I forgot how genius that subtitle scare 25:42 was. Meta level scares always freak me out the most. I also like how the hospital automated voice does a similar thing later on, too.
THE OG MOD THAT EVERYBODY WAS PLAYING BACK IN THE DAY. This game used to make me on edge all the time, I'm glad that you are revisiting this OG mod! Librarian you always make my day thank you!
I am so nostalgic for this mod series. I also remember the Source engine updates broke a few things in the original release, notably the pistol reload sounds. A standalone release will do this a loooot of good, and if a reimagined version of the prologue uses proprietary assets, it'll be a massive banger.
NH2 Was revolutionary in many things, but what I consider a marvel of it, from what I learned in the developer files, was the ASS. (Automated Scare System) A box outside of the map filled with various entities that would play subtle scares upon a random timer interval. It was the first time I encountered a map-based system with that level of consistency, and I suppose it is the best you can do without going full in and rewriting the engine itself.
Ok, this is really awesome. I remember watching your first playthrough of Nightmare House that you did 4 years ago and seeing it officially on Steam is really cool. I would love to see you redo some of your old series like Cry of Fear. I love that game.
An absolute legendary mod that holds up very well today. It's no wonder these devs went on to make their own original games, like The Chinese Room team. I played this back in 2010, and revisited it a few years ago.
Here's a small tip for this game as well as Half Life 2. If you put away a weapon that isn't fully loaded, after a short timer, the weapon automatically reloads itself.
Great job once again, Librarian!!!!! Also, if possible, please do another Long Drive. I think they’ve updated it too. My boyfriend and I really miss watching that together. We have been watching you for 3 years.
I'm going crazy. I swear I remember someone playing this or some other horror map but they ended up having the, "Hour of silence occasionally broken by the Bad to the Bone Opening Riff," playing in the background the entire time. It was absolutely incredible and I wish I could find that video again, but I don't remember who it was.
As far as I'm aware, the prologue was the original Nightmare House, and the rest is the sequel that released years later. It included the prologue though, so now the whole thing is Nightmare House 2. Kinda confusing.
The announcer room at 2:05:28 is a very complex easter egg. You see - in this room your flashlight does not work, however there is another flashlight in the game that becomes available for pickup a couple of minutes before you enter that room, try that one.
if anyone watching is wondering what half-life 2 is, you, gordon freeman, wake up in "City 17" after a cruel alien assimilation known as "The Combine" has enslaved humanity and other non-earth species. your mission is to take down a tower taller than any other called the "Citadel", where the spokesman for its twisted operations resides. The thing that made it so special, however, is it puts focus into environmental storytelling and believable characters than any other fps did back then.
Could you be persuaded into playing Pineview Drive? It's a slow burn horror, where you have to live in a haunted mansion for a few days, exploring new areas and learning it's secrets each day. Kinda reminiscent of Scratches. I think it's perfect for your style of playing.
:( he said he was doing half life 2 videos on his patreon? i cant afford to patreon :( i think ive played half life 2 and the episodes through more times than i can count with each time observing new things and learning new stuff about the source engine, and its just a masterpiece of a game, ive started another playthrough recently too happy to see this though

“Hello everyone and welcome- *i see you back there* to nightmare house”

Nightmare House yesssss, this one's a classic, absolutely loved this one. Didn't know a reimagining was en route, can't understate how hyped I am.

It's wonderful to witness this classic in the present day, I've had great memories of the second game and it's a blast of the past to see this now.
Man, NH2 still has such top notch sound design. And scares that may have become tropey later in other games, but they actually work here.

This was the first I've heard of _Nightmare House: Reimagined._ I just now watched the trailer.
Time to put that on my wishlist!
🕯️💚 Yay! A late cup of tea and some spooky ness

Yeah, pretty good mod!! Sadly we never going to have part three... (In sound mind 2 maybe?!)

I always thought this was Nightmare house 2.. but I think they re-released it as "Nightmare house"

*Nightmare House 3 Will Be Set On The Moon*, anyone else remember this?

Seems like the librarians been experiencing some “anemoia”
I’ve been watching your channel for five years man, keep up the good work!
Glad you're playing a classic Source mod just in time when Half-Life 2 turns 20.

Man, i love how he is still referencing INFRA after almost a year.
This was awesome, it kept my attention all the way till the end, 2 hours flew by. Thank you. 🙂
"I am no longer happy" lmao
The "big shiny metal thing" at 57:22 is referred to as a head mirror.
What a throwback
