The incredible amount of work, rehearsal and teamwork that goes into chamber music is one of the reasons it's so beautiful and complex. Thanks.

Muda, atraktif dan pembaca yang piawai. Saya bisa merasakan setiap gesturnya bercerita. Saya harap Klaus Mäkelä bisa memberi warna dan pengalaman baru untuk Oslo Philharmonic. Salam.

I think the model of the conductor as dictator will continue to wither in favor of the concept of the conductor as a sort of "Head Coach." There does seem to be an attraction many audience members have for the notion of the conductor as the ultimate authority and defining personality, but I think a leader can still look like a leader within a context that's defined, in manner and function, as more cooperative than authoritarian.
No matter how specifically you tell an orchestra how you think a piece should be played, the fact remains that the players will be doing the playing. And since they aren't robots (thankfully), what they produce won't exactly replicate your conception. That element of real-time creative freedom has to be respected. It can always be restrained or guided differently if you think what's being produced doesn't serve the music well.
An orchestra that feels a sense of musical ownership is a powerful thing.
