Happy Labor Day, hope you have a nice day off!! ☮️🇺🇲
YES!
Yes, and Prey.
I give a big 👎 to Predator 2. Film critics panned it big time, and for a good reason. It was nothing but extreme gore (more than in the first film), bad dialogue and bad acting.
Predator 2, Prey, then Predators... I'd stop there including skipping AvP
The helicopter pilot at the end was Kevin Peter Hall. He had another role in the film. He portrayed the Predator .
Elpidia Carrillo was the little Latin lady. She went on to be a producer, director and actor as well.
Tis is a favorite Sci-Fi film for me. Glad you reacted to it. You were picking up on things sooo quickly.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe
Wait that was the predator?! I’m going to have to rewind to see him!!! ..or just look up his name. That’s dope! Curious to see what she directed/produced!!
@@NiaMakiReacts Her stuff is all in the Latin world as far as I know.
Have a great day!
Fun fact: You made a joke about Stranger things when they find Jim Hopper dead in the tree, but that's actually the guy who the Stranger Things writers named the character after. They also named the town Hawkins after the guy with the glasses, Rick Hawkins, played by Shane Black.
Shane Black also helped write Predator and directed one of the sequels, and he also wrote and directed Iron Man 3
that’s dope! Definitely missed Hawkins! (I forgot to turn captions on and so I typically miss 40% of what’s going on)
@@NiaMakiReactsAll the better for having you rewatch my dear.
@@NiaMakiReactsYou did a good job figuring stuff out considering! In a way, I guess it could be a silent film?! I like how much it shows and leaves to our conclusions.
9:05 That "thats what he said" 🤌 Chefs kiss. 😂
🌳 🌳 😂
I usually comment about the lore of Predator on everyone's reaction, but you pretty much figured it out on your own. Lol, The Yautja (Predator race) are trophy hunters and they actively seek out the strongest game and to kill the strongest of the strongest in hand to hand combat is honorable and a right of passage for them. They have an entire society and hierarchy that really only gets expanded on extensively in the comics/graphic novels and is one of my personally favorite lores to dive into. I really hope you watch the other films all the way up to Prey, which is one of my favorite films in this franchise.
It's better to have mystery. Disregard everything not said or established in the first film as fan-fiction. The imaginary anthropologists ruin this film with their need to label and classify everything based on lore by other people in other things. It becomes like Rob Zombie's Michael Myers. Over-explanation. It's not needed. There's enough to think about with the first film alone. Leave some room for mystery.
4:20 The Duffer Brothers referenced a bunch of 80s movies in Stranger Things, so this is definitely meant to be a link. In addition to Jim Hopper, the soldier who tells jokes is called Hawkins (the name of the town in Stranger Things).
Ohhhhhh I didn’t catch Hawkins!!!
Congratulations! you're literally the first reactor to recognize the name Jim Hopper!!! That's not sarcasm btw. No one else noticed that
I didn’t catch Hawkins though, someone in the comments mentioned that was in there too
Predator is such a great action movie.

@@NiaMakiReacts 😂 i thought he did that hoping it would kill others(Arnold included)in the process but you could be right too
Who would’ve thought that this show would have two future Governors in it
The Predator is a representative of an alien species known as the "Yautja". Hunter through and through. Their mentality is as alien as it is simply structured once you understand their motives. A Yautja travels across the universe, landing on all sorts of planets and always looking for the most dangerous native life form to hunt. Honor gained from a successful hunt is synonymous with social status among the Yautja people. Every youngblood must earn their place. The more successful hunts of heroic or even legendary proportions a yautja can show, the higher he rises in the hierarchy of his people. A yautja is equipped with everything that can be useful for hunting. His optical camouflage field protects him from detection, his mask allows him to track the heat signature of his prey, among other things, and at the same time it contains the aiming device for the weapon on his shoulder. He can record audio samples of his prey, which can be used to lure his target to where the Yautja wants them, or he can use it to shake his morale. He has a complete medical surgical set with him and the knowledge how to use it. He has an extendable blade on his wrist and - if the prey is victorious against all odds - the device on his arm can be detonated so that the Yautja can kill everything around him. Worthy prey is the best a yautja can hope for, and by "worthy" is meant that said prey puts up the best possible fight before dying. Once the target is dead, the Yautja uses their remains to craft a trophy. These trophies are important because they testify to his bravery and heroic deeds to others of his people. If the Yautja manages to gain a proverbial reputation among his people through his actions, he can hope to one day rise to the ranks of the elite hunters. These aspirations are the linchpin of his life.

"You're hit, man. You're bleedin'."
"I ain't got time to bleed."
"Oh... okay."
Fun Fact: Theatrical film debut of Jesse Ventura and Shane Black.
Don't Drink It Fact: The Predator's (Kevin Peter Hall) blood - a goopy substance with the color of Mountain Dew - was made on-set using a mixture of the liquid from inside glow sticks and KY Jelly.
Practical Joke Fact: Jesse Ventura was delighted to find out from the wardrobe department that his arms were one inch bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger's. He suggested to Schwarzenegger that they measure arms, with the winner getting a bottle of champagne. Ventura lost, because Schwarzenegger had told the wardrobe department to tell Ventura that his arms were bigger. You're going to have to get up much earlier in the day to get one over a professional practical joker.
Practical Effect Fact: The invisibility cloaking effect was achieved with a bright red suit (because it was the farthest opposite of the green of the jungle and the blue of the sky) the size of the Predator (Kevin Peter Hall). The red was removed with chroma key techniques, leaving an empty area. The take was then repeated without the actors using a 30% wider lens on the camera. When the two takes were combined optically, the jungle from the second take filled in the empty area. Because the second take was filmed with a wider lens, a vague outline of the alien could be seen with the background scenery bending around its shape.
Ain’t nobody got time for that 😂
This is my favorite movie of all time

Listen ima tell y’all something and this is my statements and it’s facts and we have to address these weirdo Arnold meat 🥩 riders yes the first Predator is a classic we all know that but the facts are Predator 2 in my opinion is far better than Predator everything in it is better from the predator design he was younger he was sloppier cuz he was a savage just like these youngbuls today that’s how city hunter was the concrete jungle LA was far more disturbing and scarier cuz it shows that we are the real Predators too cuz we killing each other with the guns we created and the predator is just watching he was also like a vigilante like Batman cuz he was killing all the bad guys the cast is better than this one cuz it’s a diverse cast and they are more relatable all the lore comes from Predator 2 not part 1 Predator 2 was world building we got a xenomorph skull 💀 I don’t care it’s better and that’s facts haters can keep hating oh and Kevin Peter hall had more screen time as the predator so he fleshed out the character more the city hunter was a fucking problem and be probably didn’t die cuz his clan took him with them I’m sure they have tech to revive him back and re grow his hand
All predators movies are good and worth while to see except for 2 of them, the one that took place in Gunnison, Colorado, and the one with the escaped lunatics and 10 foot predator.
You mentioned it wasn't a horror, and you're right - once there used to be a genre _between_ horror and action called "thriller", and Predator belongs in that corner. These days, people have forgotten about that one.
I think my definition of horror was like the grudge which I hate but this, thrillers, are my jam!
Thrillers are the best. They are based on suspense and mystery solving - not gory violence.
The film industry should make more thrillers and fewer horror films.
These days, it's all about the lame jump scares and brutal, gory violence.
"It still worked?"
Arnold cleverly turns his concealed spike trap into a deadfall by triggering it to hit the predator with the counterweight instead.
I thought it was a double combo, where the first one was to trigger the second and crush him after he was pinned lmao, but that makes sense
Fun to watch you put the pieces together as the movie progresses… although “Predator 2” comes next, I suggest doing “Prey” next. It shows the Predator species 200 years earlier, so it is still learning the Earth’s hierarchy of predators, learning how to hunt humans, and making mistakes and adjustments as it hunts. It also makes clearer the Predator’s preference for matching weapons to those of its prey, to keep the contest fair. There will be a tip-of-the-hat to Arnie’s “Predator”, and a trophy that appears 200+ years later in the the storyline in “Predator 2”…
Honestly, I can't understand this craze for "Prey". The one and only "Predator" movie that matters to me is the first one and I think it stands on its own. For "Prey" they should have taken another creature because I find this film grotesque. The first “Predator” is surprising because we know nothing about the creature. We don't know where she comes from and what she is capable of and so there is an aura of mystery around her. For me, other films are "reheated" and I don't appreciate "déjà vu". Personally I hate sequels and prequels.
🙏🏽💪
I saw this theaters when I was in high school. I had a big crush in Anna.
Awesome movie. I remember seeing this in the theater when I was 16. Good times.
My dad had a little theory that there were actually multiple Predators hunting them. In the early parts of the movie there are some spots where the Predator is watching them from in front, then behind, then in front again. It could definitely have moved, so it can be explained away, but later on, when the Predator kills Dillon, it sounds like he's really far away from the team. Then in a matter of maybe 30-45 seconds it's at the log bridge to kill Billy, and then not even five seconds after you hear him scream, it's in the tree right beside them to kill Poncho? They're hunters looking for status, so it makes sense that they wouldn't be working together on the same person but would each be following their own prey, so if they're each moving independently, the very short time gaps between appearances make more sense.
Also, I don't want to spoil anything in "Predator 2," so I can't be specific, but there's a certain thing said in this movie, which is repeated by the Predator in the next, but that specific thing is never said in the second movie before that moment. It could have just learned off screen, but it makes a lot more sense if there were other Predators in this movie watching things unfold, and those Predators later come back for another hunt.
Anyways, it's not like a rock-solid theory or anything, but I thought I'd share since it was an interesting idea to me when my dad first told me about it. I thought other people might see it and get a kick out of it. I'll save my thoughts about watching the sequels for the end discussion. ✌🤓
I honestly wondered about that! It would pop up really quickly, like, how?!?!

Long story short, the Predators, or the Yautja, are an alien species that only cares about the thrill of the hunt. They hunt only those who could be considered a challenge for them, they don’t pick on anyone who isn’t their own size, so to speak.
Ohhh, yeah Arnold is 💪 for sure
Best film alien or "monster" ever created!
LMFAO your reaction at 21:45 to that big cliff I think is everyone's reaction. Such a good film. They make you FEEL the scenes.
You were right about the Jim Hopper/Stranger Things connection. Also Hawkins in this film/town in Stranger Things. It was the ST creators nod to his love of the film.
And also, this is Commando, not Scooby-do
He would have gotten away with it, if it wasn’t for those middling kids
if you'd like 100% check out both Prey and Predator 2, if you're interested after that then Predators is solid.
So some extended lore for the movie, which was only established between this one and the second (some of it came even later than that), the Predator is an alien species called the Yautja, and they take pride in hunting, especially dangerous prey. Their favorite prey are named by them as Hard Meat and Soft meat, Hard Meat being the xenomorphs from Aliens, and Soft Meat being Humans. They have dreadlocks to the EXTREME, it's actually part of their coming of age ceremony. Their hairs are slowly wound into extremely tight locks, so tight it's almost like rope, in a very painful process that can take days. If they make any sign of discomfort, the hair is untied and the process starts over. They take pride in matching their preys firepower, only exceeding it when outmatched by numbers in the immediate combat field. Also, my personal favorite fact, the females are 8 feet tall, way stronger and more durable than the males, could be hunters but don't feel any need to most of the time, and are known to throw an unsatisfactory lover into a wall so hard it kills them.
Predator 2 isn't as good, but it does have a great tagline: "He's in town with a few days to kill."
*EDIT: it's still worth checking out at some point, it just hasn't aged as well with it's "90's future" aesthetic.*
When Billy says we'll all gonna die, you believe him :(
Yeah I thought we were pretty much doomed after that
Acid is 3 hours of endless laughing! I used to take it when I was young back in the late 70`s. It was the best buzz ever! No hangover and no headache. I miss it. Way better than weed or alcohol.
If you can handle this, you should be able to handle "Alien"😊 Thought it was funny you got the joke about the echo before he explained it to Bill lol 😂
Look at that! Growth! Guess I’ll be watching Alien then!!!
Great movie
10:19 Billy is freaked out because he is from a long line of Native American shamans but doesn’t know it.
He is also the reincarnation of one of the first humans to be killed by a Predator. Billy’s first life can be seen in the Predator prequel Prey.
Fantastic back story on this particular character.
9:05 Good one. Made me chuckle.

“Did you think he is worthy to fight without all that extra stuff”? Finally, a reactor who gets it!
Predator was just full of, I guess gore and like....jump scares and....

Great Reaction! On to Predator 2!
The Predator mimicking Billy's laugh at the end though....🥶🥶🥶

"Not great to have glowing blood because predators can find you..." It's the other way around. It warns other predators to stay away. lol
"26:40" You are one of the few reactors realising what the Predator is going to do. And the Star Wars line right after that killed me.😂
If i had a nickel every time an actor from this movie became an elected politician I'd have two nickels! Which isn't that much but it's weird it happened at all!

2:54 "I don't know why. I just assumed the movie would be, like, in outer space."
Yeah. Well space is _part_ of it.
Speaking _technically,_ this movie is not _quite_ named accurately. If we're gonna be _technical,_ it should be called "Trophy Hunter," because that's what the extraterrestrial _is._ But I think _that_ title would've brought in the wrong kind of audience and fueled the wrong kinds of expectations.
Lol! True, not sure how keen I would have been to watch that movie if it was titled that

The whole Jim Hopper thing is honestly such a unsettling thing if you watched stranger things. The time period perfectly aligns with this predator movie in terms of the year. Yes Stranger Things. It's influenced by a lot of 80s pop culture elements including this movie. And the predator is a sport hunter.

23:38 Yeah, the Predators *The Yautja* are a race of hunters. They live to hunt and collect trophies of different species they've killed over the years to prove their the best. Their also very honorable as well. They only hunt individuals who are worthy to battle. *Such as carrying a weapon* They always want to hunt the best!
I have seen many reactors ask the same question about the ammo when they have that free-for-all shootout with the jungle. What you all seem to have forgotten is that this is Hollywood and they never run out of bullets. Like all movies, you can find some faults with it but I think overall this was a well-done movie.

The Predator is part of a species called "Yautja"(pronounced: Ya-oot-cha)
An alien species with highly advanced technology, including cloaking tech.
Going around the universe, finding the best prey to hunt.
Humans aren't even the most dangerous prey, that's reserved for xenomorphs from the movie series "Alien", yes they share the same universe. XD
For a more comedic movie of the type try "Attack on the Block".
I never liked the fact that the tools it has, are human. The medical supplies it used were too small for it's hands. Would it really be that hard to make tools for it?
True, the way it was struggling 😂

I am more concerned how the predator is actually reading the signs on his wristband-thingy, since in infrared he cant see them. Like ... why have things in writing when you are physically unable to read?
In my opinion this is the only film in the franchise that is worth watching. And it's the only one I watch regularly. For me the others are just reheated. I find this film almost perfect. The tension in the film, the jungle, the music, the direction and the creature. This film is a masterpiece which, in my opinion, stands on its own. I hate sequels and prequels. Also you did your contractual duty as a reactor and watched predator. 🎉😅
Glad you liked it. The sequels are okay and i would like to see you watch them 😊 even though the predator from 2018 is the exception and total garbage.
And prey is the best sequel, it also kinda mixes up the formula a bit and is representing the kommanche well apparently.
To the movie: they had to rewrite the ending because arnold refused to beat the predator in a fistfight because it did not make sense to him (and imo he was right).
Also, anna is a POW. It makes sense that she is refusing to cooperate as much as possible in her situation.
Edit: also, there are no subtitles in predator. When people speak russian or spanish and you do not know the language, you just do not understand. It was a choice by the director.
That also means you get all the information by watching the movie, you do not get meaningfull additional information by subtitles ;)
Omg lol that makes sense though! If he beat it that way I wouldn’t have questioned it because, well it’s a movie, but realistically it wouldn’t make sense.
Btw, what are the other contractual duties (movies that need to be seen)
Hm, well alien and aliens i guess at least :p and prey and big lebowski. Also you have to binge breaking bad. or the youtube-police will fine you. Also, occasionally throw a movie in that is not super popular with american audience to keep everyone on their toe 😜 i would recommend das boot, all five seasons of the wire and and die brücke from the 50s to keep it all fresh. 🤓🤓😜 and the original planet of the apes from the 70s!
(German here, so "die brücke" might be very obscure xD )
To the movie: arnold said "i am a man, he is a monster". For an action star with his physique, I think that says a lot. As far as i heard, when shane black had to think of a new ending, he saw a looney-toones cartoon which apparently inspired him?
More facts: the original costume for the predator was awful, and they refused to film with it.
Stan winston was randomly inspired to add mandibles after a random conversation with james cameron.
Everyone had a lot of diarrhea during the filming due to conditions. So right after filming a scene, many actors ran to the toilet. Due to that, they also lost a lot of weight.
The jungle where it was filmed is now gone :(
The location was apparently chosen in a shady way by bribing the location scout? Something like that. The conditions were not very good.
They apparently had to cut a lot of jungle while filming, because filming jungle in a movie is visually uninteresting according to the director.
The director also did die hard.
Now you know more random facts 🤓😜
Edit: landham, the guy who played billy, needed a bodyguard to keep him from attacking people of the crew. He seems (seemed?) to have had a bit of an aggression-problem?
27:02 Perfect time to look away from the screen lol
The predator could be watching them set up the trap but remember they are unarmed and in a group.
"aww. no no no no no. put it back on. put it back on." words every man fears, Human or Yautja (yacht-chew-wah) (the Predator's species name).
