This is incredible, in every sense of the word. You've taken a game that takes me over an hour to beat and did it in less time than it takes for me to make popcorn.
Michael Meng fast mode doesnt change much of your time, that's been a while that most of my runs are sub 30 minutes, and i don't use fast mode. It's more about practice than software.
You're probably right lol. I just got the game for a few hours when I posted the previous comment, and 10 hours into the game I find myself on Act 3 often around the 20 minute mark. So gameplay is definitely more vital to time.

for those still wondering, there was a bug that let you cancel out of dialogs/choices, it's used 2x here: one to cancel the transform on pandora's box which ends up removing all strikes/defends, and one that cancels receiving the curse on necronomicon. Patched out, which is why this run uses the unpatched version. At that point it's just str buffing, vulnerable, and philosophers stone on 3rd map to wombo combo every time. you could easily theoretically get faster just with better RNG in shops and card rewards (if you get buffed cards you don't need to spend any time in smithing and could potentially buy a relic that is better gold spent) but the odds of even getting THIS rng (with glitches version) is pretty low to begin with to somehow improve on that... pretty low chance.
The only thing I had trouble following was the Pandora’s Box glitch. He was halfway through the City by the time I realized he was on a 5-card deck and I had to rewind and re-watch that part about 4 times before I realized what was going on. Felt mildly cheated at first, because I thought I’d been missing out on the option to just dump all my strikes and defends for free off a single relic, but reading that it’s a patched-out glitch makes me feel slightly better now. 😅

Yeah, I tried to make a deck with the Silent with only 5 cards using the one card that does 50 damage to all enemies if your hand is empty but I was never able to thin down my deck enough

I guess it was a glitch involving exiting before the cards are actually added to the deck? They returned to the map before seeing them, so that’s all I can imagine
Its a known bug and an exploit speedrunners use. If u press the map key (not sure about this) when its supposed to show you the cards that were transformed you just lose all of them instead of keeping them in the deck. So you are left with only the stuff you added + bash.
I was confused as well. Till i went back and watched it in 0.25 speed. He transformed the strikes and defends and then just declined all the cards given. I dont think this is an option anymore as im pretty sure upto 9 card removal for a single relic is WAY overpowered
the only problems i have with WR like this are that when the glitch used to get it is removed (not taking cards glitch using the map key) then it is near impossible for other to compete. with that in mind each time a WR making/breaking glitch is found/removed it changes the entire game for speedrunning. honestly the pandoras box glitch alone is equivalent to remtoving 9 cards leaving you with only a single hand.
if it was seeded, i don’t see why they wouldn’t try again. this run was amazing but not entirely flawless, some seconds could be shaved. and we all know how speedrunners feel about shaving seconds

I don’t know if it’s still works, but it was possible to cancel the card gain. So Pandora would transform the cards but you glitch them out of your deck by going into settings.
Yep, this also holds for Duplication Potions, and the "play twice" cards (Double Tap, Burst, Echo Form, Omniscience -- although Omniscience is pretty expensive so you need a lot of energy to then use an X-cost card effectively). Super powerful combo if you can set it up
Being able to not accept the transformed cards from Pandora’s box has been patched it seems. I wish this game let you alter your starting deck. Just not enough control in the game.
It still works, I just did a Pandora's Box skip last week. Also you should try the modded section of the game, to the right of the Daily Climb, it has mods to choose your starting cards, etc.

Here with a really late analysis After watching at 0.25x he had opened the map when he took the box and it gave him the cards but he hit the return button from the map deleting them.

Thumos that’s what I was thinking the whole time. That flex-shockwave-necronomicon-whirlwind combo worked out pretty ideally for this type of run. If I had to guess I would wager north of 75 runs.
so is sub 5 with the glitch. all the runs are, for the most part, luck based. Skill definitely comes into it, but the skill cieling isnt too high in a card game when it comes to speedrunning. its mostly luck

id recommend opening fast mode (or whatever you call it) to up ur speed. Before i took 70 min to beat, after fast mode about 45 min.

I usually do my popcorn at 2min 30 sec, more than 4min 30 sec is gonna burn your popcorn.
