For as long as I can remember, every time I go on vacation with my family in the car, we have to play Deep Purple. The trip always kicks off on the road with a shout of "WE'RE GOING ON VACATION," and then "Highway Star" starts, and we all clap. We listen to "Machine Head" in its entirety, followed by "Perfect Strangers" and "Who Do We Think We Are" out of habit. We also enjoy other bands like Rainbow, Van Halen, Whitesnake, and Dio. Now that I'm 32 years old, I feel lucky if I get to share that moment with them. Whenever I travel with other people, I have to do that ritual because it means the vacation is going to be great. It used to be on cassette, then CD, USB, and now Spotify, but the spirit remains the same. The love of family and friends combined with great music like Deep Purple, creates a magical experience. Thank you for continuing to make new music. Even though I haven't met you, I love you and I am grateful for always being with me throughout my life. I remember being a sophomore in high school when Machine Head came out and several songs were frequently played on the radio. I still love that album and even though I no longer own the vinyl I still listen to it often on UA-cam Music.
Oh man... I'm 75 years old and my juices are flowing again hearing Ian Gillan sing. Age has nothing to do with rock 'n roll, baby. THIS is the best rock music in the whole damn world. Nobody but NOBODY today can touch their blazing star. We never got burned listening to Deep Purple--we only got hot, Hot, HOT.
As a 58 years old kid, I still carefully hear what the older guys have to say. That was the case back when I was 14 and a friend, very old at 17, showed me Deep Purple on vynil. never ceased being a fan. I hear you now.
First song from the new album sounded like the Deep Purple I grew up on in the 70's. I was stunned. I thought that magic was long gone, but no, it's DEEP FUCKING PURPLE! It got me excited about the band again. This new track is great! I'm really looking forward to buying the album and playing it so loud that my neighbors will get to enjoy it, too. I'm 62, and these new songs make me feel like I'm back in Jr High School in the 1970's! Thank you, Deep Purple!

Still, its not Machine Head...or Burn. Those young men have gone. The energy/urgency levels are way down. Now its a strong groovy laid back 4 stroke as opposed to a screaming fanging 2 stroke motor.
The changes in "Pictures of You" are very appealing to the ear. The song builds and it builds. The climactic bridge where Ian "laughs" then it goes into the solo is fantastic! The song ends in a reflective melodic outro. Rockers of today can take a lesson from the great Deep Purple on how to construct an amazing new rock song!

Gillan's voice at 78 is amazing! No wear whatsoever. If anything, his midrange sounds thicker than ever. And a great DP tune, so recognisable, the sound, the pocket, the arrangements. Although nobody can really replace RB an JL, it's still DP all the way... Love it.

Иэн Гиллан очень хорош в своём сольном проекте Ian Gillan Band, но лучше Дип Пурпле, чем с Коведейлом нет! И не будет! 👍 Да и в целом лучше Ковердейла нет никого. Близок Ландэ, но когда постарается очень.

Ian has only gotten better and better as a singer as he is aged. He doesn't have the vocal chops he did in the '70s or even the '80s or even in the '90s when I manage their website but he still has an amazing vocal tone and range
In my family, we are listening to Deep Purple for 2 generations. My father and my uncle made me listen to them from my childhood, since this music was their favorite during their youth. Now I am 23, with my father being 52 and my uncle being 57, and when we get together we still listen to DP with great joy. Even my grandfather knows and likes their music (so maybe I can say three generations in my family) even though he does not listen too much rock. 4 days ago, I have finally been able to see them live in Istanbul, and it was a truly magical experience for me. Thank you so much for your music Deep Purple, thank you for making us listen to your delightful music for nearly 60 years and three generations, as a band you are a blessing to mankind.

Grew up listening to this band. I'm 52 and I discovered them back in '85-86 after the release of Perfect Strangers. Then I found their seventies' and late sixties' gems and, of course, all the new stuff they have created since. Seen them about 10 times on stage (otherwise you do not really appreciate how talented they are), even flying to London in 2002 to witness Mr. Lord's final features, when I had the pleasure of getting some vinyl covers signed by Mr. Glover, Mr. Paice and Mr. Morse. They are, alongside with Iron Maiden and Scorpions, the soundtrack of my life and now their heritage belongs to my children as well. Don't you ever give up, guys!
Their is a lot of ways to make money and music espacialy rock is the worst way especially in the internet age If this isn't for the music then it's for the good old days.
I am 55 years old and have been listening to Deep Purple since a teenager. For me this is the best Deep Purple song since 1996 "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming". True classic Deep Purple sound and a very catchy tune. Gillans voice is still golden, the whole band plays beautifullly, just like in the good old days. It took 28 long years to wait but was surely worth waiting for!

Мне 69 и я с института люблю и уважаю этих ребят! Они не сломались несмотря на понесенные потери состава с уходом Ричи Блекмора и ушедшим из жизни великого Джона Лорда! Конечно с их выбыванием и в силу возраста мы уже не можем рассчитывать на какие то шедевры, но то, что они все таки создавали и то, как до сих пор исполняют ранние лучшие вещи дорогого стоит!!! Музыканты поколений 40-50 годов подарили миру уникальные таланты и шедевры! Они создали ряд оригинальных и неповторимых друг на друга групп, чего не скажешь о современных музыкантах, их в сравнении с теми монстрами, просто можно сказать, нет...

Ian has only gotten better and better as a singer as he is aged. He doesn't have the vocal chops he did in the '70s or even the '80s or even in the '90s when I manage their website but he still has an amazing vocal tone and range

In my family, we are listening to Deep Purple for 2 generations. My father and my uncle made me listen to them from my childhood, since this music was their favorite during their youth. Now I am 23, with my father being 52 and my uncle being 57, and when we get together we still listen to DP with great joy. Even my grandfather knows and likes their music (so maybe I can say three generations in my family) even though he does not listen too much rock.
4 days ago, I have finally been able to see them live in Istanbul, and it was a truly magical experience for me. Thank you so much for your music Deep Purple, thank you for making us listen to your delightful music for nearly 60 years and three generations, as a band you are a blessing to mankind.

Grew up listening to this band. I'm 52 and I discovered them back in '85-86 after the release of Perfect Strangers. Then I found their seventies' and late sixties' gems and, of course, all the new stuff they have created since. Seen them about 10 times on stage (otherwise you do not really appreciate how talented they are), even flying to London in 2002 to witness Mr. Lord's final features, when I had the pleasure of getting some vinyl covers signed by Mr. Glover, Mr. Paice and Mr. Morse. They are, alongside with Iron Maiden and Scorpions, the soundtrack of my life and now their heritage belongs to my children as well. Don't you ever give up, guys!

I am 55 years old and have been listening to Deep Purple since a teenager.
For me this is the best Deep Purple song since 1996 "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming".
True classic Deep Purple sound and a very catchy tune. Gillans voice is still golden, the whole band plays beautifullly, just like in the good old days. It took 28 long years to wait but was surely worth waiting for!
Yes, "Perpendicular" is a masterpiece!
