as having a advance diploma in game development (3D) i would advice that maya would be a better program to animate in ive been doing 3ds max for over 3 years and i find that for beginners maya will be the best
@lucasrsbr well at least you gave a slightly useful comment (the second one). Well i wasn't really sure how to start with animating, but i think its pretty decent for my first try
@lucasrsbr Yes it is my first try, i started animating yesterday, finished today (maybe 1-2 hours of work on this clip xD) And thanks for the compliments :D I made this animation with 3ds max, the model is from HL2 (obviously :P) yes this can be made into a animation sequence that can be played in hl2 / gmod

@theironpaw i dont have maya nor do i have the money to buy it. I have 3ds max, thats what ill work with :)
