    I probably would have installed a threaded union where the coupling was just to make future repairs easier because those ball valves and RPZs break often. Wish I could find someone who wouldn't balk at a $2000 bill....

      Plus one on the threaded union if you're back in after two years. It will easily pay for itself.

    Small bit of advice from a former plumber and current multi family maintenance man. If you have done this same thing for a customer before sounds like winterizing is falling on deaf ears. Sweat in a union in place of the coupler and this will make the next replacement much quicker.

      @@Rprecision wilkins internals are locally available here and to rebuild one is about $25 vs $130 for the whole valve. Also a lot less labor. Yoy can buy the parts individually as well, so there goes your theory.

    • @Rprecision
      @Rprecision 2 роки тому +2

      @All About Roofing internals isn't the problem when they freeze and crack the valves or housing. They whole point of my original comment isn't that you could never rebuild one, (although many you cant) the point is when the valve is frozen its more cost effective to replace. So you replace a cracked valve all to find the main housing is also cracked and leaking, did you or your customer just save money? How do you think I learned that one? Hint, because it happened several times. It's not theory, go ahead rebuild them all you want I could care less.

For a yearly fee you would take care of all the annual maintenance for the property ( i.e. winterize ext. water lines, gutter cleaning, HVAC filter change, HVAC cleaning, water heater flush, etc.)? Yeah, I get that but if he charges the same amount each time as in he bills for this job not time. He can cut the labor time down and make his hourly earning increase. Like I said it's just a thought I'm not sure how he bills for this. But if he typically charges $100 for this and he buys a slp joint fitting not necessarily shark bite brand but of the same style and now instead of it taking 30mins it may only take 10mins and he can do more and still make the same amount for less time.
