Picked up 2 of these in 12 gauge last year . For the price you can't go wrong .... a little break in and a little polish , and it's a pretty slick shotgun .... just give'em a good cleaning right out of the box before you fire any loads through it ,,, helps a lot ! Only time will tell how well it'll hold up , but if you take care if it, as with anything , it should last a lifetime ..... I also picked up 2 of their single shot 12's ....just for fun 😉 ....
My guns hang every 3" round , I ran 50 shots through it and only 1 time did it load the next round. How many more boxes do I need to waste to get it to cycle correctly.?
I'll stick with my good ole Savage Stevens single 20. Dad bought it for me, youth model. Used it till my thumb would give me a bloody nose, then decided I better order a longer butt stock. Had it 56 years now.
I have one of these 12 gauge love it once i broke it in no problems shoots anything i put in it feeds fine and ejects fine well worth it enjoy yours buddy
Bought one at Walmart for $200 the other day and it shoots and looks amazing like it better than my mossberg and for a semi auto at $200 can’t go wrong!
Hi, As far as those Turkey loads...All I'll say is "Better you than me"! Boy, those things do kick! I did notice one thing you might want to look at. The little tabs on the back end of the foreend should be tucked into the receiver. I had to squeeze on the bottom of the foreend before they would go in on mine. Still have to go out and put some rounds thru mine. I got a 20 gauge that worked fine, a .410 that was a dud and now this 12 gauge. Hoping it works and maybe yours will have to break in and smooth out the rough spots before it passes muster. Thanks for posting this and may your channel be a success!
Thanks bill, it didn't go as great out of the box as I would like for it to have run but I do think it will break in and start running right. At least it functioned perfectly with the low brass shells.
It'll probably loosen up like you said and end up good to go. I would say storing it with the bolt open for a day or so might speed it up but usually that just helps if it doesn't wanna feed the lighter loads. Unusual to have the opposite for sure. I was in Dunham's today and they had three and a half inch 1425fps turkey loads...I ran as fast as I could!😂
Yeah for this gun specifically I really don't care if it doesn't shoot the high-powered stuff. As I mostly use number six game loads for squirrel, and usually seven and a half shot for dove. And I do think it will break in quite well. I may take my Dremel and some Polish and polish the bolt face as well.
Never got to shoot mine. Pulled it from the box slid the barrel on and the buffer tube was stripped in the receiver that holds the butt stock on. It has been at Hatfield since Sept of ‘22 waiting for it to be fixed or replaced with a new gun.
@@HamiltonOutdoors No, I took it to a gun shop and the owner has handled all communication with them. Got notification they were just looking at it and would send confirmation if they were to fix or replace it a couple weeks ago. Hopefully soon there will be a update with date of arrival at the shop.
I think after a few rounds through it it'll be all right. I'm really pleased that it functioned well with the low-powered shells as that's what I shoot about 99% of the time. Usually number six shot game loads. Thanks for watching Jeff
Had a problem on mine with the gas piston ring falling off. Hopefully yours stays better and dont forget to get your warrenty on the website within 30 days of purchase lol
I bought the very same shotgun a Walmart and wouldn't cycle at all. Nor would it eject properly. I SAW a vedio on UA-cam suggesting that you use a dermal to buff all the parts that slide or move together. Well. I just that now it cycles like butter it's pretty awesome now.
Yep they all behave the same. I tore mine down. Degrease, use hoppes oil and replaced recoil spring with Benelli super 90 reduced power spring from wolf $12. Runs good now
I forgot to tell you about the switch on the trigger group to set the dog in the bottom ,you are doing good as far as breaking it in ,mine got much better when I got above 50 shells ,good shooting Sir.
How long is the break in cycle? I’ve shot about 30 birdshot and 15 magnum 3” buckshot and it cycles the buckshot like a dream but still won’t eject or reload regular bird shot.
Hope you have better luck with yours than i have had with mine. I've had it a month and I've got to shoot 10 rounds through it. Waiting on my third gas ring. So far I'd give it a 1 out of 10.
Love mine when I get a new gun rifle shotgun I always disassemble clean and oil it like I already shot 1500 rounds though it to get familiar with it and make sure everything it a okay never had one hiccup with mine
I have seen about 5 reviews about this shotgun and all of them have a problem, loading and shooting the gun. I guess I'm not going to be buying one of those anytime soon. God bless
Well to be honest it did have some hiccups in the beginning. But I just posted a video today of me shooting three different hadfield SASs and the 12 gauge is running everything I put through it now. Thanks for watching I appreciate it
The older version came with two different pistons. The newer version has a self-regulating piston that is not supposed to need to be changed in order to shoot any load
@@metalderek8376 the first generation came with the second gas piston to change out for heavier loads. The second generation has a self regulating valve and you do not have to change it
Mine was junk! Bolt locked to rear and wouldnt release. Metal filings in receiver. Wouldnt take shells...mag tube bent. Choke tube got stuck in barrel after 25 rounds. Removed with easy out...replaced with Carlson choke tubes...thicker wall.
@@HamiltonOutdoors thanks for reply, just got mine yesterday only had 10 shots through it before I ran out of time every single one wouldn’t eject. Going to try and clean it and get a variety of other ammo and give it another shot. Wish it came with attachments for a sling!!
I have the 20gage Hatfield sas 3in shells doesn't want to keep up and feed but the 2 3/4 will. Have you had this problem with 20gage if so how did you fix it?
I have had no problem with the Hatfield 20 gauge but I have only shot two and three quarter inch shells through it I haven't tried any 3 in shells. But mine has worked really good after the first few initial break-in shots no problems after
I have a hatsan 12g here in the UK semi auto shoots everything but doesn't like anything lower than 28gram but she'll size from 2 inch through to 31/2 inch pretty amazing, shot pigeons with it and waterfowl, wish I could use it for deer but we are not allowed to use shotguns for deer here only centrefire rifles so can't buy slugs for it as our laws for firearms is draconian we have have licences for our guns either a firearms certificate for sporting rifles or a shotgun certificate for shotguns, so will need a firearms certificate to purchase slugs
I have heard good things about the Hatsan shotguns. Great to have a viewer from the UK. Yeah alot of gun laws make no sense. Here in the US a lot of States have ridiculous gun laws as well. Thanks for watching and your feedback. I appreciate that.
The first generation guns came with two gas Pistons one for regular loads and one for Magnum or 3 inch loads. Did you buy your gun new? It might be missing the standard gas piston.
Sir Love you and young harts. Its semi single shot shotgun :) Maybe needs cleaning and some grease. I have Weatherby element. It's well but I don't like the sight. I love my A5 too 2/34 I have Benelli supernova. It's heavy and hard. I want to sell it 3/5
The Gen 1 Hatfield you did have to change the gas piston, on the Gen 2 that is no longer necessary. And my 12 gauge is running flawlessly after a short break in period
Just saying that hun doesn’t shoot winchesters good the Winchesters get stuck get some federal shells and you will definitely se a difference I had the same prob with mine put some federal and that hayfield shot normal again nice job buddy
Actually on the older models they came with two gas Pistons one for low pressure rounds and one for high pressure rounds. The newer models do not have that they have a self regulating gas valve. So they do not require the changing of gas Pistons. For light or heavy loads.
I thought the gun was broken out of the box, as a seasonal dove hunter I wasn't happy. Well one year later looking at the gun and talking to a few experts (friends & family) a new gun, coils still tight, use a higher brass. It works perfectly now 👌
And sometimes you get more, after the first initial break-in rounds. This gun is currently running flawless with everything I put in it. I may do an update video on it at some point the show how well it's functioning. Thanks for watching
Unfortunately I can't afford to spend a $1000 on a shotgun, I'm glad you have that ability to do so. Some of us just have to settle for less. Thanks for watching.
Same thing happening with me, I disassembled it, cleaned and lubed and it runs flawlessly
Hi thanks for your videos on Hatfield shotguns I bought two a 410 and 12 gauge learning alot from.you
I took mine and disassembled it and used a fine stone and took the burrs off of everything and man what a great shooting gun. Great video

Nice, thanks for watching the video I appreciate it
My Hatfield SAS 410 does the exact same thing as the first set of rounds you shot! Is there a way to get past this problem so it will cycle properly?
I had to send mine back and they said it was unreparable. So you might take it to a gunsmith and let them look at it.
Hope you have better luck with yours than i have had with mine. I've had it a month and I've got to shoot 10 rounds through it. Waiting on my third gas ring. So far I'd give it a 1 out of 10.
Sorry to hear that, I've gotten about 150 rounds through mine so far with no problems. Hope you get yours running.
I had one of them shot it 200 shells jam 194 times
Mine was doing the same thing for a while I think they reccomend a 200 round break in.
Yeah I think it's going to break in just fine. I'm pleased it was shooting low brass 1200 ft per second ammo flawlessly there at the end
Mine only cycles high brass. Hoping it breaks in and cycles everything
It should break in, pull the bolt back and leave it locked back for a few days that will help loosen up the spring quicker
@@HamiltonOutdoors great idea! Ty!
My Weatherby has different pistons for high brass and low brass. I generally get away just using the light load piston.
The first generation hatfields were the same way. They came with two Pistons. Thanks for watching the video

Does that have any type of gas adjustment for shooting light to heavy loads or does it work for any shell will no adjustment?
