I am trying to listen to every video I can find with Klaus Mäkelä! He is humble, grounded, smart, and perhaps above all has the ability to extract the essence of a work, translate his intent to the orchestra, and then to the audience - superb. I myself played 'cello for many years in a community orchestra, and we had a conductor who was similar. It is amazing what je ne sais quoi (it is far more than "sound" and cannot be quantified) a conductor like Klaus Mäkelä can "get" in an orchestra. Thank you Oslo Philharmonic and Mr. Mäkelä from the bottom of my heart.
I've been watching his footage for the past week. My dream is to actually listen to the performance someday. I am supporting from Japan in a small way.
Klaus Mäkelä seems to become one of the most promising conductors of our time. His passion for music and art is captivating and his insights speaks of a wisdom beyond his years. I hope I will get to see him one day.
He's on point. He may be young, but he has gained wisdom and continue to do so. ❤️💕 He is right that it is the conductor's duty to understand the journey of the composer and recreate the experience of the piece, and it is important to listen to musicians/colleagues too
I really love watching ppl who are deeply in love with their job. And Klaus is like head-over-toe in love with not only conducting but the music itself! Inspiring and fascinating!
I believe we all knew that this man would achieve great things as a conductor. Two years after this video was produced we know that in addition to leading the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestre de Paris, he will soon be leading one of the great orchestras of the world, the Concergebouw in Amsterdam. I watch every performance he conducts that is available on UA-cam and am never disappointed. And yes, his interviews are always filled with charm and intelligence. Going back to his training with Jorma Panula is possible as well... seeing him as a teen preparing for his amazing career. What am world in which we live, with such wonderful music available to us. This orchestra especially, has given us beautiful music during the pandemic. Makes me proud to be a Norwegian... though I've never gotten closer to Norway than a winter visit to Copehagen... decades ago.
This guy is so so inspiring and he speaks to why I love music so much. I really resonate with his personality and the way he goes about music making, truly such a cool thing to see! I also can't deny that he is quite handsome! 😂
Klaus Makela is the best conductor ever! I hope he stays with the Oslo Philharmonic for a long time; it's my favorite orchestra, and he's my favorite conductor. I'd love to be as knowledgable in the classical field as he is! I love the way he conducts, he is amazing at capturing the true beauty and mood of classical music. Keep up the astounding work!!! 🥰 Maybe someday I'll be able to see him conducting in person! 🙏❤🙏
I just heard Makela tonight in San Francisco conduct Shostakovich 10. Immensely exciting. He whips up a big, bold sound, but also has very sensitive phrasing. He's so young -- the sky's the limit. Reminds of Karajan's early start when he was known as "Das Wunder."
I discovered this orchestra back in our first lock down here in Italy last year and have been just blown away by their energy and drive for creating music. Absolutely superb stuff!!
Have just discovered this conductor, and I’m in total admiration and awe. Plus I love all the repertoire I seeing him conduct; when the Schumann symphony started at the start of the video I was in heaven!
I got to listen to Klaus Mäkelä and Paris Philharmonic on November 30th 2022 in Paris. It was incredible, its like you can just grab the brass out of the air in Mahler. Amazing
from the south of the world ... it is an inspiration to see this great conductor. I hope they upload more videos with Klaus Makela and the fantastic Oslo Orchestra
Your economy of hand and body movements while you conduct reminds somewhat of Fritz Reiner who was famous for an often invisible beat. Except you don't terrorise the orchestra the way he did. You love your musicians as they love you. Reiner knew the score and so do you. The result is great music making. I'm looking forward to hearing you conduct more music. Thank you.
"If you would not listen to your musicians, to your fellow colleagues, you'd be stupid because there's quite a big chance that someone else has figured out something that you have not.". This is why he is one of the most famous and successful conductors today, even at such a young age.
Well, he says the right things, let's see if he can do them. There is a strange editing moment in the video when KM talks of Mahler 9 and the music you see and hear is Mahler 1.
tune in in 3 years, he is already thinking about the piece, studying it and when he is super mature and wise ( like in 3 years) he will do as good of a job as he did with Mahler 1
Stocopski + Kleiber + Makela's own = Idea sound? Now, it depend on how OP and MK will work out to produce the new sounds. I believe they will do higher and higher to save classical music.
looks like he practices to recordings made by other conductors. he's imitating what someone else has done. most conductors are the ego at the front who mistakenly think they're special.
I love this guy, his energy, his enthusiasm his everything

Klaus Mäkelä is a genius! He is so inspiring. I'm sure he has a great future ahead!
He has a wonderful relationship with the musicians.

Thanks a lot for your support!
one of the best conductors of the new music world

The world and music needs more people like Klaus Makela a young soul, a young talent with such a special sensitivity for music and art.
Agreed.
So inspirational. Klaus gives me hope for the future of conducting. He continues to inspire and motivate young conductors! The future is young.
He is fantastic. Just fantastic.
This guy is so so inspiring and he speaks to why I love music so much. I really resonate with his personality and the way he goes about music making, truly such a cool thing to see!

What a real great pleasure to see you, my dear Klaus, listen to your voice, and know as much as possible about you, you are adorable!!!
I adore his approach and personality!

Such an amazing young conductor, I am truly amazed how sensitive yet grounded he is 🤍
A great description of the conducting process of creating spontaneous magic through music.

Such an inspiring guy, so happy to have him come to Amsterdam in a few years :D
I am very happy that he will be in Paris, where I live … such a good conductor and a nice person too !
from the south of the world ... it is an inspiration to see this great conductor. I hope they upload more videos with Klaus Makela and the fantastic Oslo Orchestra
Nice to see an up and coming young conductor!!!
right? I mean, finally! tall, blond, young, handsome male conductors are finally catching a break!
Your economy of hand and body movements while you conduct reminds somewhat of Fritz Reiner who was famous for an often invisible beat. Except you don't terrorise the orchestra the way he did. Love him so much !
Klaus Mäkelä es un gran director, con mucho potencial. Me gusta mucho su manera de dirigir y que con su corta edad ya ha conseguido grandes cosas. 🤍💙🤍
指挥超级帅,So much handsome!
Klaus Mäkelä is magic. A brilliant and passionate conductor. So glad the Oslo Philharmonic is sharing these capsules. Thank you!
Cool conductor, impressive. When he talks about Mahler’s 9th for some reason they play an excerpt from the 1st Symphony.
Talentueux et charmant Klaus !
Hes just beautiful 😍
love from spb...doing smth great.wonder
Bravo Klaus - thank you for explaining so vividly. Now I understand much, much more!

Amazing!
Please, do not stop.
Gracias maestro!!
What a progressive approach.
He’s beautiful
I can see him becoming the next Karajan... In a good way that is.
Klaus Mäkelä 👌👏👏👏 He seems to get under the skin of musical pieces.
Klaus is a fuckyng genius!
AMAZING 4 symphony the Brahms Klaus powerful!!!!!!!

They didn’t have a footage of Mahler 9 with him. The Mahler 1 with ofo meanwhile is on youtube.
tune in in 3 years, he is already thinking about the piece, studying it and when he is super mature and wise ( like in 3 years) he will do as good of a job as he did with Mahler 1

que incrivel
Wise man words 👏
He's gorgeous.
Does anybody know what piece is played in 2:30 ?
Mahler Symphony 1, 3rd Mvt I think
I miss his glasses🤓
Talentoso y admirable ❤
1:15 which piece of music are they playing here?
Schumann symphony No2 4th movement
He reminds me of a young Mahler, except that he seems to be a nice fellow. Mahler was a mean SOB.
i would also agree, except i personally never met Mahler in person, and can't be exactly as sure as you when I wonder if they are alike.
💚💚💚💚💚
Kult å høre hvordan det foregår av en proff
This guy conducts Beethoven better than anyone else.
he is happening
cool
We are coming back 🌈❤️🌳
I liked him better in hid Shostakovich glsses
looks like he practices to recordings made by other conductors. he's imitating what someone else has done. most conductors are the ego at the front who mistakenly think they're special.
Poster boy scam
"Musicians always follow the conductor."
Actually yes but no. 🤣
