Freshly Hatched Loon Chick Hitches Free Rides!

Riding mom's back...and getting knocked off; it's all a part of being an adorable four-days-old baby loon. This family of common loons (Gavia immer) lives in the Northwoods of Wisconsin until they will migrate south for the winter. This baby loon will primarily eat fish from its parents until it learns how to fish on its own. Bluegill, perch and pumpkinseed are the top items on the menu for the time being.

I just found your channel, I'm your newest subscriber! I was looking for a better definition between dragonflies and damselflies, afterward I watched this one. I live close to the Mississippi river in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Common Loon is our state bird, they're always special to see or hear.
