- From March 16, 2024: I drove over to a mill pond on Maryland's Eastern Shore to see if I could catch a few fish. Man am I glad that I did. Using a small, Charlie Brewer swim bait, I caught over 2 dozen fish; 24 of them on the same individual bait.
Tackle used: 4'6" ultralight Micro Series rod by Shakespeare with small "profishency" spinning reel with 6# test monofilament line tied to a 1/32 oz jig with a Charlie Brewer 1 & 1/2 swimsuit under a float
Time line:
00:00 - Intro
02:20 - First fish
05:00 - Looking for something different
09:00 - Biggest fish of the day
11:50 - Summing it all up

New subscriber here from North Carolina, great video. I always have my ultralight with a float and jig tied on whenever I go out. Always fun fishing that way, it never gets old watching that float go under!!! Multi-species, ultralight fishing is the best!!! And yes, those Charlie Brewer slider grubs do hold up well and they do catch fish.
Right on! Ultralight is the best! Thanks for joining my journey!
Panfish are so much fun on a little ultralight set up. We throw everything back too, except for what we eat that day & some days we just throw them all back.
Yeah I’m about 90% catch and release. I’ll keep put and take trout and a catfish here and there. But I enjoy catching so much and I always hope that releasing fish means more fish to catch another day.
I kayak fished that lake once. I caught some bluegills but was trying for bass with no success. That first little bass looked lie a lure. I figure there has got to be some decent bass in that lake somewhere.
Give it a couple of weeks and I bet the largemouth will really be biting.
