My favorite line in this movie is when Ethel turns to Jr. and says, "Would you shut the fuck up?!" lmao

The Friday The 13 Franchise is Something Special
Cory was filming Goonies when this was being filmed. So that's why he's just doing the cameo.
The girl who plays Robin in this movie, she stars in one of the Psycho movies.
To answer your question: yes that guy in the car was improvising, because of the lenient (and questionable) director of this movie most of it was a free for all, leading to all the different weird characters

Friday the 13th part V A New Beginning
Is in my top 3 of all the Friday the 13th Films.
Fans judge this film poorly due to Jason not being the killer (But, in the original Friday the 13th Jason wasn't the killer either But, that Film gets this strange reverence towards it while A New Beginning is the red headed step child that gets very little love and should be looked at in a much higher respect as far as Horror Films (It's Close to flawless) If you told Larry Flynt to direct a FT13 film
Friday the 13th part 5 would be that film
this film is simple but, at the same time layered
Tommy Jarvis returns now played by John Shepherd
Keep in mind up until The Final Friday the survivors were usually Strong Females
Tommy Jarvis would be the only male Character that would live on and be in many ways Jason's nemesis
The film takes place 5 years into the future. (This is also the start of the Friday the 13th Time Line going all over the place) Not really this films fault though Becasue the director's after this didn't add logic to the Big picture (but, back in the 1980's everyone was so coked up I doubt a time line mattered to anyone)
Tommy being a complete basket case (after the events of The Final Chapter) is being transfer to Pinehurst; a halfway house/group home for troubled teens
even the orderly taking him to this place (are sleazy looking grease balls) And I love it
you meet the two Adults (It's set up these two might be the main Characters)
Roy snapped after Joey's death Joey was Roy's son very much like the original Friday the 13th
It's a very slick twist that doesn't make complete sense though
Since Vic murdered Joey not the countless amount of people Roy killed
Vic was used as a red herring but, so was Tommy for that matter it was smart misdirection
The ending was meant to set Tommy up as the new Killer in The Friday The 13th Series
But, things didn't work out that way
One thing everyone should know up front this is a real grindhouse style slasher film long before the grindhouse movement became this hip retro thing! This was in 1985 when VHS was becoming the norm in american homes and President Ronald Reagan was sucking on jellybeans.
It's sleazy and very dirty and tasteless But, it never once pretends it ain't......
Everyone after the fact acted surprised by the final product
They paid Danny Steinmann a good amount to co-write and direct But, they never looked at his previous work....
I call complete BS on anyone who says that! Even Frank Mancuso Jr threw Danny under the bus in that latest documentary. Frank Mancuso Jr. is a typical cooperate suite who's so out of touch it's frighting.
The film is very much a mix between 1970's grindhouse sleaze & 1980's style
The cast is a real motley crue of various actors!
Everyone has a strange part to play some characters have no real point in being there but, they show up and it works
This film is a great example while your under the influence of god knows what you can write Insane trippy things
and it can be brilliant and still insane! Case in point Oliver Stones Natural Born Killers
This film was very much ahead of it's time it tried to be a little too different and payed the price
It's much like the original Friday the 13th a homage to Psycho But, with hardcore sex and death.

Part 5 was singled out and edited the most.
The sex scene between Tina and Eddie was majorly cut down. The scene itself ran around 8 minutes
All the gore and deaths were heavily edited.
Violet death was changed from the original concept I forgot if the original death scene was even filmed.
Part 5 A New Beginning was beyond ambitious it was unique and brave! It tried to do things differently and was sacrificed for it
I could probably write a book on why FT13 part 5 is so good
If i was released uncut it would be on the same level as Lucio Fulci's New York Ripper

There’s just a lot of little plot holes. The killer easy the Paramedic, Roy. Idk if Tommy took the mask or what. They felt it not important to explain for some reason.
Friday the 13th 5 movie takes place in the few years in between 4 and 6 when the TV series take places because it's not about Jason the whole town of Crystal lake is cursed because of something Jason mother did in which will be touched upon in the Jason goes to hell movie.
The TV series is completely unconnected to this movie or any of the others. In fact the TV series wasn’t created until a couple years after this came out. Also the curse in the TV series has to do with a deal the shop owner made with the devil.
Part VI is my fave. It's very self-aware and just a fun popcorn movie.
I always thought the musical score in this movie sounded like 🎵"nah nah nah boo boo"🎵
You have to watch them all, like Halloweens, PERIOD!!! You have no choice!😅 But as someone who saw 1st Halloween at 7yro & 1st F13th at 9 in theaters, i only liked the 1st two of those & wanted to quit watching once they couldn't die. I mean Michael Myers blew up in 2 ffs!😅 Then 1st Nightmare On Elm St came along, then 1st Hellraiser (& i may have liked 2nd in that franchise?🤔 Been so long!😅) & they were so diffetent they were good too, but after those mentioned, it became more like watching pro wrestling (more power to you if how you like to get your kicks!) than having hell scared out of you, so i was done...or would've been, but wasnt obviously, because once I saw 1st one i HAD no choice but to see them all!

The funniest part of this movie was when the African-American kid squeals like a girl as he sees "Jason" for the first time by the ambulance near the end of the film. This is the most annoying of the "Friday the 13th" films just because it is all over the place with its surprises and has very obnoxious characters. That being said, it's still fun to watch (to make fun of with friends and laugh at). I have to say I love your channel and film reviews every week, by the way. Always entertaining to watch. Keep up the great work! 👍😊

Man, I HATED this movie the first time I watched it. But I LOVED the scene of Violet dancing in her room 😂 BTW when you have some time, you should drive up HWY 39 north of Azusa. Near the end of the road is a literal Crystal Lake and campground.
I had the same experience with this movie at first but overtime I grew to like the movie more in a so bad it's funny kinda way .

As I've been able to make it out. Tommy killed everyone save for the one guy the ambulance guy killed at the ambulance. But, they retconned all that by the next movie.

I’ll say this, the killer’s motivation made way more sense to me here than Angela’s in Sleepaway Camp.
The producers really did want to keep Jason dead after calling the last one the final chapter after killing him off. But they also didn’t want to lose the cash cow of a franchise that they could make cheaply. So they developed this, “copycat Jason” concept. It feels a lot to me how they tried to do Halloween 3 without Michael Myers. This is one of the cheaper looking films in the series to me. The director had actually been a porn director in the past. The setting of this movie is a little bit weird too. Not taking place at the actual lake. It’s weird to have a Jason movie without water. I can actually still enjoy this movie in a “so bad, it’s fun” kind of way. A lot of it is very over the top and obviously VERY cocaine fueled. But there are some fun kills, I love demon and his girlfriend (singing to each other while he’s taking a crap is amazing), and some other stuff. Even though the Roy twist just doesn’t work at all
Well for what it’s worth there was a (brief) lake scene in this movie with Eddie after his romp with Tina lol
This is an odd one. I would say it’s a good movie with a bad twist. Although Part VI is my personal favorite of the franchise so that should be cool.
i always thought this was one of the most surreal and funniest entries in the series. I would rather watch this one over part 3, 6, 8, or anything passed 8. Every character in this movie has unstable cocaine energy and I find it really funny.

So glad you’re back! This is one of the worst ones but some bangers are coming from this series. Also, parts 1 + 4 are in my top four Jason movies. Excited to see what you think of part 7!

@@Luca-gr2ei not my opinion. Fact. Look at the reviews and ask bulk of the fandom. Even new reviewers of this movie admit its not the best in the series. If it ain’t the best than it’s one of the worst. One of the worst means that there are a few of the worst and this one happens to be one of them. I care not for opinions. I go by facts. Obviously you like this movie but that doesn’t make it any less bad. Let’s apply criteria- bad killer reveal and motive (it basically rips off the first film but not in a good way). The beloved character of Tommy barely says 20 words across the film despite being the main character. The editing is cheap and you can tell it was directed by a guy who did porn previously, which while it ups the skin factor, doesn’t make the movie great. Also, it makes zero sense that the two greasers in the car and Reggie’s brother and girlfriend were killed when they had nothing to do with Roy’s revenge. At least the other movies make a believable reason for killing random characters but this one doesn’t. Despite being at a facility for mental health, we never see anyone get counseled, which could have added a lot of depth to this movie. I could go on. Keep to your opinion all you want that this isn’t one of the worst movies but the facts prove you wrong every time. Just cause you find other movies in this series to be worse doesn’t suddenly make this movie any less bad than it already is. Please acknowledge that fact and keep your opinions to those who don’t know how to think critically. As I already stated, I’m about facts.

The paramedic, Roy, was definitely the killer in this one. Tommy was a red herring, but he clearly had PTSD from the events of the fourth film, and it was implied that he could snap and become a killer himself in the future.
I wouldn't take the ending of the film too literally. The endings of these films often involve dream sequences. You had Jason jumping out of the lake at the end of the first film, Jason bursting through the window at the end of the second film, and Mrs. Voorhees jumping out of the lake at the end of the third film. The ending of the fifth had an obvious dream sequence in it, but for all we know, Tommy still could've been dreaming even when it seemed like he woke up. I've seen dream-within-a-dream sequences done in other horror movies, and like you said, Tommy having Roy's Jason mask and a big kitchen knife in the drawer next to his hospital bed makes no sense, so the simplest explanation is that it wasn't real.
For me, this was the weakest film in the franchise thus far, with Part 3 being the next weakest, but I don't hate it. It's just pretty average. I definitely like the next one better, so I'm looking forward to your reaction to that.
I remember reading ages ago how Tommy got the mask. After it fell off Roy, Tommy was the first one down and grabbed it and hid it on himself. He was not carried away in an ambulance but instead taken by police car. He checked into the hospital and changed his own clothes. this is where he hid the mask. Ask for the knife, that was never explained except that it's possible Tommy left left his room and made his way into the hospital's kitchen and came back. But I doubt it. the actress who was playing Pam was asked to come back for part 6 and she said yes. But they only wanted her back only of the actor playing Tommy also came back, which he didn't. they didn't feel like her character would work within part 6. So it's possible they went for the dream within a dream thing.
Part 6 ignores part 5. The only thing they kept was Tommy having been thru mental institutions to deal with his Jason trauma. They ignore any and all traces of him potentially becoming a new killer and they ignore any trace of the Roy killings.
Part 6 actually saves the franchise (for a while)!!! Thom Matthew's and Jennifer Cooke Meow....
6 destroys this one. Also 6 has best Jason ever
