- The budget E46 finally has a fat turbski on it. We found a bran-used cxracing kit for sale and brought her home for some ying yang spooly boi things. This chinese tornado dispenser is gonna send the pistons in the stock M54 to outer space but we dont give a hoot.

Lol while watching these guy fill up the oil I said I wonder if they put the oil plug back. Guess the oil spill answers that.
Saw the manifold and heat wrap and thought they'd have to wrap each pipe individually. Must have forgot I was watching budget bimmers, obviously they are just going wrap the whole thing all at once and call it mint.
Mani rap is no good. Keeps heat in.
@@andrewwright. But that's why they did it 🤔, better to have the heat stay in then come out in this situation.
@@andrewwright. That's the point. A) Heat helps the turbo spool quicker B) it keeps things from melting as much.

i broke my oil drain bolt in the oil pan even worse on my e46! had to buy an extractor set but i got it out

@@resdyne9590 i own two wrx one 20g big turbo 5psi when I first got it and td04 18 psi on the other... cars were damn near equal all about the tune etc too but why else would ya need a bigger turbo
I just finished my e36 turbo build, had a similar issue, do research into something called a “maf clamp” you put a voltage restricting diode between maf hfm wire and ecu and send it to ground which will prevent the car going into limp mode. The problem is the maf isn’t meant to see boost, what’s happening is the massive air going through the maf is cooling rapidly the wire and causing the maf to read erratically causing the ecu to think the maf is bad thus putting engine into limp mode, you can also have the maf rescaled on the tune.
Is that what it’s called? Voltage restricting diode? I’ve been researching to do the same

The turbo sounds like straight up taken from NFS MW. It sounds perfect. The M54 packs some boost. Never expected it would run that good

Damn I miss my old E46 330ci it was so much fun and best sounding 3.0L. Even though I have a fairly quick f30 328i it's just not as enjoyable as the m54 3l. The f30 is a comfortable daily but you don't feel like throwing it around making the rear end dance like the 330.....E46 side project coming soon.. 😁These guys are hilarious... 👍
No LSD on E46 not even as an option though. F*cking BMW and their "sports" cars. Even E36 318is had one from factory.

The Siemens MS43 engine management system is pretty sweet and easy to tune for forced induction. Have done a couple of them. A collegue's E46 330 with M52TUB28 (yes, swapped from M54) just last week produced 460whp on E85, GT35 turbo and 875cc inectors. Just find someone that properly understands how to tune it and you'll be fine. Ideally you should run E85, but premium gas will be fine too with conservative timing. On M54, which doesn't have a return line from the rail, you need to put in a proper linear fuel pressure regulator with return line back to the tank to compensate for the increased intake pressure. Also, the MAF from the M54B30 with a 1.2Kohm resistor on the signal with compensation for this in the software is a real nice mod to do.
Im building my 325i for the CXRacing turbo too and the best part is seeing that your E46 is facelifted as well 👍🏽👍🏽

run a ford or nissan slot maf, in the stock location, just have to tune the curve in, i used a nissan 22680-7s000 and it work amazing dude

Hit my knuckle with the angle grinder when I was doing control arms on my e60 550i and had to go to the ER. It was so hot when it happened I didn't even feel it, and it was a very deep cut, but it didn't bleed a drop until much later.

Just a heads up guys I deleted the ac on mine a few days ago and the Fans were constantly running at high speed ever sense. I needed to remove the ac pressure sensor from the receiver/dryer and plug it back it. Fans stopped immediately.
I did the same thing in my Harley a couple of weeks ago.......filled it up with oil from one side then walked around to see all my new oil on the other side of the bike on the ground🤓
Hollar at GEP tuned. My buddy just boosted his m52tub25 with the CX kit, makes 350ish on 8lbs. George tuned it all remotely using the stock dme.

Right now probably 8psi on pump, over the winter we’ll probably do the head gasket and maybe beef up the bottom end to push more

Every person who has ever turbo’d has said this is a fun reliable car we are about to f up...... lol without forged internals and proper lifters rockers, cams the crank etc. a lot goes into getting a motor proper for turbo.

😂 definitely the pipe is why the car shut off. Had that problem all the time in my Subaru. It throws the maf off which causes the shut off

Did you have to put a thicker head gasket to drop the compression for the turbo? If so did you have any issues like stripping the head bolts in the all iluminum block and head? Did you use an ebay turbo?

How do you make a turbocharged 325i street legal because you would need to get it tuned but without standalone does a piggyback for a/f tuning work well enough?
