    Hello from Greece, I am a new amateur and newly licensed, but i professionally use radios for almost 20 years. Keep up the good work. I really like the way you review the radios. Best regards,Georgios.

    I have several of these that I purchased about 4 years ago. Should I be shopping for a new DMR radio? I am still challenged whether to spend time on DMR, DStar or Fusion. I have some nice hot spots. I really enjoy the digital options or at least the tech behind it.

    Hello my name is Kenneth Marple KO6ACT - new technician - to the world. LOL. Not new to ham radio studied ham radio and electronics in junior high school back in the early 80s took electronics classes at the local city College. But never took the exam until recently.
    The question I have is I just purchased Ailunce HD1 and I'm wondering if you have dissected the radio to find out what type of circuitry is inside the radio. Is it equivalent to say a Kenwood or Motorola look to hear back from you soon thank you for your time and patience

    If you want to go the Main Set - Radio ID, you don't need to press the down key, you can go into the Main Set, then press the number 21, and enter into the Radio ID menu directly.

    Picked up one of the Ailuance mainly from your video. Very pleased. My wife Karen received her call the other day and we were attempting to change the radio id now that she has her DMR id number. I thought there was a feature to change radio id on the fly but I was unable to do that. Was I over looking something?

    @Ham Radio 2.0 - How would you put the Ailuance HD-1 against the Anytone AT-D868UV? I think Anytone has it however the Ailuance has the IP rating for dust and water resistance. Thoughts?

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  6 років тому +1

      Basically what you just said. I like the Anytone better due to its display and smaller size, but the IP67 rating of the HD-1 is good if someone needs a more durable radio. Also the VFO on the HD-1 seems easier to use.

    VERY interesting!! Does it have a 16 "notch" channel knob like most motorola's or does it just turn and turn?? also does it have a talk permit tone?
    Thanks!! - KM6ENB Chula Vista, CA

    • @HamRadio2

      It is a variable knob, so it just turns.

    It's a great radio overall, but there's one issue that I've found that annoys me to no end: The loud popping sound the radio makes whenever it receives anything. It's usually not noticeable, but when you're wearing a headset, it becomes clear as day. I wonder if there's a way to fix that...

  • @TheJimiking

    Can't decide between HD1, AnyTone 868UV or wait for AT mobile. All seems to be very similar. Thanks for great video. 👍🤘🖖

    Thanks for the review video. I think I’d prefer the HD1 over the MD2017/RT82 for VFO mode alone but the MD2017 record feature is nice to have also.

    So are the 32 ID's just a larger list of what you can call your radio? For example on my TYT MD-2017 I can program it in simplex I call my radio GRMS DMR and the ID# is 1234567 when another DMR radio calls me, they call GRMS DMR 1234567, (with appropriate TG, TS, and CC etc)

    Hi Jason, thanks for the review here. Are the models you have up on Grapevine the GPS models? I would really like to pick up two of these. Also, I wanted to add a comment about the dual slot direct. It caused me MAJOR HEADACHES with my Kenwood and Vertex radios assuming this is the same thing (comms.kenwood.com/en/features/operations.html#anc_05). When I got my NX-5300 radios and was trying to get them to do Simplex comms. with a ton of the older VXD-720 radios I had...it NEVER WORKED...I wasted weeks...until I found buried in KPG-D1N software in the channel edit, a checkbox for "Dual Slot Direct Mode" I don't know how it works...but if you look at the link I included above from Kenwood, it sure does say you can use both time slots simultaneously WITHOUT a repeater...so, that could be awesome. Maybe this is going to start to come out on all new DMR radios. I am happy to do some testing and contribute more if you like or if you plan on discussing it in the future I am definitely interested in knowing more.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  6 років тому

      It is something about using both timeslots, or just 1 timeslot, on simplex. Yes those Anytones I have are the GPS models, but I think they are all sold-out now.

      64 channels (or talk-groups if you prefer) per zone. There is also an option to have 'all channels' which allows to continuously scan through all channels.

    Sorry Jason but front panel programming looks like a pain in the A@#. I’d rather use the software. What is promiscuous mode? Nice video though.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  6 років тому

      It can be a pain, but that is what most people want. Unless you are talking about an analog radio, then everyone wants to use the computer the program the radio. But get into DMR, then suddenly the computer isn't enough, people want to FPP. Go figure. But at least you can do either way on this radio.
      Promiscuous mode means that the radio will listen to all activity on the timeslot, regardless of which TG has the traffic.

      it support two conversations on the same channel in simplex mode.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  7 років тому +1

      As I understand it now, it is 6.25KHz simplex instead of 12.5KHz simplex.

    • @on4akhbe
      @on4akhbe 7 років тому

      It sound more like full duplex. They talk about simplex because it is not via a repeater. But in this mode the 2 timeslots are used for a telephone style communication. Not that I have tested this. Just what I understand from their website.

    • @humaxf1
      @humaxf1 6 років тому

      Not full duplex. It allows 2 user groups on the same frequency, transmitting at the same time - each group using slot 1 and 2
