Imagine if you’re mom and your child was an anctor or whatever and you’re told you’re not allowed to be in certain roms, would you accept that?! No! Ariana mom knows better and she basically sold her
@lightintheworld5690 give her mom a break. It's Nickelodeon, a KIDS channel. And it was in the 2010s, nick already had an established name since the 90s. She could've assumed it's going to be a safe environment for kids. She even says later that her mom was more involved in the end. At the end of the day, we don't know wtf really happened and the true bad guys were the people truly hurting those kids.

@@celinaandrade9918Ariana was 16 when she started Victorious FYI. I agree that on its own “no parents” tends to be the norm for schools, extracurriculars, etc. and it was an established kids network of 20 years. So it’s not surprising some of the parents trusted the situation more than they should’ve retrospectively. Of course the fact that the minors were working and being paid should’ve meant their parents should’ve been allowed to be fully present (as it wasn’t “just” school/extracurriculars) as long as they weren’t interfering, and if they were maybe a live camera to a sitting room for the parents could’ve worked. Idk, regardless I’m sure many of the parents are looking back and feeling guilty for not protecting their kids more and ultimately the onus was on the adults behaving inappropriately and harming them to not have done those things.
Ariana is right for being careful with her words she must have been threatened/blackmailed into staying silent or she won't be Cat Valentine anymore. Now she is in an interview on a podcast. I get it, if it was me in a company like Nickelodeon i would have no choice but to endure the toixc treatment. I'm so upset that the Nickelodeon hid all the toxicity of all the former child stars especially Drake bell, Jeanette McCurdy, and Ariana Grande.
Child stars and influencer kids need more protection, and this is not up for debate. I feel sorry for any child who has had to go through these experiences. If any production doesn't allow you to be on set, then don't involve your child.
She probably has an NDA, and had taken money to agree not to talk. Jeannette McCurdy said they offered her over $300,000 to agree not to talk, which she turned down multiple times.
@@tigersfan1993 because her mom is a business woman, it would actually make complete sense for her to take the money and make sure ariana has a successful career by not talking about that experience. Ariana definitely took the money, which is why she's being cautious.

I feel so terrible for the things they went through. Victorious is a show I have loved so much, and that’s because of the cast. This cast is actually my favorite cast ever so I got attached to their characters. I thought the show was funny (except the weird feet things). To think a show that impacted so many people’s childhoods was a traumatic experience for these actors makes me so sad. Dan made most people’s favorite Nickelodeon shows from their childhood and the actors worked so hard and entertained so many people, yet they had to go through hell to do that. I want these actors to know how much we appreciate them and their performance on the show. I’m glad they at least had each other and made long lasting friendships during that time of their lives. Not just on Victorious, but tons of other sets and producers made actors uncomfortable and it all just needs to be made safer, and people need to get punished for what they’ve done. I love this cast so much, they’re so talented and amazing at what they do, and they played their characters on Victorious so well. I wish them healing as well as anyone else who went through trauma in their life.
I don't think anyone should be held to an nda that prevents you from speaking about a crime committed against you. She's way too careful with her words.
NDAS don’t apply when you’ve witness a crime anyway. They are null and void when that happens. But at the same time the victims have to decide themselves how much and how in depth they want to go with their own trauma.
Ndas are null and void if a crime is committed to the person who signed it. So if someone sexually assaults rapes abuses you etc you are allowes to speak up and alot of people don't realize this.
I am glad she spoke up. Some people on here are expecting a perfect reaction. I applaud her for coming forward and speaking her mind because she was one the victims. She is right, the adults were responsible and they were minors and they had to do the things because they were doing something different. She did reflect and said her piece. I hope that she continues to heal. It must be hard for her to go through this again and relive the trauma each time she is being tagged on these shows on social media.
I’m trying not to judge, but IDK if that was the best choice of words (maybe she should go back and try to reprocess her feelings) because saying you guess (about such a serious subject) is kinda messy (I’m sure I’ll get sh*t for saying this too but idc)
@@abbied sure. Her words and body language do not match. Good for you hon for being brave enough to enough talk about this. I’m sorry for this happening to you, and many others:( ❤But coming forward is the beginning of the conversation that needs to be had to make change.
I can tell Ariana is careful with her words, and there are moments where she self sooth which could mean some dark uncomfortable moments that she'd rather not go back to.
Drake’s dad they manipulated him. He knew something was wrong. Brian was too close to Drake touching him then they told Drake’s dad he is anti lgbt then he said no I am not against it. He was just trying to protect Drake as a child. I saw that on quiet on the set.
Seriously? People in such big positions of power rarely are reported, let alone prosecuted for their sickness; Brian Peck got barely over a year for what he did to Drake Bell. It's not as easy as filing a police report, ffs.
I’m glad she spoke up. And I hope she doesn’t get into any legal trouble for this. She looks so uncomfortable and her words are very minced and filtered.
She kept her mouth shut as long as the paychecks kept coming and the promise she will be made into a huge music star. Now she is acting like she is concerned. She is just another ready-made pop star from Nickelodeon just like Britney Spears, Mily Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, Demi Levato, Justin Timberlake....they were all just ready-made commercial products stuck out there to sell merchandise to the lonely kids stuck in front of TV
And her mother let it go despite not being allowed next to her daughter anytime she wanted? Big red flag. Never eat those perfect families that are sold.
Pretty sure Ariana actually spoke up about her experiences with Dan, or what other people were going through during her time working with Nickelodeon, as the original Podcast clip was cut, so a small portion was edited out. She then just proceeds to say that she was very devastated for everyone else who has pretty much been a victim. I think it’s great that she finally had an opportunity to speak to people about the situation, even if she chose for that information to remain private from the public.
Or maybe she never abused, so she is trying to be sympathetic to others without admitting that she never had the same experiences. She doesn't want to seem like she is defending Dan Schneider, which is what people would think if she said she was never abused.
I feel like Ariana is always acting, as you can hear in her high pitched voice. This clip feels like it’s the only time I didn’t saw her acting. She talks with normal tone and you see she’s stressed or anxious about telling because of her hands
I worked in the theatre and film industry in germany and stuff like this is beyond all imagination here. If Children are involved, the guidelines are next level, as they are anyways in germany😂 It is basically the same in film and theatre: If there is at least one child involved - you have to contact the booking agencys (which are super strict and in doubt always on side of the child), you can not contact child or parents directly - while the child is working, there is ALWAYS at least one childrens-safety-responsible-person always in seeing and hearing distance - child is not allowed on stage or on set after a certain time (i think it was 8pm or 10pm, I don‘t remember) - the costume fittings are only allowed together with one parent and the childs-safety-person. The person from Art/Costume department must be female. I remember in theatre, there was a costume fitting for a few Kids from a Kids-choir and the costume Designer wasn‘t allowed in one single fitting, I did them all because I was his assistance at that time - If one or both parents want to stay the whole time, they stay the whole time. It is out of question. - If you are going to do scenes that could be traumatising, even if it‘s just acted, there HAS TO BE also a childs psychologist as well - child has always the last word about things they aren‘t comfortable with - you always Train/Act the same scene/play with two diffrent children, so they can be stand-ins/replacement for the other child. Anyways, it sounds strict but it it is the only right and fair way and from what I experienced it is the most fun to work with them, because the Kids are just so funny and random most of the time, it is refreshing work area
I feel like this is the wrong way to approach such a traumatising subject. Let Ariana heal, and don't bring it up. I'm surprised she didnt inform the interviewers not to discuss this.
It doesn't matter if the parents are on set if they're made to feel if they speak up, their child will face backlash and made to feel like they're a problem to work with.
What does that have to do with anything? Ariana was at an age where she didnt comprehend the trauma Dan and the other adults put her through. There is a reason why Ariana has gone into therapy for a decade now. She is the kind of person who becomes very sensitive when talking about her own trauma. She is always on the verge of tears when trying to talk about the Manchester attack, since it has affected her greatly. Sometimes we gotta accept that people can't speak about their trauma as easily as others.
she’s literally explained on the podcast how she didn’t realize how bad the situations were until recently when she has looked back on the footage… obviously since she was groomed into thinking there wasn’t anything wrong with the jokes at the time she didn’t notice a problem
For everyone else who says Ari's new song true story isn't about her trauma with Dan and Nickelodeon well clearly you all were wrong. But Ari is definitely right Hollywood needs to do better to protect these kids in this industry #JUSTICEFORTHENICKKIDS #JFTNK
Based on what Jeanette said about Ariana going to Tom hanks house, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ariana comes out years later and details any abuse she witnessed during her time at nick.
She’s literally like me trying to fit my word count on my essay for class 😭😂 like really figuring out how and what she wants to say while also making it sound nice lol
It's so hard cause you can tell she isn't saying all of it, but we do need to hear it all. It's her story to keep. Once she wants/chooses, if ever, she can tell it. Sadly, we know what happened to others so we can extrapolate.
I gotta say, I agree (watch out for her fans though they’re in the comment section and are fighting everyone who has an opposing/different opinion than them lol) 😂
After Quiet on the Set, I would seriously tell any parent who encouraged their kids to be influencers or child stars to get their head examined. No. Way. Ever. Would I allow my kid to be left alone in a room full of adults.
Jenette McCurdy claims in her book Ariana was okay with everything, and focused on her career, bragging about her success all the time. She got special treatment on set, and was way more privileged than rest of the cast.

I remember being annoyed with how strict they were on the protocol at the time. Now, I’m so incredibly grateful for my experience. Major props to X Factor and Simon Cowell for thoroughly enforcing that protocol.
I feel so bad for ari and her mom, I cant imagine how guilty she feels
Feeling sorry for Ariana is understandable, but why feel sorry for mom who accepts «no parents allowed» rule? WTF.
@@lightintheworld5690 most schools have a no parents allowed rule. most extracurriculars like dance or drama class or music also have no parents allowed rule, bc kids act different and get distracted with parents around. and yeah its suspicious given we have a lot more context than she did at the time, but ariana was 14 she wasnt a small child, if i was in joans position i probably wouldn't suspect anything
@@ki11ersharkariana was 14, she said it herself
Weird world out there. Nobody knows anything until everyone knows everything then it’s old news.
I'm so proud of you for having the courage to speak about the topic at all! You didn't have to!!
Thanks Ariana for speaking about it, this need to be changed, kids deserve to be respected.
She and everyone on victorious deserved better
Im glad celebrities that used to be child celebrities are talking more about this, to try to fight against it for future generations.
Child stars and influencer kids need more protection, and this is not up for debate. I feel sorry for any child who has had to go through these experiences. If any production doesn't allow you to be on set, then don't involve your child.
She probably has an NDA, and had taken money to agree not to talk. Jeannette McCurdy said they offered her over $300,000 to agree not to talk, which she turned down multiple times.
bro why would ariana need money she’s literally so rich
@@tigersfan1993 because her mom is a business woman, it would actually make complete sense for her to take the money and make sure ariana has a successful career by not talking about that experience. Ariana definitely took the money, which is why she's being cautious.
@@tigersfan1993 wow that's an insane and terrible take.
@@izzysnotoklmao and you think she was always that rich?
Nda about this topic implies she signed it years ago NOT NOW
She really forced to drink upside down and squeeze the potato is beyond creepy.

The foot finger is worst. It’s not even hidden
You notice how she said the things the weren’t approved on tv were snuck into the websites. She said that as if she knew that
Ariana if you're reading this I want to say I'm proud of you this must have taken a lot of Courage someday Dan and everyone else involved are going to pay we're all behind you
Facts I am proud of her and all of the Nick kids who decided to finally come forward
That’s pretty sad
She looks mad nervous like she doesn’t wanna say the wrong thing. Seems like she was definitely paid off
So proud of you for speaking about something you shouldn't have to speak about! I'm so sorry that this happened to the victims!
She is still being controlled or she wouldnt be so scared to speak plainly. She has too much to lose to actually "speak out".
I don't think anyone should be held to an nda that prevents you from speaking about a crime committed against you. She's way too careful with her words.
Case in point: Cassie and Diddy 🤧
NDAS don’t apply when you’ve witness a crime anyway. They are null and void when that happens. But at the same time the victims have to decide themselves how much and how in depth they want to go with their own trauma.
Ndas are null and void if a crime is committed to the person who signed it. So if someone sexually assaults rapes abuses you etc you are allowes to speak up and alot of people don't realize this.
Why are her sentences so hard to follow?!?!?
I'm proud of her for finally starting to speak her truth. Don't ever dull your voice. This woman was constantly thinking during this interview.
3:41 “yuh” LMAOO
pls don't go there 💀💀
"Going into it, I guess I'm upset" *chuckles*
Ariana, please go process this in peace.
I’m trying not to judge, but IDK if that was the best choice of words (maybe she should go back and try to reprocess her feelings) because saying you guess (about such a serious subject) is kinda messy (I’m sure I’ll get sh*t for saying this too but idc)
The ridiculous fans/stans keep replying back to me like they’re on her payroll it’s 😒
Remember Jeanette McCurdy was offered hush money when Sam and Cat was canceled. Could be a reason for Ariana holding back.
Lots of distancing language. Rocking at times. Self correcting.
What do these things mean/simulate though? (I’m just trying to understand I promise)
@@abbied sure. Her words and body language do not match. She speaks about the abuse impersonally, struggling to sound cohesive and express feelings shes not aware she has or can describe, yet her body tells us she is actually in some distress (rocking). At least that's what I picked up from watching Martin Decoder's channel (trained expert).
@@Big_Jo_Jo Did he make a video about this particular video? 🙀
@@abbied He might. He's done one on everyone from killers, to Markle, to politicians. He also did the Wales' engagement interview. The tactics are pretty universal, even if not on this specific video. Check him out and determine for yourself.
There are so many scenes that stuck out to me as weird when I was a kid, and even more so as an adult in the TV shows, Victorious and Sam and Cat.
I wish the best for her
Same
She’s very careful with what she’s saying because she knows if she speaks her truth, then bye bye money and fame.
😥😥😥😥
I would love to hear what she really has to say about it (maybe one day further down the line she’ll talk about it more) she’s already made her millions so I don’t think she would lose money over it but idk 😕🤷🏻♀️
Thing is, if she talks its not just the fame and money that goes away. She also will have to tell what she DID to get the extra fame and money.
There's a podcast about this issue. It's called Dear Hollywood, by Alyson Stoner, and it's amazing. I highly recommend it.
Good for you hon for being brave enough to enough talk about this. I’m sorry for this happening to you, and many others:( ❤But coming forward is the beginning of the conversation that needs to be had to make change.
Saying so little. Those clips were horrible 😢
People have said all these creepy rumours on reddit about Dan forever... So crazy
I can tell Ariana is careful with her words, and there are moments where she self sooth which could mean some dark uncomfortable moments that she'd rather not go back to.
I'm glad she has opened up about this.kids need to be more protected when it comes to show business.the parents should be present all the time.
Ever since Mac died she ain’t been the same since. She’s so weird now.
How kind of u lol
She probably never got over him
Normal isn’t it?
I don't understand why no one made a police report about it?
Naive
Especially the parents child actor@@Laura-fh3sc
Not a fan of Ariana's music but big kudos to her for speaking against these exploiters.
See has major PTSD I hope she open up one day
She kept her mouth shut as long as the paychecks kept coming and the promise she will be made into a huge music star.
It was the same with the rest of the parents.
Money
And also the way narcissists act,
It’s easy to look away if you’re… weak or scared
Pretty sure Ariana actually spoke up about her experiences with Dan, or what other people were going through during her time working with Nickelodeon, as the original Podcast clip was cut, so a small portion was edited out. She then just proceeds to say that she was very devastated for everyone else who has pretty much been a victim. I think it’s great that she finally had an opportunity to speak to people about the situation, even if she chose for that information to remain private from the public.
She let it slip that her mom wasn’t allowed on the set. I wish she would take a stand for herself and others but I feel like she just won’t.
I’m happy for her and I know this was hard. Hopefully this makes her feel a little better
It doesn't sound like Ari has truly processed it at all and gotten help as many others have.
she didn’t really say anything about her own experience it really seems that she received hush money
she literally did are you deaf
Yes she did.
If Children are involved, the guidelines are next level, as they are anyways in germany😂
It is basically the same in film and theatre:
If there is at least one child involved
- you have to contact the booking agencys (which are super strict and in doubt always on side of the child), you can not contact child or parents directly
- while the child is working, there is ALWAYS at least one childrens-safety-responsible-person always in seeing and hearing distance
- child is not allowed on stage or on set after a certain time (i think it was 8pm or 10pm, I don‘t remember)
- the costume fittings are only allowed together with one parent and the childs-safety-person. The person from Art/Costume department must be female. I remember in theatre, there was a costume fitting for a few Kids from a Kids-choir and the costume Designer wasn‘t allowed in one single fitting, I did them all because I was his assistance at that time
- If one or both parents want to stay the whole time, they stay the whole time. It is out of question.
- If you are going to do scenes that could be traumatising, even if it‘s just acted, there HAS TO BE also a childs psychologist as well
- child has always the last word about things they aren‘t comfortable with
- you always Train/Act the same scene/play with two diffrent children, so they can be stand-ins/replacement for the other child.
I love that Penn likely supported her in sharing even the little she is comfortable sharing. More will come and these survivors are supported.
It doesn't matter if the parents are on set if they're made to feel if they speak up, their child will face backlash and made to feel like they're a problem to work with.
I knew she wouldnt say much because she thanked dan schneider in a couple of her early award accepting speeches when she began her music career.
She was a minor not even 17
So did Amanda Bynes and that's because Dan made them say that
She doesn't owe you shit, she was a child
she’s literally explained on the podcast how she didn’t realize how bad the situations were until recently when she has looked back on the footage… obviously since she was groomed into thinking there wasn’t anything wrong with the jokes at the time she didn’t notice a problem
Is Sloan working with access Hollywood?
She’s not being herself
Yes she is what are u talking about
she’s the most herself she has ever been, and she already talked about this
@@gabsddptssctyWhen did she talk about this before? (Just asking because I’d like to know that’s all thanks) 👍🏻👌🏻

She looks so nervous...
For everyone else who says Ari's new song true story isn't about her trauma with Dan and Nickelodeon well clearly you all were wrong. But Ari is definitely right Hollywood needs to do better to protect these kids in this industry #JUSTICEFORTHENICKKIDS #JFTNK
So the song is about that? 🤧🤧🤧🤧

It's definitely NOT about that haha 🤣🤣🤣 it's about people smearing her name with homewrecking allegations. That's why "the boy is mine" is after.

@Optojago I am talking about True Story. I really listen to the lyrics
I’m so proud of her
The way she was moving her own hand it seemed like she was shy or embarrassed or forced I'm really worried for her😢😢
Based on what Jeanette said about Ariana going to Tom hanks house, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ariana comes out years later and details any abuse she witnessed during her time at nick.
Sloan on Access. Ye Sloan.
She is clearly uncomfortable, stumbling with her words, and seemingly holding back. There is more to this we’re not seeing.
Why did she specifically say my daughter then changed it to if I had a daughter. Ariana you got a secret daughter we don't know about love
She’s literally like me trying to fit my word count on my essay for class 😭😂 like really figuring out how and what she wants to say while also making it sound nice lol
At least she admits that what she did on the show, or rather what she was made to do, was not cool at all.
Penn has been acting since he was at least 14. That's crazy. I just noticed all the movies. Mann thats crazy 😮
She has been coached by the best. Hope she escapes this but seems unlikely. Strong human. Hope she is strong enough to get out.
It's so hard cause you can tell she isn't saying all of it, but we do need to hear it all. It's her story to keep. Once she wants/chooses, if ever, she can tell it. Sadly, we know what happened to others so we can extrapolate.
Ariana is truly holding back, through my observation, she don’t want to spilled the beans out and am happy she does that ❤
She’s realizing in real time what happened to her. It took me almost a decade to come to terms with the things that happened to me!
You mean "Breaks silence by continuing to support Dan while hurting the other victims."
Shes being SO careful
Her speaking now is just very calculated.
I gotta say, I agree (watch out for her fans though they’re in the comment section and are fighting everyone who has an opposing/different opinion than them lol) 😂
we are proud of you Ari, thank you for speaking up about it
She's careful with her words because she has too. She took money from Nick which helped shoot her to music stardom.
I wish her team would of just had her release a statement instead of having to speak about it retraumatizing her 😢
It's rough to re-construct your memories through the lens of abuse you couldn't recognise at the time
I used to want to be on Nickelodeon or Disney as a kid but im glad i never pursued that dream because the industry could be/is scary and disgusting
People need to stop forcing her to speak about this
She was clearly traumatized, she doesn’t owe you an explanation about HER experiences and trauma
well said, girl.
After Quiet on the Set, I would seriously tell any parent who encouraged their kids to be influencers or child stars to get their head examined. No. Way. Ever. Would I allow my kid to be left alone in a room full of adults.
She was so cautious I have to think something inappropriate happened to her.
Jenette McCurdy claims in her book Ariana was okay with everything, and focused on her career, bragging about her success all the time. She got special treatment on set, and was way more privileged than rest of the cast.
Ariana’s outfit here 😍😍😍
