  • The DUMBLEDORE is a dual channel low to medium gain overdrive which emualtes the sound of the legendary Overdrive Special by Dumble.
It can be used as a medium overdrive or even as a clean boost because of ist transparency and it always sounds very natural and a tad sweet.
The DUMBLEDORE features an active 3-Band equalizer and one volume control for both channels, but each channel has its own gain control. The gain controls DRIVE and MORE interact when the second channel is activated to allow a harmonic change in gain.
The toggle switch allows you to chose between different mid frequencies. If your guitar sounds too muddy, just throw the MIDRANGE-switch to cut through the mix!
    FEATURES
DRIVE: controls the amount of distortion of the first channel
MORE: controls the amount of distortion of the second channel, interacts with the DRIVE control
BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE: active 3-band equalizer, MIDDLE-knob with neutral middle setting
    LEVEL: controls the overall volume
MID FREQ: sets the mid frequency of the MIDDLE-knob: low mid (center), mid (left), high mid (right)
DYNAMIC: internal supply voltage: 9V (left), 18V (right)
SELECT: channel select, LED is on when channel two is selected

Nice sound, did you have compared wheebo dumbledore to BB preamp? I am wondering which one is better for me ;)

It's a good sounding overdrive, but really nothing like a dumble. Dumbles have a weird eq in the preamp, that give the tone this thing lacks. The EQ flavours the amp to be dark with a subtle hint of upper mids. It also makes the amp respond really different to different guitars. Because of the strange EQ, different frequencies break up in different amounts at different gainstages. With humbuckers lower gain setting makes for a marshall like breakup and higher gain gives a fuzzlike tone. A strat at lower gainsettings gives it a blackface like tones, and higher gainsettings give a thick bluesy breakup.
I only trust a (very good clone of a) dumble to sound like a dumble. Check out Ceriatone, Fuchs, Glaswerks, VanWeelden, TwoRock, Bludo and Brownnote

I thought all Dumble amps were built to different specifications.
