlimited tm's/hm's) but would never use it to cheat the battle frontier itself because it was personal. Especially the battle dome. I wanted to be the dome ace with the biggest crowd.
My ultimate downfall came where My team finally got to floor 70 of the battle tower and challenged the Tower leader. but lost hard to raikou/curse lax. so I spent 2 weeks coming up with the perfect team (Counter Blissey with toxic that can heal everything/ Calm mind latias tank that could not be resisted due to dragon claw/surf/ and Resting tank Registeel with toxic AND sesmic toss for constant beautiful damage.) battled all those floors till the 63rd floor I think, I had to fight a curse T-tar that wrecked my team. Blissey was my only hope and survived until the last pokemon was a focus punching machamp. he one-shot my 763 hp blissey....I cried that day. was never the same and turned to mmo's for a while lol. still remember how I selected counter only to have a panic moment as I saw machamp tightening his focus, watching as all that hp drained away hoping to survive in the red to counter for the win. the horror as that hp hit 0.
I kept buying the games but I find I can never get into like I did back then. hopefully if they release the battle frontier again for alpha sapphire, I might make a strong comeback like red did.

Dalton Gillen No. There's no connectivity whatsoever between Gold/Silver and Ruby/Sapphire. The internal coding for generating Pokémon was completely overhauled; your mons from the first games aren't compatible.

Best video on Red I have seen. Humorous and philosophical at the same time. Red’s departure mirrors my own. I grew up. Plus the idea of catching all 150 then having to catch over 200 next time, and then over 300 made me lose interest. But like Red, I came back years later and realized I don’t need to “catch them all” to have fun.

if you play as red you can, but raichu is actually a downgrade from a fast pikachu which I think is a hint.

You can't say "it's official but there wasn't a clear winner", that suggests the fight ended in a draw or something.
The fight itself is NOT CANON, them ABOUT TO BATTLE is canon.
There is no canonical outcome of the battle; i.e. the players themselves decides who we sides the most with.
Just like it's canon Red caught 150 Pokemon and after beating the Elite Four and battling+capturing Mewtwo he caught wind of Mew and set out after him. Canon ends there.
I go through periods of time where I basically forget about Pokemon and not touching my games for months to being obsessed with it again and playing all the games and thinking about it nonstop
