    Personally, the best feature of this tire is the 240 TW rating. The old Pilot Sport Cup 2 was a 180. 180 is below the threshold for many SCCA classes. The new tire is now legal for my class in SCCA Solo and Time Trials.

      I don't think it will be good for autocross. I bet the dam tire won't even heat up to fast on autox course

      @@justinevanitsky7161 Not the ideal tire, PS4S would be a better choice. Maximum grip only comes after warming the Cup 2 Connect tire to the optimal operating window, and during extended track sessions, you'll be able to manage that. AutoX isn't structured in a way that takes advantages of these tires. With AutoX your car will sit until your class is called (tires are cold), you start your car (tires still cold), you wait in line (tires still cold) and then you launch the car down a 2 minute obstacle course. Once you're done, you park the car and wait and the tires cool down again. By the time you've completed the course, your Cup 2 Connects may not even be switched on yet. Tire warmers are the best way to get the tire ready to hook off the line, but honestly, the cup2 will slide if its not warm enough. With a run for 2 minutes, rest for 30 minutes AutoX session, the cup 2 isn't the tire. Plus for most AutoX you never leave second gear, so the low speeds you're doing wont be putting much heat in the tire either. In my experience, AutoX is the poor mans track day. Look into more dedicated HPDE track days at legit courses, it'll be way more fun

    so with the sport cup 2 connect tires being a 240 treadwear, is that going to grip more than the older 180TW cup2? Is the the new treadwear rating based on the fact the connect tires have 20% deeper tread?

    This is super interesting! I wonder if they’ll expand their sizing availability

      They plan on releasing more sizing in phases, and then I'm sure the tech itself will trickle into other models as well.

    I ran both on my Porsche 911 and I hate the track connect tire. On track I believe they’re at least 1-2 seconds/ lap Slower than regular Cup2s plus the feel is not there. I would almost rather run 4S at the track.

      Hi Kirby, did you compare them against N0/N1 PSC2? Do connects feel softer or harder? For how long did try to run connects before switching back to regulars?

    • @kirbydinari
      @kirbydinari Рік тому +1

      @@kirillart I have run to 5 - 6 sets of Cup2s both N0 and N1. I don't know if there was a differnce in feel connects vs regular (softer vs. harder). I ran the track connect for 2 track days and a hill climb before switching back to the regular Cup2.

    I don't give a half a shit about pairing an app with my friggin tires. But, unfortunately, it's basically impossible to find "normal" Sport Cup 2s anymore. As long as these are the same TIRES (sans gimmicky weirdness), I guess they'll do.

    The PS4S outperforms the old PSC2 in the wet according to Tyre Reviews guy. I'd be interested in knowing if the new PSC2C has really improved wet traction? I wouldn't need my PS4S for rain tires.

    • @jasonk4569
      @jasonk4569 2 роки тому +2

      the ps4s was always going to out perform the PSC2 in the wet, the PSC2 was designed with less ruts and tread, even just looking at the face of the tyre you can see the PSC2 was more dry bias

    • @mrmando69
      @mrmando69 6 місяців тому

      Yes the psc2c will be better in the wet from new due to increased tread depth but once there worn , who knows if the compound changes will be relevant to wet grip.

    To bad i cant find runflat's... love the design of them allot thing they are not for bmw sedans... i mean Who is using different sizes like my self on serie 5... front's 245 at back 275... no spare wheel when tire goes puff when i pass on something sharp so runflat will save me till i come to some tire service... or this tires will hold like rinflat for some short time...

    so that tire on the right.. is that the right one? look at how wide those tread grooves are. why the hell do i want less tire touching the road? granted, if it has more grip then it has more grip, but id find it hard to believe it manages that with significantly less rubber touching the ground. what the hell is going on here? im hoping he just grabbed the wrong hoop when he set those two tires up on that bench.

      Compound, design, and cooling have a lot to do with it. I see your concern, I thought the same thing. But they have the stats to prove it's faster.

      Every single SC2 variant (K0, N0, N1, etc.) is designed for different cars, GT350, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. So two SC2 can be drastically different in tread and compound, and have different appearance even though they’re both SC2. You have to take that in consideration when comparing whatever SC2 is on the screen with whatever SC2 you have at home.
