    I love your videos by the way! I am learning Russian through independent study, so your lessons are extremely helpful. They are very clear and structured in a way that is easy to follow and understand. Thanks for the help!

    In French we can ask in the negative form as well, it feels more natural and casual. Like "T'as pas un stylo à me prêter/passer?"(=Don't you have a pen for me to borrow?),, so this part was pretty logical to me... hopefully because I still have to get use to the genitive case, and it's pretty hard.

    Antonia, thank you very much for your lessons, they help me a lot. Some people here say that you should slow down when you speak in russian, but i think it's better the way you do it, cause people on the streets don't have the time to say things slowly and we should get used to that.

    this was an amazing lesson . I like how the exercises pointed out the flaws in my logic in the exercises. I hope all of my class mates tell you everyday what an amazing teacher you are. This will help make me ready for the TORFL. What I am struggling with is У неё так много платьев.. I probably don't understand this as deeply as I should but I can memorize it. I will need to think alot over your statement of negating the quantity and not the verb. I know to be disappears from sentences like Я студент

    • @aaronhurlock8915
      @aaronhurlock8915 5 років тому +1

      it disappears from this sentence and the quantity of dresses gets negated and not to be which doesn't appear in alot of sentences anyway. I am getting that right. You have shown again that you put alot of though and hard work into putting these lessons together. I can express enough how grateful I am. I am sure my classmates are greatful as well.

      Thank you so very much for your kind words and everything! The verb to be is very tricky in Russian, yes, but in time you will get it and it'll get natural, just never give up! XOXO

    I looked at your genitive declination chart from your other video and I don't understand how собока turns into собоки in genitive, and how ручка turns into ручки. The chart says endings with "а" like мама become мамы in genitive.

  • @andydidyouhear

    As we say: „У неё нет/не было/не будет свободНОГО времЕНИ”, I suppose that the word время must change in the positive sentences to „У неё есть/было/будет свободНОЕ времЯ”. Am I right? Many thanks:)

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  8 років тому +1

      +andydidyouhear that's right! In positive we use Nominative case for what we have ;)

    How do you change words into genitive case?

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  9 років тому

      alcgda Well, that's a good question you do it according to the declination of the noun ;)
      I already have a couple of classes devoted to it,
      #42 Russian Grammar - 1st declension, nouns, cases, numbers
      #56 Russian Grammar - 2nd declension, nouns, cases, numbers
      if it is a personal pronoun you should change - take a look at these videos, devoted to them
      #28 Russian / English personal pronouns: я - I, ты - you, он - he, она - she, оно - it, мы - we...
      #33 Russian personal pronouns 2: я, ты, он, она, оно, мы, вы, они, I, you, he, she, it, we, you..

  • @WaldirNeto
    @WaldirNeto 8 років тому

    Why did you change the gender of some words (in the sequences you showed in the end of the video)?

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  8 років тому

      +Balaio do Devir I don't get it, and I have no time to search for it, can you give me the exact time code?

    • @WaldirNeto
      @WaldirNeto 8 років тому

      Here for example (you can answer later, no problem, I'm in the work too) у нас будет ребенок became у нас не будет ребенока

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  8 років тому

      у нас не будет ребенка - this is negation and in such tenses, when we use negation the word should be used in Genitive case

    • @WaldirNeto
      @WaldirNeto 8 років тому

      Thank you very much. I still do some confusion with the cases, especially the genitive, and prepositional

    This interrogative form у тебя нет (руки)? maybe does not make sense for english speakers, but make very sense to portuguese speakers! (Another similaritie!) We also have this same interrogative form, you can ask Você não tem uma caneta? ou Você não teria uma caneta?( у тебя нет (руки)?). I guess in english we cannot ask something as (Do you don't have a pen?) But in portuguese is very commom! :-)

      William J. U.
      "у него", "у неё" - here we focus on the person - he has, she has...
      "у его", "у её" - here we use possessive pronouns, his father has, her friends have...
      #37 Russian possessive pronouns - мой, твой, его, ее, наш, ваш, их - my, your..
