Watercress Line - Pre-Spring Steam Gala - 10/2/2018

To kick off the 2018 Heritage Railway season, the Mid-Hants railway held their annual Pre-Spring Steam Gala over the 9th-11th February. The build up to the gala was a nail-biter with a big question mark over the availability of Black 5s 45379 and 45231 due to repairs.
The event, which ran well despite the truly horrible weather, featured both freight and passenger workings as well as a number of double headed trains.
Locomotives featured:
Resident:
- BR Standard 4MT 2-6-0 no. 76017
- SR V "Schools" Class no. 925 "Cheltenham"
- LMS Ivatt 2MT Tank no. 41312
- LMS "Black 5" no. 45379
Visiting:
- LMS "Black 5" no. 45231 "The Sherwood Forester" (from Locomotive Services Ltd)
- GWR "1500" Class no. 1501 (from the Severn Valley Railway)

I only managed to see notice the tripod at the end. For most of this footage I was elsewhere. but I was there today. :D I wanted to get on the black 5 double at the end, but being 15 minutes late, decided against it incase was late getting back.

Great 1st video of 2018. The double black fives were great to see. Shame the 2nd planned guest couldnt make it. But im sure 1501 made up for it did she do any sole runs up the whole line?

Thanks, yep a shame about the other guest but at least they got the fives running. Yeah 1501 did some round trips alone but I didn’t see any of them unfortunately.
