What do I love about Will Lee besides his awesome chops? He's always totally into whatever he's playing. He is one of the most enthusiastic musicians I have ever seen, and it's genuine.
@@axeman2638 You probably did not like Berry Oakley or Jaco either........"off in their own world" but as with Will Lee here TOTALLY LOCKED into the groove. Will Lee played like this too with Hiram Bullock......great.
I saw Koinonia in Stockholm many years ago and Alex switched with Bill Maxwell from percussion to drums on a couple of tunes. And wow! It suddenly started to sound Good, swingin and grooving.
Love that "Swinging on a Star" quote from Mr. Ford at 3:00. I learned this song from his instructional video back in the 90s. Those lessons changed my entire guitar world.
The night I saw Robben, I simply stood there with my feet planted, arms crossed, didn't budge for two hours. The best I ever saw with me own eyes are Larry Coryell and Robben Ford with his brilliant band, the Blue Line. He's far more than a great guitarist. He's a peach of a guy, a gentleman, like Brian May. Oh, and Robben can play that sax solo himself.
Russell Ferrante's composition "Revelation". Alex Acuna on drums and Will Lee on bass. Amazing groove. Makes me smile every time I watch this. Inspired playing all around. As Letterman was fond of saying, "more fun than humans should be allowed to have!" For more like this, treat yourself to Robben Ford and Russell on Yellowjackets "Mirage A Trois".
In my visual of you guys the smallest kid is imitating Will's basslines, the middle wild kid is taking all the solos, someone is on air drums, and mom's holding down keys, on dashboard, arms between steering wheel, while everyone's heads do Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles imitations- you know, the bobbing side to side with eyes closed!
Will Lee is always rock’n with whomever he sits in with. The best was on Letterman when Steve Winwood showed up. I thought he and the back up singer were going to hit lights they were jumping so high!
:)) Right on! I started as a bass player (then guitar), still feel one and have my 1972 Precision, and Will effin' Lee is possibly my favorite Fender bass-player of them all! I adore Robben too, maybe my #1 reference on guitar, but I feel Will plays even closer to perfection with good ole "Uncle Funky", Cornell Dupree; that outfit is incredibly tight and Richard Tee lays it even more churchy-groovy than this. Also: Robben's original bass anchor, Roscoe Beck, is huge too, although less known than Will for not having "played around" as much. He plays extremely tightly in sync with his leader, it's a real joy! :)
Bonjour, Asalam ou'Alaykoum, Merci beaucoup pour avoir partagé cette vidéo. Je ne connaissais ce titre avec Ferrante et Ford, il est excellent. encore merci. Cordialité distinguée. Philippe Abd al-Hakim.
Good timin' some awesome talent. Love this tune, and if you're a guitar junior it's a good one to woodshed the changes. Coverd nicely in Robben's "The Blues & Beyond" book. Tricky!
Robben Ford ripping and at the peak of his of playing. All top-notch musos. Never could work out why he stopped using that Fender Sig model. The tones are perfect for his style.
+CJ Christopher You know, I'm a huge fan of Robben Ford and the Yellowjackets, and this whole style, and this is one of my favorite songs ... but you're right! It DOES sound like Family Ties or some shit. Still love it though. Blues for middle class whites I guess.
Director (to the camera operator): Whatever you do is fine. But please, PLEASE, just make sure that, during Robben's solo, you do WHATEVER IT TAKES to avoid showing his hands!
No, push on is wrong. I saw that tour, too. Robben was definitely 7...his elementary school let him skip 2nd grade but he was allowed to earn credits for touring with george - methinks push on was possibly kidding...
Came for the Robben Ford. But Jebus, that bass by Will Lee is astonishing.
it's completely ridiculous!
What do I love about Will Lee besides his awesome chops? He's always totally into whatever he's playing. He is one of the most enthusiastic musicians I have ever seen, and it's genuine.
he's not listening to the drummer, off in his own world.
@@axeman2638 were you listening to the same track I was? They are very locked in. Nice tight shuffle groove.
@@mrufino1 go and listen more closely, Lee is not listening to the drummer at all, no eye contact between them. could drive a truck between them.
There is ear contact. There is groove contact. They kick butt together
@@axeman2638 You probably did not like Berry Oakley or Jaco either........"off in their own world" but as with Will Lee here TOTALLY LOCKED into the groove. Will Lee played like this too with Hiram Bullock......great.
Amazing playing by Robben Ford! 03:49 Goosebumps all the way! Robben must be one of the most lyrical guitarist ever!!
Sugar & Spice and Everything Nice!
I can't get over great Alex Acuna and Will Lee swing together.
Alex Acuna is killing it along with Will Lee. Smokin' Shuffling.
I saw Koinonia in Stockholm many years ago and Alex switched with Bill Maxwell from percussion to drums on a couple of tunes. And wow! It suddenly started to sound Good, swingin and grooving.
bassist on another planet.. Go Lee!!
Bob Malach is a great, underrated saxophonist.
@@heldon17 No, no,no......😀
Not amongst sax-players.
@@seriousoldman8997 I hear you.
It's a good day when I have kind of forgotten about this tune, and I can listen to it fresh again, and enjoy how insanely good it is.
The whole band is smokin' hot!
You gotta love alex acuna on the kit....
Yep. Doin' nothing, and still stealing the show. Basically with a kick, a snare, a high-hat & a ride cymbal.
mitologici.... che bella musica.... grazie!!!!!
Bob Malach super ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏
🎶 Blues, Gospel, Jazz, Rock &c. 😊 Great Music 🎼 🎵 👏 ✌️ 👌
Love the joy of all the band mates !
Bob Malach - my hero is killin' it!
Robbens Solo gave me chills. Sheesh
Robben’s tone &sustain!
My doorman just called. Apparently my neighbors don't appreciate Will Lee's thumping groves as much as I do...
One more good reason for home ownership
Lol!
We must live in the same neighborhood!
Lol
Robben always offers endless juicy licks.
Will Lee killin it
Too busy at times. Leave some room for the funk...
... from Will Lee
Busy as hell. Great player tho
Absolutely annihilating it holy shit Amazing
"Revelatrice"!... what a great composition by Russell Ferrante, what a shuffle, excellently played!
taking it to church, baby! How is it possible to have that much talent on one stage?
Just one of the best versions of this tune. Bob Malach a real master....
Great sax playing brother.
Will Lee is all over the place! He's EVERYWHERE! Frigging Spiderman
Jeez. Even listening on my phone Will’s bass is so crisp and tight! Great band. Great mix.
Das ist unglaublich, was die machen.robben und bob.spitze....
Love that "Swinging on a Star" quote from Mr. Ford at 3:00. I learned this song from his instructional video back in the 90s. Those lessons changed my entire guitar world.
Will Lee is a god on the bass. Simply the best we got.
There is a great version of this song on Robben's album "Talk to your Daughter". Still have the CD. Awesome stuff! 👍❤🙏
I originally got it on Cassette Tape!
I have this on tape since 1990 and still envoy it !
Unbelievable bass!!
Will Lees hair and moves, epic!
Prince Valiant. Will and Larry Carlton would've been too much. 🙂

6:10!
Robben is a Singular talent, and a heck of a nice guy! I would have loved to have been there.
One of my all time favorite music videos ever!! All the players not a weak link in the bunch!!
I love the swinging on a star quote in Robben's Solo.
What a fantastic jam. I can't get it out of my head! Just the way I like it!
Imagine being able to play over those changes, let alone solo, and solo masterfully?
Will Lee is a beast.
A true classic and great performance
Bob Malach!!!
Robben at the top of his game.
All of em
Great solo Robben Ford 👍👍👍👍😎
Will Lee @ 3:31....damn you Sir !
Will Lee
The greatest ❤️
Great player... But does he have a real style?
He is the best. Just introduced to him recently listening to Earl Klugh- I heard it through the grapevine. What a talent!!!!
@@callingchristiano Yup. A very musical one. 😉

Bob Malach
Thanks man! Enjoy it as well!!
My favorite Yellowjackets song. My kids used to sing this one from their car seats, I played it so much.

bob is a master among masters :)
I love the quote from 'Farmer's Market' by Robben Ford at 2:59. One of my favorite all time songs by this band.
Wasn't that quote Twisted by Lambert Hendricks & Ross (or Joni Mirchell)?
I heard a quote from Wardell Gray's original tenor sax solo on Twisted which got lyrics added to it by Annie Ross later..
I have heard Dexter Gordon and Jimmy Griffin make that quote.
I think was swinging on a star.
"A mule is an animal with long funny ears," from Bing Crosby's 1944 hit, "Swinging on a Star" ua-cam.com/video/9CDs067081E/v-deo.html

Sooooooo goood!
Great band !! Love it so much !!!!!!
Will Lee is killing it, just as are Robben , Russell etc al....
Loving seeing Bob Malach nearly corpse at the big corny blues OTT ending as he looks across at Robben . And what a performance by all concerned !
Acura really laying it down!

This sounds like an intro to a 90's family sitcom or something. It's fucking awesome though.

Vertuouso Alex Acuna!

the best tripet bass line practice
