I recently moved to Arkansas from the red rock canyon country of Utah, and I feel like a fish out of water, a stranger in a strange land. I know how to survive in the desert! But all this water, trees, and green? Discovering your channel has reassured me that I'll have the hang of it in no time. Your vlogs are a treasure and a delight 💙
I moved to Alabama from so Utah. Love it here. Kayaking n camping on islands, fresh caught fish for dinner. You will adapt and love it. Iv been here 32 years now. Never leaving other than for visiting fam out west !
LOL it angers me so bad that you guys only got 63,000 subscribers you guys got one of the best channels on UA-cam and don't rely on raunchy thumbnails y'all act normal keep up the great content big fan
Cody and Kellie, so good to see the relaxed, happy look on your faces and in your eyes! I felt for you guys when you were in New York not being able to find a campsite after a long day of travel and having vehicle issues and just wondering what you were doing. Burn-out had set in and your whole beings just weren't your norms. Glad it didn't take long for that feeling of despair to turn into peace, fun and another great adventure! Definitely gotta get some new kayak camping mattresses! Just think how you would feel after a good night's sleep on better airs and waking up where you did in this video! So nice! Can't wait to see your camper! Safe travels till next time🌞✌
I love watching you two. The way you two sleep next to each other in the tent is so nice to see. some couples sleep like feet away from each other. You guys bring a homey feeling to all of your videos. I am so excited to watch to next step in your adventure!
Hey ya'll nice island camping. Kelly Hayes is here in Florida she just experienced her first hurricane. I didn't have any damage but a lot of areas where devastated.
I don’t know if anyone has said this yet, but if you let some of the air out of the sleeping pads, you will sleep better. I’ve learned this through trial and error. It’s just really hard to sleep on them when they’re completely full. Most of the sleep pads are going to have those baffles, but there are a few made differently. It just takes some acclimation because none of them are going to feel like the ones you’re used to sleeping on.
So excited to see your camper! I know you will love it and appreciate the comforts. Just recently bought a 30 foot class c with slide outs.. can live the dream instead of just watching! Tyvm for the inspiration
Warbonnet XLC hammock. Super Fly Tarp. Hammock Gear under quilt and top quilt. Nemo Fillo pillow. It takes some practice to learn how to set it up and adjust everything, but I sleep like a baby and wake up with dried slobber all over my face, lol! Best sleep that I have ever had!!!
My husband and I kayak camp almost every weekend on some big rocks (well he uses a cot also) and we love our pads. They are going on 5 years old now and never had to patch them. They are klymit klymaloft pads. They have memory foam in them, so amazing... and fold down to about the size of your kelty blanket! Love your videos! Hope to find this island someday! Can't wait to see your new camper. Hugs!
I totally love this video. It was relaxing for me just watching it. I surely do miss those days. Love you guys always just love and blessings your friend Debra. Continue on with safe travels. Can’t wait for the next adventures.
I have that exact sleeping pad. 1st thing I will tell you, it has lasted me going into its 4th year of backpacking, so it will last! I hated the sound and feel of the material, so I took a piece of muslin cloth, cut to fit, sewed elastic into the edges. It fits tightly around the air mat, eliminating the sound and sticky feel. But, it weighs nothing! Eventually someone smarter than I will market them! Lol
Good fun!! I've been sleeping in my tent for the last few years 2500+days, I did sleep in a car during the Ian event!! Wouldn't have it any other way! PS freeze dried backpack meals are much better than government MREs!!!
Fuel prices have made me leave the trailer home and forced me back out tent camping. Like you I bought all the newest little things to make quad and truck camping smaller and much more light weight. It was fun this last summer but now that fall is here and it's colder. It's just not as much fun without the camper to make life more comfortable. So I said screw it I guess I got to pay the high fuel price and only get 10 miles a gallon. Once you get into your camper I bet you'll feel the same. Love the video and your channel have a great day.
Thank you for the MRE evals. Anytime weight, volume, or time is an issue, nice to have a tasty MRE option. Here lately, if I leave the yard camping, or get home way too late to think about cooking, MRE time!
Exciting!! Can’t wait to see your truck camper. I think they’re the bomb and the best way to travel. If you make it to Washington next spring/summer you’ve got a driveway to park in next to our TC. So happy for you two!! Cheers!
We were at Lake O last week with you guys for the most amazing camping/fishing trip. Weather was perfect and the scenery is amazing. This was our first trip as we usually camp in upper Mi/Wi and you are right they have a lot of similarities with Arkansas. We look forward to going back to enjoy some more fish fry’s.
we absolutley love our Exped MegaMat 10 Sleeping Pads. expensive but very good quality, big, thick, and I've slept on mine over 30 times now, haven't found anything better quality.
Incredible island camping. When .y daughter was young we would Island tent camp & canoeing so much fun. We would go claiming & steam them on a campfire. Now my daughter is 58 yrs old & our entire family of kids & grandkids & great grand kids over the out of doors .
I hope you guys ordered a side door truck camper. So much better than a rear door especially with a trailer or a kayak rack or motorcycle rack. You’ll enjoy truck camping gets a little cramped at times. Hopefully you keep your trailer though you’ll probably need it. We thought we wouldn’t need the trailer either with our truck camper but we ended up purchasing a new small one. I know everybody’s different. Enjoy be safe love the videos.
Agree you got to have a good mat for tent camping. . . great video! good to see you getting out and relaxing... no worries - Ready for that camper!!!!!!! We are tent campers as well, but admit we just bought a little tear drop and love it ! ! ! So get this new chapter started and we will be here along for the ride!!!
HI CODY & KELLIE 👋 THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN FROM HERE . LOOKED SO RELAXING ! I JUST ORDERED MY PACKET GOURMET TO TRY . I'VE HEARD THEY'RE REALLY GOOD & TASTY , I THINK NO PRESERVATIVE TOO ! I USUALLY TRY THEM BEFORE TAKING THEM CAMPING PLUS MY GRANDSON LIKES MAKING THEM JUST TO WATCH THEM GO FROM FREEZE DRY TO NORMAL & DO EVERYTHING HIMSELF . WISH YOU BOTH A SAFE TRIP 🙏 GETTING YOUR SLIDE CAMPER 😉 BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! ENJOYED 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 THANK YOU 🙏 GOD BLESS YOU BOTH ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES 🙏
Great video, the sunrise scene was really enchanting. I use the Thermarest NeoAire XTherm max sleeping pad with my Zenbivy sleeping bag and it’s super comfy!
Hey guys, I use a NEMO tensor insulated sleeping pad, I went with the wide version because I am a side sleeper, and tend to roll. Went backpacking for the first time this summer and used this on a 24.5 mile 4 day, 3 night adventure. This thing held air the entire time, kept me plenty warm from the ground in the low 40's out here in the High altitude Colorado backcountry. it has baffles that go in small squares, horizontal and vertically, so that issue that you are having with those BIG Agnes pads wouldn't be as much of an issue, and the material on them isn't as 'plasticy' for lack of a better word. As far as a backpacking pad, I loved this one the most and I tried several versions before settling on the NEMO Tensor. if you are just doing summer backpacking in lower altitude, you may not need the insulated version, but even in the middle of summer out here, in high altitude, there were still glaciers and snowpack where I was. I've been watching you guys and Gatewood brown for over a year now. Good luck, hope this may help. For kayak camping I actually just pack my Sierra Designs queen air bed, because it folds up really small for an air bed, and I just bring a manual pump with me, worth the effort for the comfort.
This was a good kayak camping trip you two had. Me & my family ( wife , 6 boys , Granddaughter , daughter in law , & soon my Grandson we all love kayak camping. Especially my 6 boys I can't keep them off the water in the warm weather. It is so much fun cuz we do trip 20 to 40 miles. It is a lil hard trying to haul 11 kayak but I get it done. Kelly I like your bedrock sandals you are wearing. I have a pair of myself & it makes it so much easier for me to put them on since I have extremely wide feet 🦶 & no straps in the front of the sandal like flip flops 🩴 do. I love my flip flops 🩴 but it's not so easy for me to put flip flops 🩴on when my toes are wider than the flip flops 🩴 straps. Cody needs to get a pair of bedrock sandals too. Good video thanks you for sharing it.
Nemo Tensor Insulated Xtra Wide sleeping pad, folds down very small and has internal baffles. or something to make it very supportive, is roomy so your arms don't hang over the sides
I so want to go camp on an island. Looks so awesome and peaceful. Getting too cool where I’m at tho right now. Gives me time for planning 💕. I’ll have to keep an eye out for what y’all find to sleep on that’s more comfortable tho. Good Sleep is important.
Great video! You're right on both counts about Packit Gourmet, kinda pricey but so worth it! Great food. My wife and I love our Big Agnes Rapide SL sleeping mats, highly recommend them
I recently bought the Invoker 3inch memory foam self inflating sleeping pad. And it is so lovely to sleep on! Rolls up pretty quick and takes up little space.
Love backpacking! Whenever you're in Colorado (summer obviously) great backpacking trips here. Rocky Mountain National Park, the Colorado Trail...so much to see and experience. Would be happy to meet up and take you two.
I camped out on an island (getting the idea from you all). The bugs were horrendous I would set around the campfire to keep the bugs away. Then I went to another spot which was not an island Though I was by myself, and the armadillos would wonder around at night which would creep me out. Also, I found out that the eastern screech owl sounded like the whinny of a horse (I kept thinking there were horses nearby. When I got home, I looked it up and it was the owl.
Sleeping pad recommendation....I have heard the brand Sea to Summit makes a sleeping pad that is durable, light, and comfy. There are other UA-camrs that swear by them. I don't have one for when we car camp but do have a "knock off" brand that does a pretty darn good job. Hope this helps! -Hedy
Gotta try “Next Mile” backpacking meals! Beef tacos r the bomb! Highly suggest Hyperlite Mountain Gear for a backpack. I’ve carried all major brands and many cottage company packs. Took the HMG on Thru-hike of CT this summer and it was awesome!
Anyone visiting Arkansas for the first time. Top of your list has to be Hot Springs NP thel the highway west which goes along lake Oachita. Lots of great public campgrounds. Lots of hiking. Lots of quartz crystals and crystal clear creeks. A great central point to start exploring the state. The lake is huge with a lot of places reachable only by water.good bass and catfish camping in the lake and red fleshed rinbow trout below the dam - especially when they let the water out full blast in the spring. Talk about "getting away from it all". Makes me want to get a kayak. For backpacking most people seem to like the hard foam. Only 1" thick, but takes the edge off little rocks and irregularities in the ground. I like the ones that fold like Z style - easy to strap onto the outside of a pack. Careful, vehicles are being broken into at trailheads. Leave your ultra valuables at home and maybe consider an de alarm and security cameras for your rig.
I spent 5 days in Mena, Arkansas this summer. It is hotter than hell down there. Wanted to go over to the lake you are on but too hot. It is supposed to be one one the cleanest lakes in Ark. And you can camp anywhere you want for free. Ideally, I would bring a RIB down there and cruise around for a few weeks camping. Not to many people know about this Lake. Have fun and stay cool.
I genuinely hope the camper works out but the sleeping arrangement is very different from what you're used to. I hope you two like being close! Good luck! Love following you.
As far as sleeping pads that are super compact, we like both of these pretty much the same. Heading to petit Jean next weekend. Klymit Static V2 Ultralight Sleeping Pad TREKOLOGY Inflatable Camping Mat for Sleeping, Sleeping Pad - UL50 3rd is- FreeLand Camping Sleeping Pad Self Inflating with Attached Pillow. Don’t like the pillow built in… happy trails
I really love my Nemo Tensor tensor sleeping pad. I also recommend the Flextailgear mini pump. The inflation bag is nice but I really like having the rechargeable mini pump. Can’t wait to see your new adventures in your truck camper!
I have a sea to summit comfort plus self inflating pad that I use backpacking and kayak camping. I’ll leave it long when I backpack and just put it at the bottom of my pack on the outside but I can fold it in half lengthwise and then roll it up when I kayak camp. It’s a little on the bulky side, especially compared to the big Agnes (which I also have) but it’s way more comfortable!
You don't want the air mattress filled completely full. I find if I kneel on it and my knees just touch the ground that is a good amount of air. But also I don't like that Big Agnes pad with the long air tubes either.
I'm bringing some friends there to island camp next month. Which ramp/parking area do you recommend for convenient canoe access to a number of islands? Brady Mountain? Thank you for your inspiring videos and specific advice today.
Love our Sierra Designs 2 person air bed. Not sure if it’s compact enough for backpacking but rolls pretty small & is very comfy! Comes with a D battery pump, so you’d def need an alternate pump when weight matters.
We are about to make a trip from Louisiana to Missouri. Will be staying in our tent. Can you tell us which campgrounds in Arkansas are best for tent camping that have showers? We will be passing through Little Rock.
Awesome camping trip! Next week one of my friends and I, are going to Lake Ouachita. Be my first time going to this lake. Going kayak camping and fishing! Were is the best place to drop off kayak from the boat ramps, or somewhere to go to Islands kayaking? Going 4 days. Planning on to camp three nights and three different Islands for each night
Ouachita has been low for the last few years and that is my special place cuz I spent every summer of my teenage life there tent camping with Braniff friends and water skiing 🎿

Hey ya'll nice island camping. Kelly Hayes is here in Florida she just experienced her first hurricane. I didn't have any damage but a lot of areas where devastated.

I love the MSR they sell a French press for it also.
Even though you are a bit unorganized and we understand
To see you back and how you are ❤is special
You could always use your sleeping pads as water rafts. Thought about using a water raft for a sleeping pad, cheaper. ; - )
So excited about seeing the new camper. Next episode?!? Til then, be well.

I’m so excited for you and your new camper. Look forward to the walkthrough.

One of favorite air sleeping pads is the Nemo Tensor (alpine/insulated version for cold weather). I have the long-wide version. So comfortable!

We missed the premiere but good to see you guys back out in the kayaks and camping, xoxo
You guys are awesome. Can’t wait for you to come back to my home state of Colorado and see you do some backpacking.
Changing to a camper will be a huge change for sure. I am looking forward to seeing what you guys get into next
Nemo Tensor Insulated Xtra Wide sleeping pad, folds down very small and has internal baffles. or something to make it very supportive, is roomy so your arms don't hang over the sides
Lol that was the faaaaastes loading up the truck and wow great editing on it as well.

Beautiful!
Hold up to your chili mac....naaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh...I don't think so! Love the new tent. Didn't catch a link for it in the links!
😂
Will work on link in the future.
Ahhhh yes text me with whatever questions! We gotta go on a backpacking trip together!
Reminds me of the thousand islands in Northern NY
Ps… noticed your lights. I love these. Super light weight. Ariceleo USB LED Fairy String Light
We found sleeping pads with a built in foot pump. They work great and only take a minute or two.
Beautiful area the water looks do clear. I heard it's very cold and deep.
Great spot

Any news on if you are going to restock your cook book? I missed getting in because I was on vacation :( please let us know..thanks

Good fishing over here in north Alabama. Roll Tide. Good video as always.
You can do Brady mountain or Ouachita state park
Was there a couple weeks ago snorkeling. Beautiful lake.
Roanoke, Va here
Awesome camping trip! Next week one of my friends and I, are going to Lake Ouachita. Be my first time going to this lake. Going kayak camping and fishing! Were is the best place to drop off kayak from the boat ramps, or somewhere to go to Islands kayaking? Going 4 days. Planning on to camp three nights and three different Islands for each night
that looks like a killer spot!
Wonderful
Ouachita has been low for the last few years and that is my special place cuz I spent every summer of my teenage life there tent camping with Braniff friends and water skiing 🎿
Flextail tiny pump ;)
