OR, if you do drop everything and work on their "emergency", they have the stones to come back a day later and ask why the original thing you were working on isn't done yet.
Strange that the manger didn't bring up "We're a team", "We're family" and "Think of it as a favor for a really good friend."
If you want me to work overtime pay me overtime.
Pretty simple to me
When an employee stands her or his ground, she or he will be summarily fired. Todaloo.
"Okay, then, you're fired. We'll find someone else who we CAN browbeat into doing what we want."
"Boy, that deadline must not have been that big a problem for you to short-staff yourself even harder."
It's always..."We neeed....for the company!"
Poor planning on your part does not make it a priority on my part!
Come on, bend over & take one for the team. HELL NO!!!
Rule of Acquisition #13: "Anything worth doing is worth doing for money." If this work is so important, then pay me. Otherwise, it's just not a priority. And because YOU forgot, doesn't make it my problem to solve. Just yours.
I used tell them that I don't work for free, and I don't get ot they are SOL.
If they continued to ask or pesteri,bi told them their legal counsel will be speaking to my legal counsel.
That put the kibosh on it REAL FAST!
I remember the Friday evening a restaurant I briefly baked various goods for had a two-for-one on a sandwich that used sub rolls we didn’t normally use a lot of. About 6 P.M., a manager comes in a panic, says they are almost out and I can’t go on break, I must make more immediately. Now, the dough for these things comes FROZEN. If I’d known at, say, 2 PM that we were expecting to use triple or quadruple the usual number of these items, I could have gotten out a bunch of extra dough, let it thaw while doing other things, put it in the proofer once it was thawed, done some more stuff while it was poofing up, stuck it in the oven, set it to cool, then, about the time it was needed, sliced and bagged it. These weren’t complicated items, but they took HOURS to properly prepare. Well, I was basically told to speed proof and bake them. That it was “okay if they were little”. Then we got complaints from customers. Then I was told to do it again, correctly. I made it clear that this would take TIME and once I got the frozen dough out, I was going on break! I swear, employers… 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
It's amazing how the coffee never spills out of the cup..😂
I just thought it was a chocolate cupcake...lmbo
