Students like Katie are the reason why I became a teacher. Good teachers lift up their students and go the extra mile to help students be successful. There are so many teachers who just turn up and have become cynical etc. Katie is super talented and she needs to know that she is worthy. Xx
Even if you ask your teacher she won’t be able to do much, it’s a pretty bad situation for you and the only thing you can do is wait. If you don’t like your father that much then try your best to stay away from him I guess.
Students like Katie are the reason so many teachers quit teaching or think of quitting most weeks. Students who aren't like Katie are the reason they continue. Most teachers just want to show up, deliver their lessons and help a bunch of kids understand some difficult concepts and perform to their best. They're not interested in, did not sign up for and are not tooled up to deal with Katies. And the Katie you see here is largely a UK (if not greater European) problem. You never get kids behaving like that in Japan for example where there seems to be more ingrained respect for everyone else around you. It's a symptom of a broken system which nobody seems to even want to fix.
@@jenna_padro Sorry but your problems are not your teacher's problems. You need to engage with your Head of Year or the school counsellor. It's not that your teacher doesn't care its just that he literally doesn't have the time in his day for someone who needs the level of support you do. You're looking in the wrong place but you should find help from different people.
Her music teacher is who she really needs! He knows exactly what she needs to help her and I think the only time I saw her genuinely smiling was in his class.
This school has an amazing drama department but the science department seems awful because every class from every year group seems to mess about in science lessons.
the bit where shes says like her music teacher complimenting her makes her feal good just shows how much she must need someone o be be nice o her its so sad
I feel sorry, that’s a scared little girl. She has split parents, and being rebellious and getting attention from other peers like ‘wow did you see what Katy did in IT, it was so funny’ and ‘wow Katy is so cool, I heard she yelled at me ritter’ which makes her feel good about herself and takes her mind off of home life
NNGaming it’s not the point. Just because she may have problems going on, is not an excuse to justify her behaviour. She was rude and mouthy- therefore she needs correcting.
My parents are spilt after years of abuse from my dad he is finally gone (still comes back though) but I did act out touring those times feel sorry for her
I'm sorry, but you can tell she's hurting. Shes trying so hard to be better. But the teachers trying to pressure her are clearly making her snap and its not fair :(
How was she trying to be better when she was clearly disrupting the class? Teachers only tell you off when you are doing something wrong, and she WAS. They aren’t having a go at her on purpose. They are just correcting her behaviour because it’s not fair on the rest of the class. The teachers are not telling her off for no reason. It was HER fault. That is why they are onto her. If she behaves, they would not need to say anything.
Molly S a lot of children tend to act out to try to gain attention that they don’t get at home. I’ve worked with troubled kids before and sometimes you have to notice that they are acting out for a reason. The best thing to do is help them find something they like, and let them work on that each day. It really does make a difference in their behavior
Chloe Harrison yes children do act out to get attention. That’s true, but that doesn’t mean they should get away with bad behaviour. I agree the best thing to do is help them find something they like, so they can put their focus onto something good. However when they are misbehaving, they still need to be corrected and told when they are wrong. Tell them when their behaviour is not acceptable, and then find ways to improve.
@@rebeccaeverett8957 no one ever talked about her behaviour being acceptable. but, 'chloe harrison' is right. there will always be a reason for kids acting up and as you can see in the video, she's scared, bless her
The Spires College Tribute FINALLY someone I agree with!!! I like you!!! 😁 I personally think that Parents and teachers have become more laid back with discipline nowadays, and that is probably why so many kids nowadays act so entitled, are sensitive and offended over everything nowadays. Kids and teens are so sheltered and wrapped up in cotton wool and nobody likes saying the harsh truth anymore!! Everyone has gotta sugarcoat things and be like “awww she needs love” etc. I mean yes...but she also needs discipline!! Kids need rules and discipline. So many people in the comments don’t realise this. (Although a lot of comments are from kids themselves anyway. lol).
The Spires College Tribute EXACTLY!! That was perfectly said!!! Not having boundaries really does cause confusion. She needs to learn when she is wrong. And yes giving her attention and love is only feeding into it! It’s only feeding into it and giving her what she wants, and the more you feed into something, the more they will do it again and again. This is why you should ignore them. I even saw this technique when watched supernanny on tv!! It’s called the naughty step/ naughty corner. The point of it is to remove them out the way and ignore them. By ignoring them, you are not giving into the attention they are trying to get. Kids and teenagers will test you. They test you on how far they can push. This is why it’s important to not give in and feed into it. People in these comments (mainly from kids) don’t realise and don’t understand because they have never worked with kids or studied about it. They are just going from their emotional response instead of thinking sensibly and rationally. I have been insulted and called all sorts of names in this comment section from kids who really do not understand. 😂 God..I am really not looking forward to this generation when they have kids...! From what I have noticed, a lot of people in this generation have become so soft and sensitive. 🙄 Discipline is an important tool right from an early age in order for them to grow and learn from things they have done wrong, and like you said...without it, it causes confusion which can manifest into anger and aggression. kids need to know when they have done something wrong.
ya she seems super hurtin like wow i would give her a hug and talk to her and comfort her or some cuz she doesn’t seem fine like everytime she argues with a teacher i can feel her pain in her voice
A hug is NOT gonna fix anyone’s problems nor is saying ‘i lOve YoU’ gonna improve someone’s situation. If she’s going through something bad, she needs to take action herself by telling someone/doing something about it.
Sahar technically they weren’t in the right, it was an opinion and opinions are neither right or wrong. They should of let them have their opinion without telling them to shut up. The person who put “pathetic” might not have even been talking about the girl in the video. They might of said it towards the original commenter. (If that makes sense.).
It's kind of disappointing to see how the teachers are reacting. They're saying 'I have no idea why she acts this way, its not okay.' im not saying her behaviour is okay, but its obvious to me and to everyone else, that shes most likely having issues with her parents.
*important info that nobody is even acknowledging* people are saying that the girl in the video might have anxiety and that she is hurting, and has problems going on, but when they are filming the programme, the kids with bigger roles (such as Katie) they are assessed by a psychologist, and they advise the team whether they are suitable for the process, and whether they are robust enough and strong enough to handle stuff. So if she was REALLY struggling, they would not of filmed her. They also go round to their house, have to get permission from parents, also given forms and letters. If she wasn’t mentally fit enough, they wouldn’t have filmed her
I was exactly like Katie. There is most likely going to be something emotional going on behind misbehaviour. Katie’s gonna go far in life I reckon there’s no doubt.
I personally think she already had confidence. 1) she agreed to be on the show 2) back- talking, speaking her opinions, sticking up for herself and showing her emotions 3) acting like the class clown and getting attention
You can tell the teachers do really care for her. She is definitely going through a lot at home & in her mind. The music teacher is such a lovely teacher
She deserved it tbh her attitude was so disrespectful and it wasn’t right for her to be rude to people who didn’t do anything wrong. I understand she might have problems going on, but it’s not an excuse to be rude to people, so I feel like karma came to get her. I mean, the camera men are the ones that decided to film it- and then decided to leave it in the programme. Sooo.. 🤷🏼♀️ but anyway, I hope she actually reflected on how she acted, because she was rude to people who were only doing their job.
Having teachers such as Mr Ritter who see and drive a potential in students is something heavily under-appreciated. People say "it's part of the job" but that's not always the case. This teacher didn't have to be patient with her and it's this kind of connection a teacher can have with a student that may be lacking and struggling that can help a student think "Actually, this person believes in me so I should try it". He deserves so much recognition.
Gabbii it’s a shame more teachers aren’t like this, and it’s also upsetting when they choose the wrong kids to believe in. I’ve seen many teachers believe in the same few kids year in, year out , but they haven’t progressed at all & It’s always the loud kids who don’t behave. I think teachers also need to recognise the potential in people who don’t necessarily shout out for ‘help’.
@@DanceMomsMad yess. It's very easy to fall under the radar, and seeing the attention people can get for being more 'naughty' almost makes you want to act out just because you can see it works😞
For me it’s different, teachers always pay attention to the popular kids and I always get picked on, whenever I try to stand up for myself I end up getting in trouble. I hate teachers like that. They don’t deserve their jobs and they don’t deserve to work with students
It’s a difficult issue for sure. As a TA, I often see students like her who disrupt classes to the point where teachers have no choice but to remove them. We know that they prob have personal issues but I doubt the other 29 other students don’t have issues of their own. We can’t be babysitters all day and take care of 1 student when there are others. Perhaps the government needs to start investing in psychiatric care and more safeguarding teachers. Teachers have enough on their plate
I feel really bad for this girl. I find teachers really annoying sometimes and don’t listen to you. I know there supposed to help you in life, but when a girl or a boy is in pain and has a rough life. But watching this video more and more I feel like some of these teachers are in my opinion, some of them are nice! She’s working so hard and I feel her. And the fact that her grandmother was someone she felt good and happy with can be very hard. Good luck to this amazing girl
Sam Turner - yes, correct, but if you notice, her life at home isn’t good, and they’re trying to help her gain confidence to do things. Her grandmother isn’t there anymore and it was so hard for her. Hope you understand :D
This nearly made me cry when I saw her cry. It’s because a lot of kids her age understand how she feels and as she’s going through a hard time it makes sense for her to cry and feel that way. I’m glad she’s found her passion ❤
@@maisieanderson-smith3151 I agree we r treated as if we r irresponsible and dont have a voice but if they acc listened they would know wat we go thru adults dont know life is different to how theirs was
Yes they can. They are adults who have taught for years and so they have "been through" the teenage years a number of times, including their own. Students need to help themselves if the help they are offered is going to be of any benefit. Life is about learning to fit in and adapting to a range of situations and that requires a whole range of skills. That is why the years at school are both long and important. It is not just "Me", teenagers need to learn about and appreciate the impact that their behaviour has on others. Each student is responsible for one person at school, themselves. Teachers have more levels of responsibility for more students for longer periods of time. That is why students must listen to what the experienced teachers say. This is not just an opinion, this is from my 33 years as a secondary school teacher with the last 30 of those in the same school. Trying to teach teenagers can be both the best and worst job in the World on the same day.
Crap blame teachers for bad behaviour that originated in the home, it's not their job to correct behaviour that should have been dealt with by good parenting, meanwhile children who want to learn are disrupted by disruptive classes.

To be quite honest, schools are limited in what they can do!! They aren’t there to constantly correct a student’s behaviour and constantly have to babysit them like little kids. Like cmon...they are in high school now. It’s not really a teacher’s responsibility to be constantly correcting behaviour and be a behavioural therapist. They are there to teach!!! Isolation may not be beneficial for the student, but it’s beneficial for the teachers and the rest of the class. It’s to remove the “problem” out of the room. Sorry but it’s the truth. If that student constantly wants to disrupt the class, sometimes the best thing to do is to remove them so everyone else has a chance to learn in the peace. Teachers are limited in what they can do, they are there to teach and to get kids an education, not to constantly get in disagreements, arguments and chaos with a student. It’s not fair on the rest of the class because of them. That is why schools use isolation. If a student carries on disrupting the class it’s best to remove them from mainstream school. Mainstream schools just don’t have the time
@@suepatterson2030 teachers are also there to help and support the kids inside and outside of school. And isolation is not always needed if the kid is going through stuff at home
@@suepatterson2030 i see your point however i feel as if they don’t try to help the student they are always watching out for them to do things wrong. In my school we did a test to see this and the kid who normally gets told off started talking and someone who doesn’t get told off started talking. The good kid got told to be quiet and the naughty kid went to isolation. I think people often can’t get it out of there head that they can change which is understandable but i think some people should be more understanding
that teacher needs to calm down. she was nowhere near smashing that window. I understand why she ran out and wanted to go home. She’s a teenage girl in a dark place and she needs somebody to talk to :)
The teacher does not need to talk in a calm voice, in fact that can make the matter worse for in the long term. It’s proven. Learnt it in child care. Right from an early age, when a child misbehaves, you have to talk in a strict firm voice- that way they know they are in trouble. If you talk calm and keep everything sweet- they aren’t going to take you seriously, and therefore the discipline becomes misunderstood and misleading. This is something that carries on through teen years. It is something that carries on throughout the years of life. This is why we know our right from wrongs, and when someone is happy with us, or angry with us. Now bringing this back to this situation, the teacher in the video did not shout, yell or get angry. So don’t exaggerate. All he did was talk in a firm strict way, which was correct.
She genuinely seems like such a sweet person once you get to know her. I’ve met people similar to that, hard or very loud and once you get to know them they’re like the kindest people you can meet
I must say they handled the situation extremely poorly. A girl like that should be treated carefully, and with respect. She understood what she’d doing, but the school system is putting her down. She said herself that it was nice to hear positive praise when she was so used to negativity. That is messed up, the fact that she was literally used to it is so terrible.
swear teachers think if someone waits outside, they will come back in with a whole new personality. like waiting outside aint gonna do anything💀 EDIT: since no one will listen to me, this is a JOKE!!!!! A JOKE EDIT: PLEASE GUYS I GET IT STOP EXPLAINING TO ME
Ikr!! 😂 I suffer from a lot of mental health issues and they seriously think 5 minutes outside the classroom is the equivalent to wet paper towels or an ice pack
It stops kids from being distracted in class and gives them a chance to learn (if the door has no windows). But yeah it does nothing really for the kid who's sent out.
Poor girl has been fighting a battle she didn’t ask for from the age of 7. Her acting out is a cry for help. Any other kid that feels they’re in the same position please know that you aren’t the problem. Seek help.

Kids who are susceptible to migraines could have a note to say so. But I suspect the tinted glasses are to avoid eye contact. And also good for her doing class though a migraine, gets more attention.
The teachers and staff here in Texas don’t care. Until one day, a student who was complaining about a migraine, collapsed, and died, in World Geography. Long story, but her family who cared very much, filed wrongful death suit with ISD, and won, stating liable. It brought many changes, and terminations!

@@iriswillowtree4690 hey, please tlel them. its not your fault, im sorry

Typical British school

JSI Studios her dad is someone I think she wants to speak to and the music teacher absolute madman

@@soundoffright8520 That proves how much he does care, nothing more.
He put in a lot more effort changing her classes multiple times and working to her favourites. There’s a lot of schools that don’t do anything remotely close to that.
Mr Ritter has nothing but good vibes it seems everyone loves him
She’s actually a really great singer🎤
When she was singing and the kids were laughing at her i started crying 😭
When?
@@erhhhh27 10:15
They weren't making fun, they were just surprised
They weren’t laughing at her, Ig she’s noticed as a troublemaking popular student and it’s teenagers, of course they’d make a laugh of it.
@@Metaltalk41 yes but one of the boys were mocking her and singing one of the lyric in a voice cracking voice ❤
Let’s be real, you didn’t search this up
thomas parker no dice, but you did 😂
lets be real, u didnt think your comment up
Nah I didn’t
No FYP
I was just going to comment this😂
i cried at her performance honestly. as someone who had a similar experience with teachers in school, feeling like I could never get anything right, having so much pent up emotion, like I couldn’t escape being what they thought I was. A “bad” kid or whatever. It’s really the worst thing to make a kid think those things about themselves. I still struggle a lot thinking about how unfairly I was treated when I was younger, and it’s nice to keep in mind how much authority adults have over kids. It can feel really powerless, being that age with no one on your side.
You can feel the pain in her signing , it was from the heart ! X
I didn't feel anything. It may because I can be very insensitive or my theory is right, that this is all made up.
@@norrisnuts6350 why are you under like all the comments complimenting her singing? jealous much?
@@grace-jl8sc 😂
@@grace-jl8sc complimenting? saying nice things about her singing, how is that being jealous?
@@leoscoo6135 i meant they were under all the comments of all the people who are complimenting her singing and that they were jealous because everyone was complimenting her but they were complaining about it
wow, her voice is really beautiful I can see her struggle though hopefully, music can be her guide.
they argue at sitting in isolation for 3 hours we have to do it from the minute we walk in to the end of the day
I had to do it for a week and a half when I got kicked out
We have to do it 24/7
Yeh same you don’t even get lunch or break
This episode is 5 years old
Bruh we got to do it for 2 days and when the school day is over we stay for an 1 hour
The music teacher is the only 1 that is a professional at his job and takes it seriously. He talks to her at her level. Great job
“She could be the worst behaved female”
*Says the guy named Mr. Hennessy*
Nobody talk about his name😂
Nah allow it he’s a calm guy
I dont think she's even close to being part of the "Worst Category" bad behaved females. Yeah she's a little disruptive, but that's about it as far as we see.
He been having to much henessy
My cousin is called Hennessy and he was a little shit when we were in primary school
I feel so bad for her constantly being stuck inbetween her mum and dad
im stuck as well :(
My dad left when I was 2 so don't feel bad guys !! I got it way worse :(
jr1beatz just because you’ve also been through it means we shouldn’t feel bad for her? Doesn’t work like that, bud
@@jrezzi1308 Just because you MIGHT have it worse, doesn't mean that we can't feel sorry for other people or ourselves. It's not just you in this world and you've gotta understand that.
@@jrezzi1308 that's what happens when there's no god in a marriage
She is just a young girl trying to find herself but doesn't realise boundary. Sometimes the most creative people get bored with the norm looking for more. Good luck to her and success
As soon as she started singing, I started crying. She’s got it for sure. She just needs the confidence to belt it out.
I thought exactly this!! Her voice is a little like my friend’s, absolutely beautiful but without the confidence to support it
@@littlelove13Exactly! Even listening to this a year ago, it still makes me teary. There is nothing nicer than listening to a sweet voice
Anyone thinking why they can just go home
DeruHD me haha
Behaviour school, for students who struggle with behaviour problems such as adhd, etc
it ain’t prison
eboniz yeah but since when was it allowed to pick and choose when you go home😂
@@neptunestardust In the UK, schools are not like prison. The only legislation that exist is to ensure a parent provides education for children above 5 - don't know where you're from, but here anyone can leave whenever they like.

Can we all please appreciate the music teacher honestly a good role model
I love singing. That last performance actually made me cry. It makes me feel amazing how singing is doing wonders like that to people. I feel like with peoples voice anything can happen. It’s a great feeling, really.
She’s in pain an the teachers aren’t understanding that. 😥
Who else felt proud of her even though they don’t know her 🥺
i had a kid in my class who was like her. she really acted out all the time but when me and and a friend were just messing around in the music rooms she would sometimes join us and she was so sweet. i don’t think she had anyone who was friends with her who would do it with her so she would just really quietly come in and just kind of sing along. at first it was kinda uncomfortable but then it always made me so sad because it was something she obviously enjoyed but was never pushed to succeed in. she ended up being kicked out and i don’t know where she is now but i hope she’s ok, she really had potential, just no support.
thats sad
I feel for her, it's definitely something bothering her as being yelled at triggers her emotions. Happens with me too due to my parents being separated and all, I wish her the best and I hope she now has someone that she can talk to
And especially the way she was acting about her mum,
People in her situation just need a week off school and with someone which doesn’t cause then to have a breakdown
Me too😭😭😭
She just wants people to understand her :( I can see in her eyes she’s upset
I feel her pain so bad when her grandma died. Even going into school a few days after is brave. When my gma died (63) i was told the same morning before school and i still went in. I didn't mourn her death properly and its ruined my life. Im so proud of her ❤
Such a good singer she should be proud of herself, she honestly enjoyed herself singing 💖😄
same same
What an amazing young woman, just a shame she doesn't realise just how talented she is.
She’s hurting and feels inadequate. I feel for her she just needs ways to release it all from her body. When we don’t deal with her emotions they come back to deal with us and I’m really inappropriate times. :/ until we learn ways to get it out of our body intentionally. I’m a teen life coach I wish I could help her out
I used to have a young persons life coach. :) she was so helpful. And I agree, it’s important to deal with emotions otherwise things progress and get worse. Although she was rude, and I think it’s important to be corrected and knowing when your behaviour is not acceptable.
