It's a really great comparison video, good job! I missed some more leadwork maybe. For me it's no question the Full Shred is superior, at least in clean sections. You can hear every aspect of the guitar and it's a really diverse pickup. I'm a big fan of it, I hope some day I can get my hands on a pair. For distorted tones the stock pickups are not bad either. What do you think?
Hi Peter, thanks a lot for your comment! I absolutely agree with everything you said. I did not want to noodle around because I was worried that I couldn't play the same thing correctly :D You can refer to the fake blues section I played for more lead comparison in the video.
Full Shred is a wonderful pickup, has just become my favourite. I first tested it on a Charvel Pro Mod DK24 guitar and even took the risk for the neck version. Both gives a very distinct sound. Super58 pickups are definitely not bad at all. Even for cleans, I like how these sound big and mellow in every position. However, the output was a bit lower than I wanted and they felt too transparent for this guitar. My goal was to make this guitar a better guitar for mid-hi gain tones.
I think the Full Shred has the upper hand, especially if you are into "precision work", but I have to say that i am equally impressed by the Ibanez Super58, they seem to have more breathing space. Cheers!
Hi there, thanks for your comment! I agree, both are great pickups!
Excellent comparisson and great work. What pots are you running? 500k?
Thank you for your comment! I replaced the factory pots with CTS 500K before shooting this video so it'd be fair for both pickup sets. :)
*Although these were supposed to be 500K, one was 455K and the other one was 535K.
