    My lawn boy was gushing fuel all over and i spent 2 hours not able to figure it out, cleaning my carburetor and putting it all back together. When you mentioned that sometimes the float fills with gas I decided this was my last attempt to fix it.. and of course it was filled with gas. I smacked it up against the ground until all the gas drained out of it put it all back together and my lawn boy no longer leaks. I appreciate your knowledge.

    Thanks. Have to use someone to cut my grass, and last weekend it would not start. I'm on a budget now, so shop was not a pleasant option. Together, this weekend, my Godson and I followed this, and drained old fuel, and reassembled. Cranked on the first try. Felt like Christmas! [I was relieved there were no magneto issues, but I suppose a future installment on that would be welcome.] Thanks again!

      Hey Mighty Mystery that is great! Well the magneto I like to clean with fine sandpaper now and then if it is starting to get rusty but I am glad you found a solution by watching and supporting my channel. Thank You!

    This is a very well presented video. I was able to view this video and then repair my Daughter's Lawnboy mower. I am legally blind but, even I was able to completely clean the carb and bring the mower back to life. Many thanks.

    Good video! There is also a jet right below the idle adjustment screw on the top left of carb. It is a little rubber/plastic plug, you can pull out with needle noise pliers, inside is a jet that always gets clogged and causes the motor to surge. Steves Small Engine Saloon did a video on it.

    So coincidental. Just last week, my neighbor was throwing her mower away (the exact same mower you have) because it wouldn't start. I asker if I could have it. I broke down the carb, cleaned it out much the same way that you did and replaced the bowl gasket. Put it back together and it cranked right up. Sold it for $75 the next day! The only thing I see that you did differently was the auto-choke linkage. I think the right side of that little metal link goes on differently that the way you installed it. It goes up and under the connection to the butterfly valve (choke plate). That way it won't fall out if you hit a bump like it did when you were first playing with it. At least on mine it was installed that way. Otherwise, it appeared to be a really good mower. Thanks for the video and the good info.

    • @frankiefixdiy
      @frankiefixdiy  3 роки тому

      That is very possible, that's the way it was when it was found with the linkage and it has never had a problem yet, but it makes sense I did seem it was strange it was sitting that way. I have seen other videos with the same mower where the linkage is put on the exact same way, although I have figured out a different way to install it.

    Nice presentation but I would have just drained the gas and replace with New gas and an additive. My car is slightly different. I smiled when you mentioned the bolt spacers as it happened to me. Thanx!

      I like it because it is a quiet engine and it's light and easy to move around. I am going to add a fuel shut-off soon and will do a video for it.

    Very well done. NIce closeups and clear explanation. Just got my first freebie Lawnboy which won't start so this vid will be useful. Question - had you already checked that there was no spark? That wasn't clear.

    • @frankiefixdiy
      @frankiefixdiy  2 роки тому

      Means a lot mark, I do my best with what I have. I do not remember but typically I check spark first before getting into anything else because it's much easier removing a spark plug than having to take apart the carb and clean it right?

    I just picked up a lawn boy with the same engine. Original owner said it had a 3 year warranty but there was an 8 week waiting list for service. He couldn't wait 8 weeks so sold it for an 1/8th of what he paid a year and a half ago

    I will do a follow up video on the auto choke linkage installation for those who find mowers and find that maybe things work but are out of place, so we check the service manual to be sure things are up to snuff. Video shortly. Thanks everyone!

      The Lawn Boy mower I am working on is just like the one you have but the black fuel/vacuum line on the carburetor you are showing is not there. I see a nipple coming out just above the bowl but I don't see any place for the other end on the area above the main fuel line. Does the hose go to the black auto-choke unit
      on that side?

    • @frankiefixdiy
      @frankiefixdiy  3 роки тому

      @@martinmess4084 Hmmm. Well if it is indeed the exact same model then it must be missing unless they used a different carb for yours. A photo would help but not sure you can send one here. did you find this mower? that may be the crankcase breather hose that is missing.

    Linkage was installed incorrectly. It’s supposed to be installed in the hole from the bottom going up and to the bottom again. The way how you did it is just dropped the linkage in to the hole, and it’ll come loose later because of vibration.

    Nice job, Just working on one today that looks exactly like it with a number of 10603, My question is, the bolt on the bottom also a jet? Mine looks solid or is so full of debris.. Only thing I didnt do is take the carb off but have a feeling it's going to happen.

    • @frankiefixdiy
      @frankiefixdiy  2 роки тому

      Thank you Ed glad it helped. Just try to use thin wire and poke it, it could be a jet but the only way to identify is it will have a hole, it can easily be cleaned using a wire, if it's solid, it's not a jet, it's just a plug.

    Not draining your fuel for the season would be half 1/2 people’s problem. How many people know how to drain it out if the carburetor for the season? I don’t have a Lawnboy but I was trying to get one started and I was looking for the primer button but I see it doesn’t have one like my own lawnmower has, which is another brand. I can’t remember if the lawn boy had a shut off valve to turn off the gas.

  • @wndrvisiontv2927

    Thanks for the video. I was running this exact mower today, and i got a plume of white/blue smoke, followed by a period where the engine sounded like it was 'hunting', and smoke was pooring out of the exhaust. Turned it off, now it won't turn back on. Could this be breather? rings? gasket? if so, do you have a video for this?

    • @frankiefixdiy
      @frankiefixdiy  2 роки тому

      how is the oil level? It is overfilled with oil? Do you see any oil leaking from the sides of the engine? Just go through it step by step be sure all those things are cleaned out. If it were the rings, you may not get compression, so remove the spark plug, put your finger on the hole and pull the string, do you feel air coming out of the spark plug hole? Just basic checks.

    I can't wrap my head around the idea that my lawn-boy mower, same engine, brand new, will not start. It's never been easy to start. If I manually prime the carb by pouring gas or spraying some gogo juice into it, it fires off no problem, so what the hell, how could it be the carburettor that's brand new. I was thinking of slightly increasing the jetting but if by just cleaning it works, I don't get it.

      I have experienced this as well, it seems tipping it on it's side to the left for about 10 seconss or more then pulling the rope seems to let the gas flow into the carb.

      just some basics maybe you covered but did you change the gas, clean the fuel tank? and do you have a tight gasket seal with the new carb?
