Great video TR of the layout getting bigger and taking shape more and more. I like the L Shape to accommodate lots of switching etc. Thanks for sharing your videos and look fwd to seeing the next one!
Phenomenal video. Very informate. I never have luck with atlas turnouts. Every one I've purchased only opens or closes and I've had to replace them many times. I'm using Bachmann's now. Work fantastic & quiet.

Who makes your grey ballast seen in the yard? I need to also find out where you get your inspiration. I've been buying the kits and the vehicles and cars that will serve them, now I remembered that you shot this early last spring. Have you told your followers what we should expect the layout to look like when it is done?
The ballast is by Woodland Scenics. I usually get my inspiration for real railroads or videos on UA-cam of other peoples layouts. I actually have a new layout since this one so the one in the video is gone
I am amazed you did not have to install any type of Frog juicer or insulated rail joiners for your Turnouts. I used Code 100 peco...and finally got my Modular extension to work...but OH boy all the extra Frog wiring was a nightmare. It all works...but I like your simplicity of your Atlas Turnouts. So no extra wiring of your frogs? No start and stops? Thanks for the tips... and Liked your video. 😁
Oh man yeah I’ve seen the wiring for doing frogs and turnouts and I’ll say they look stressfull. I plan for this layout to be fairly simple like you say. Luckily enough the Atlas Turnouts are DCC safe so there’s no need for that. I appreciate the comments 😁😎
Congrats on 3K! Nice little episode here, so excited for twice weekly videos. So what are you going to do with that other section of track that goes out? Some sort of industrial track or something for a loop? You should get some automatic switch machines so you can control your switches remotely. What are you going to do about roadbed? Just leave the tracks flat and ballast them that way? Can't wait for the next episode, the amount of progress recently has been crazy, great job!
Thank you so much man! And yeah I should’ve explained a little more in the video but it will be a small industry not sure what yet. Switch machines would be awesome, I may have to look into some in the future. And I might do road bed but I may end up just waiting on the next large section
@@TopRailroad Awesome! Good to have lots of industries along the line, it'll make it more fun to ho scale railfan on. Maybe it could be some sort of lumber or oil industry, who knows.
Love the videos and seeing the progress. You may have some issues running your longer engines/cars over the cross over. It could just be the thumbnail makes it look worse than it is.
It could just be the thumbnail, I had no problems on my last layout with larger engines going through the same kind of crossover. Thanks for looking out! Also for the kind comment 👍🏼
Wow! This was an unexpected surprise! When do you think you will get more Locomotives/Rolling stock? What happened to those trains that you got at that thrift store?
It’s just for more realism. The Atlas track brand new has black ties and the rails are 100% shiny. Track in real life is always rusted except for the very top where the wheels run over and the ties are never just black. So the dark brown paint makes it look way better from all angles
@@TopRailroad Before you the spray rails, run a very thin coat of chap-stick along the rail tops, then spray away. Removing the rail top spray will be a breeze. Always looking forward to your next video!! - Alex/ EL3672
looks, great.👍
Moments of truth are a little nerve racking sometimes but you are very confident in your work….like your modular approach
Man oh man you are having so much fun ... I love it ... building an empire , and man do I love your explanations...This is one of the best
Your comments are the best! Thank you
Congratulations on 3 k..awesome..thanks for sharing and keep up the great work..Lance

Thank you! But oh gosh hopefully I don’t run into the same issue
Great addition! Love the progress. Thanks for the bonus video. You do amazing work.
Thank you Mark! Much appreciated
Very nicely done ♐ 👍
Very cool!

What if you want to have two or more engines on your layout? Maybe consider Atlas Selectors.
Hey mate cool video👍. Great work coming together well.

😊
Your layout is awesome bro, just a question, will there be grade crossings? I’m a fan of railroad crossings
Yes! I plan on doin a 2 lane road hopefully soon
@@TopRailroad i may have an idea of adding a abandoned track somewhere in the layout.
An abandoned track would be a realistic addition 🧐
@@TopRailroad Or make the industrial track look really rough. NSmodeler24 (not sure if you've watched him) has a good tutorial on making bad track
Great job and congrats for 3k subs
Thank you! 😁
I wouldn’t recommend using atlas, I’d recommend Peco, they are more accurate, and are better for the engines
instead of cutting the plastic at the end of the track, why not just heat the rail joiners so that they melt the plastic when put in place?
Great job . When you spray your track does the paint cause any problems with the switches?
No thankfully. When I do spray the switches I don’t go too crazy though
When will you put your buildings back on your layout?
I’ll have the sugar mill back on in todays video 😁

Nice I like using n scale atlas switches is their gonna be a another go scale layout update?
I’ll have one this Friday 😁👍🏼
@@TopRailroad good can't wait
Im confused why do you paint your tracks i hav never painted any.of my track
I paint it so the side of the rails look a little more realistic, it’s not needed but I like to do it
I have a question about this layout so far. Why is there no roadbed?
I didn’t go with it on here since there were lots of sidings and not just mainline. It’s just how I do it but you can use cork roadbed if you like
Wow! This was an unexpected surprise!
When do you think you will get more Locomotives/Rolling stock?
What happened to those trains that you got at that thrift store?
Not sure yet, I want to get some utility vehicles first but idk haha. The ones I got at the thrift are just in storage for now
“For now”
Can you explain again why you paint your tracks?
It’s just for more realism. The Atlas track brand new has black ties and the rails are 100% shiny. Track in real life is always rusted except for the very top where the wheels run over and the ties are never just black. So the dark brown paint makes it look way better from all angles

Why use code 100 instead of 83?
It’s mostly cause I had code 100 to start with. Although I do know code 83 is more prototypical
What’s the theme and railroad for the layout
It’s gonna be a BNSF Subdivision in Colorado, in modern times maybe within the last 20 years
Sounds like a good layout ps get a lot of aces
@@colestrainsandthings932 lol thats what im sayin!!
Why do you paint your track
So it looks a little more realistic. Especially the side of the rails
