God spoke to me and restored my faith. He literally saved me and I wouldn’t still be here if it wasn’t for his grace and love for me. I was addicted to sex, meth, crack, cigaretts, and alcohol and he took it all away. I live by faith now and I’m satisfied in the grace of God because grace is all the soul needs.
He still has the best smile ever.
In a time where so many people feel like they can't talk about their faith, it's refreshing to see see him not be afraid to talk about how his faith and how it helped him move past the demons in his life. His lesson can be one that could be an inspiration to others, no person is perfect and no one is without sin, but if your lost your faith in whatever higher power you believe in, can help center you and navigate you back to a better place in life.
I liked everything you wrote except the part when you said “whatever you believe in” it doesn’t work that way. You believe in all Mighty God and his son Jesus no other.
@@celestecarrera2963 it's not my place to dictate to others what they believe in and what they don't. As my father used to say you can lead a horse to water, but you can't force them to drink. You can lead a person to religion, but you can't force them to partake. There are lots of people who have many reasons why they have lost their way, but it's not my place to judge them and whatever higher power they believe in that's between them and God, because he's the only one that will judge them in the end.

I'm glad the general trend of civilization is to reject the idiocy and dishonesty of "faith". I have seen all of his movies and the faith based true story of the man who wrote the song " I can only imagine" he played the abusive alcoholic father that later found God during his last days. It was powerful and as in all he does incredible. I have always found him as seriously talented and wow yes handsome with an adorable smile ❤ I'm truly happy to hear he is doing well and has found balance. Beautiful.

"When you're done with the addiction, you need something to fill that hole". Very few people get sober, until they embrace that FACT! I tried to quit drinking 500 times, and failed every time! Why? Because I was totally focused on "not drinking", instead of facing the root problem...ME!
The moment I began to focus on "filling the hole", was the moment I began to recover. I embraced a "design for living" that allowed me to be ok in the midst of chaos, and maybe more importantly, when I was alone with absolutely nothing going on. THAT is the essence of sobriety. No matter what, I don't have to self destruct! For me, that was and is the twelve steps, and I now have more than 29 years of a great life, as evidence that it works. Regardless of the path to recovery, unless a persistent effort is made, the odds are not good. My mantra is "Live in the problem, or live in the solution". It's as simple as that! Excited to listen. We met Dennis in Nashville one and he was so kind and even allowed our group to take a photo with him. He was also super kind to one of the guest on my podcast and asked him to join him singing on stage (Mike Olsen has a miracle story and got a lung transplant, died on the table but is still with us and doing great things). Dennis was great to Mike and it was special for him and a nice blessing given all he had gone through. Blessings Dennis!

Glad to see his transformation. I know addiction is horrible, from personal experience. Was raised a Baptist myself and have returned to Christ.
If I remember correctly, he said that he and brother Randy were saved & baptized together growing up in Houston. They may have gotten off track, but thank God for that praying Mama. I seem to recall him saying his Mom was a praying woman who was doing home Bible Studies even well into her 80s. I have always liked Dennis. There was just something special about him that went beyond his good looks & that adorable impish grin of his. Finding out a while back that he's not only a Native Texan and lefty like myself, but also a fellow Christian was pure joy. It's so good to see him happily married to a Christian wife and living for Christ. I can't believe he's going to be turning 70 next month. Time sure does fly.

Praise God❤ I go to a Baptist church and I love the old hymns. I got saved in 1988. Turned my back for many years; came back into the fold after my husband died. It was a turning point for me because I could’ve went the other way, but Jesus had other plans for me. He never leaves us nor forsake us, it is us who leave him.. Welcome back into the fold Dennis.
How wonderful, to hear of your salvation. Many of us were like restless horses, too busy running through our varied plains to understand what we were running away from was the person we didn't want to be. I too ran aimlessly for many years, but I came to my understanding a number of years ago & now I don't have to run from myself anymore. That sense of peace & understanding has led me home. 😊❤
