Still happening ? It is now happening. I doubt any people in 1834 or at any era would have run toward a mother bear and her cubs while carrying his own child. I'm sure people have never been as dumb as us in History.
You're so right. What is wrong with these people? I saw several bears last summer while taking my daily walk in my area. The minute I saw them, I either backed up quietly or turned around and ran away-- also quietly. NO shouting; not calling out. Just hoofed it. And, I'm not ashamed to say, I hid from one. I'm pretty sure the only reason I wasn't attacked is because they didn't notice me. The first one was huge and the second was much smaller-- which scared me even more. A small bear is a cub. Cubs have VERY protective mothers. Who doesn't know this?
As a country bumpkin, and having worked in a bear sanctuary....I cannot understand being so disconnected from nature/reality that you see wild animals as props rather than living things that can get pissed off.
That genius picking up his daughter and running FULL speed towards the bear and her cubs... just... wow. Maybe these people don't have 3 braincells between them, but if a mama bear sees humans, especially if you get too close, they will completely DESTROY you, rip you into shreds.
Seriously. Running up to a deadly wild animal is crazy, but running up to a deadly wild animal with its cubs right there is suicidal. I feel like the only reason it didn't end in a massacre is that they looked like black bears (which are usually pretty skittish, they're the scaredy cats of Bear World), plus they're likely used to lots of dumb humans being around and have been desensitized to the idiocy.
I'm so glad to hear someone else say "Why do you need a picture? There are plenty on google images" (Paraphrased). To try and show off and advertise their lives: "Hey everyone, here's a video of when I could've been really enjoying myself but instead took this video! Because I prioritise online validation over the thing I'm trying to show off with".
Facts. Back in the 90s early 00s every big concert and event was professionnally filmed and sold on tape afterwards. Now we have the concert filmed in small parts, from 1000 angles with a shaky lens and shitty sound and lighting. Yeah, nice improvement.
And that one guy looked to be climbing over the railing to try to get a good picture. I thought the people with the full set-ups may have been professional nature photographers for a second, but professional photographers know and respect nature and wouldn't dream of doing something so dumb.

The problem isn’t that the bear is scared. They’re not. They’re annoyed. Think about it when are you more likely to snap and lash out at someone. When you’re scared or annoyed and irritated. The animal behavior you see in parks is not their typical behavior and they’ve lost their fear of man. That doesn’t mean if you push their buttons bad things won’t happen.
Getting mauled by a bear probably has to be one of the worst way to go. Those people are crazy getting near that bear. I heard most times you’re still conscious when they’re chomping into you.
Not directly related but this world is going absolute nuts. I'm from Australia and went to singapore for a holiday recently. Literally everyone was living like a zombie. Trains and buses were FILLED with people watching their phones. Most people waiting in queue to pay/order food were literally mindlessly scrolling shorts constantly without even paying attention to what they were even doing. All public tourist spots were completely filled with people doing tik tok dances with their cameras set up etc. The only place there was no one doing this was a tree top bridge i went on and that was only cuz it was bucketing down and no one was there. You can see how people's attention span is definitely being affected as time goes by. Soon babies are going to genetically adapt and be born with alzheimers😂😂😂
The phone zombies are everywhere. This technology is warping our collective brains, and it's absolutely terrifying. I recently left my doctor's office and while driving through the parking lot, I saw a young woman standing in the middle of the parking lot where a car could have hit her, and she was staring at her phone. She finally came out of her stupor, looked around, and then walked toward the sidewalk. Another time, I was driving through a residential area at night, and a woman crossed right in front of me while staring at her phone the entire time. she was wearing black so I barely saw her and almost hit her. It's like they honestly think the world revolves around them, and they can just cross in front of or stand in the way of traffic without any repercussions. It's infuriating.
I heard a story about a foreign family visiting Yellowstone. The dad put the whole family in the hospital, lined them up and sprayed them with bear spray. Thought it worked like insect repellent. 😅
Jesus I am speachless after this one. Then again, I don't know why it shocks me. Running TOWARDS baby bears with momma bear REALLY close, with your daughter. Damn!!! That's a new low. I never will forget when I was in Yellowstone on business about 10 years ago. Saw a bull moose take a couple of tourists that got WAY too close. It was fantastic. He beach balled one of the idiots like a seal in a circus, and I just kept driving. I made my living as a paramedic, now retired, but I figured this was a good Darwin Awards example.
Black bears are usually pretty calm. You're safer around them than a pack of feral dogs. That's not a high bar, by the way. And they'll tear you up a bit better if they get angry.
Being a resident of Yellowstone National Park, I have been laughing so hard at your Touron videos that you finally convinced me…. I started subscribing to your channel today. Thanks for the laughs, Joey! 😂🤣

This is even more important as the animals lose ever more habitat while simultaneously being harassed by dipshits who've not only never seen animals in the wild but apparently never even watched any nature programs on PBS for fear of being instantly turned into 'communists'. PS-- I grew up on a farm long ago and fully grokk the strength of even domesticated animals; I witnessed a 600 lb pig sow nearly bite a 2X4 in half as we were vaccinating her piglets in the stall next to hers. The squealing drove her into a towering maternal based rage that scared my brother in law and I , even though we were both veterans of this type of husbandry procedure having done it for years. We need to introduce bears into the suburbs and cities. Would make for some amazing content and people would be getting so much cardio by running away (or towards them in some situations) so much, the obesity crisis will be long gone.

0:35 I saw this at Edmonton National Park , stupid tourists & wild bears .. stopped on the side of the road, blocking traffic 🙄🙄
They can smell you
Better believe that
The guy who was sprinting towards the bear 😂 I've never wanted a human to be mauled so bad
Hilarious commentary, and so true! The sheer stupidity and inconsideration of tourists in national parks is astounding. Humans suck.
As a country bumpkin, and having worked in a bear sanctuary....I cannot understand being so disconnected from nature/reality that you see wild animals as props rather than living things that can get pissed off.
This comment does not have enough likes!
Yeah, I can't believe how stupid people could actually get. They are so stupid. Words can't describe their stupidity.
Thank you for calling out stupid people. You have a new sub

I'm so glad to hear someone else say "Why do you need a picture? There are plenty on google images" (Paraphrased). I've said this for so long- especially people videoing gigs that are literally being PROFESSIONALLY FILMED!
How many pictures do we need of bears? 😂 Hilarious.
You tell me, crying laughing emoji.

Some people really treat the real world and nature like it's their own personal amusement park. To see tourists running away from a bear chasing them just goes to show even more just how little they know or care about the animal beyond it being a social media status symbol.
Who could blame an animal for mauling or attacking a person. Let nature take its course and feed the animals, everyone wins.

I feel sorry for the animals 😟 These groups of lunatics are circling them and scaring them, and there is nobody to help...
What’s worse is that if the animal attacks it will get put down. Not even fair lol
Scaring the cubs away from the mother, if only for a moment, must irritate the hell out of her
Yeah the animals must think what are these wild animals, how to get away.

Every Single day of my life I hate humanity more and more. Social Media just showed us how horrible we really are..

Getting mauled by a bear probably has to be one of the worst way to go. Those people are crazy getting near that bear. I heard most times you’re still conscious when they’re chomping into you.
Yeah that's true with hyenas and painted wolves as well. Unlike big cats, they don't kill their preys first they just dig in once they catch one.
That first bear is a grizzly or brown bear. This is the most insane thing I have ever seen.
Yeah, they’re not very efficient predators s and don’t tend to kill their prey quickly or cleanly.

Soon babies are going to genetically adapt and be born with alzheimers😂😂😂
god, that is really sad.
Dystopian.
They’ll self-abort.
I hope no one does this when driving.

Black bears are usually pretty calm. You're safer around them than a pack of feral dogs.
That's not a high bar, by the way. And they'll tear you up a bit better if they get angry.
they should try petting grizzlies.
They really want nothing to do with people. Just don't make one nervous and you'll be fine.

@@frozentspark2105 No, we watch PBS animal specials and have been educated on respectful treatment of wild life for decades. The commentary is hilarious. And accurate!! People are stupid in every realm. As a flight attendant I saw the absolute worst side of the human race. That's the reason I love animals more
one time in the woods i saw a wild boar cub. i was both very excited and freaking terrified.
i was entirely too close for any respected boar parents to not intervene. i just stood there silent. watching the little fellas who was surprisingly cool with being so close with a person, but at the same time ready to run. but, no other boar showed up. i even sit after a while. it was just me and this cute furry little pig. he stayed like 5 meters from me, never came closer. i felt like swarzenegger in that pic with all the animals XD. then a couple of other hikers showed up, they immediately made a fuss by taking out both phone and a camera from a backpack. making the animal sprint away.

We need to introduce bears into the suburbs and cities. Would make for some amazing content and people would be getting so much cardio by running away (or towards them in some situations) so much, the obesity crisis will be long gone.
There are thousands of live nature cams watching all kinds of animals living their daily lives that we can learn from without interfering. I get great stress relief from watching raptor nests, eagles are especially chill giant murder birds. This is just sad.
These are the people that pushed me into not wanting to go on vacation anymore.
The stupidest thing you can do when you encounter a wild animal in the wild is to run towards it.
