    Great pack and the AG suspension system is awesome....but Osprey really dropped the ball by not including sleeping pad straps on the Atmos AG 50 like it does on most of their packs including the Atmos AG 65. In fact, I'd argue that the Atmos AG 50 needs sleeping pad straps more than the 65L version. But otherwise, great pack.

      I'm going to have them sewn on. Easy peasy but I agree with you. It's a simple but needed feature.

      GREENMEENIE completely agree with you on that one. It’s the 50 ltr that needs the lower pad/gear straps more than the larger models. I was going to go for the Kestral 48 for the reason that it includes sleep pad straps. In the end went for the almost 50 cos the hike gear store dude said I can strap my Zlite SOL to the side.. but now I’m thinking I may just change out to a more packable 3/4 inflating sleep pad..

    The beard serves as added insulation, backpack towel, thread for emergency sutures, a disguise and a a hip statement. Highly versatile.

    Got the pack. It's a amazingly confortable, no doubt about it, BUT, i can't recline my head backwards because of the frame. it's allucinating, as i need to stretch the head from time to time, this makes me feel constricted. Regardless, it's a great quality pack.

    How to you measure to determine correct rear strap height and front belt adjustment? Please provide examples for how to fit things for each feature; e.g. water bladder installation. Is this conducive to Platypus Big Zip 2L?

    Great review. Can you tell me more about the water system. Has it a sepetate compartment for the bladder? I find that a full bladder takes up a lot of room but I like the hose system as the water is litetally on tap. A bottle with a hose would be ideal. Is there such a thing?

      +hieronimus hendrawan Thanks for your question. The Atmos 65 has two front zippered pockets that the 50 will not have. The 65 also has removable sleeping pad straps on the lower portion of the bag, the 50 does not.
      Those are the only things I believe are different on the packs. The suspension, main pack bag and hood all share features. Either way, this is an awesome pack from Osprey Packs. -Luke at Backcountry Edge

    Hi, the 50 seems to be dived into LG, M, SM, do these differences are really noticeable. what is your general suggestion in selecting one ?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  8 років тому +2

      The sizing varies based on the user's torso measurement. It will make a drastic difference in how the pack fits. In order to find out what size pack to choose, you first need to find out your torso length. From there, select the pack that best fits within your measurement.

    How does it compare to the original Atmos/Aura? Definite upgrade? I loved the Atmos when I tried it on and finally go my hands on one last summer from REI, but I would have to have bought the pack just a few months too early. Had I known a newer better version was coming out I would have waited. Worth going to REI and trying one on and possibly exchanging my current one?

    Is this too much for a overnight hike/weekend hike? If so, what would you suggest size for Osprey or similar brand? Thank you and keep up the amazing reviews!

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  9 років тому

      +Bader Kanawati Thank you for the question. The type and size of your gear will determine weather or not a backpack is the right capacity for any given trip. The 50 liter capacity does not seem like it would be too big for an overnight trip or weekend of backpacking, especially if you're carrying a tent and sleeping bag along with all other gear.

    This looks like a great pack and I love you guys' videos. When I got fitted for one a while back, I was told my torso size would put me right between a small and a median. Which one would you recommend? I was thinking it would be better to go small and stay a little more "snug" :)

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 років тому

      Thanks for your question. If you are in between sizes, you may want to consider the hipbelt length. The Medium has a range of 27-48 inches and the Large hipbelt is a little longer, 29-55 inches. If your waist size is 34" or larger, we might recommend size large. What is your torso size? We could make a better recommendation if we know the specific measurement in inches. Feel free to reach out via email to our Gear Specialists to talk more in depth about the sizing (GearSpecialist@backcountryedge.com) Best of luck!

    Are the long straps annoying when wearing the pack? It seems like they are longer then they need to be and hang down pretty low? Thanks.

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  9 років тому

      Chad Barber I haven't found them to be annoying while wearing the pack. You can figure out some ways to tuck them aside so that they're not hanging low as well. They just offer that extension if you're wearing some extra layers or if you're on the larger side of the size range. Thanks for watching! - Luke

    I've never purchased a pack that has the option of different sizes. I'm 5'10 and about 165lbs, what size pack do you recommend I get?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  9 років тому +1

      +Avi Hal Thanks for the question. Pack size usually isn't based on height and weight but is based on Torso length (mainly) and waist size. You'll need to have a friend or family member measure your torso in order to figure out which range you fall into. Also, a waist measurement usually helps to indicate whether a certain pack's hip belt will work for you or not. The torso ranges for the Atmos 50 AG are: Small: 16"-19" Medium: 18"-21" Large: 20"-23"

    You can improve this review by showing positives and negatives carrying hiking poles, snowshoes, long or larger water bottles, microspikes, sleep pad, winter butt pad. Show how easy or difficult to adjust for different heights. I am upgrading from my REI Traverse 48 to this pack for lumbar support. Fewer pockets than my old pack but hoping this new pack will be kinder to my lower back.

      That is part of Osprey's Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachment. You can stick the tips of the poles through the loops, then secure the handles to the bungees on the harness, running the poles under your arms. That way you can stow, and then retrieve them without ever taking off your pack!

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  9 років тому

      rashni As long as you pack smart and take care of the pack, it should hold up well for a European tour. Keep in mind that it will need to be checked if you're traveling via airplane, and those bags usually get handled in a rough manner. So keep things packaged nicely inside and try to make sure loose straps are tucked away or wrapped up tightly.
