How to check the OIL in a YAMAHA four stroke outboard + Latch Update!

- Опубліковано 25 лип 2018
- A brief video demonstration showing you how to check the engine oil in a Yamaha four stroke outboard. This is the 100 hours service. A simple but crucial step in caring for your outboard is to make sure you are checking the engine oil regularly, even four strokes have the tendency to burn oil believe it or not.
Recommended steps: Add bunny ears and run the motor for five minutes allowing the oil to warm, so that it flows accordingly.
Step 2: Tilt the motor half way up that all of the oil drains into the crankcase. Allow it to sit in this position for a few minutes.
Step 3: Let the motor down so that it's level.
Step 4: Locate the dip stick on the right side of the motor, pull the stick from the crank case and wipe with a rag.
Step 5: Put the stick back into the case and quickly remove. You should see that the oil is midway between the indicators.
If the oil is low, then add oil if it is high you may need to remove oil. If you enjoyed this easy tutorial, please give a thumbs up, subscribe and comment below. Thank you!

This looks extremely easy. Thank you for the info. Love your videos!
josh I want to thank you for the information def learned something new today.
Good tip. That's why i stick to kayaks, no oil to check. I'll charter you one day. You made that look easy.
Thanks for the good videos bro
Great video! Thanks for the tips. God bless!
Solid video brotha! Every boat should know how to do this 💯
Thanks Chris, simple but necessary to know.
Nice video
LAURIE H GREAT VIDEO . WELL DONE
Thank you kindly
Thanks bro..
Thumbs up! Thx!!!
Thanks for watching!
Glad you got your cowling off.. But when talking about your beautiful motor, your voice changed and sounded like ChrissyPoo..lol. Proof you been hanging together too much..lol. j/k Nice video and glad you mentioned the slant pistons do mean you burn some oil.. We probably don't check our oil as much as we should.. Great video and informative.. Always look forward to your videos.. Always your fan..
lol Rick. I figure I need to put out some simple maintenance videos.
I noticed the oil was at the top of the dipstick. Many say only fill to the half way point on the stick. Maybe that motor is "making oil" as many have that problem.
Capt. Joshua, I Finally got got it first, the thing out of place was your cowling coming off! 😅 I win, I WIN!!! lol
Seriously, congratulations on getting it off. Did they charge you for the repair or was yours still in warranty? I'd still be putting anti-seize on it. Informative video but not too fun without Chris around to joke about! 😕 I thought maintenance was the job of the First Mate anyways! ??? Be Well Buddy! 🙂 Tight lines and Happy Times! 🎣
I will be doing an out of place video soon I promise. They didn't charge me because my boat is under warranty. I probably will put something extra on it just in case but they say it wont happen again.
Did your motor make oil....and for how long
Hey Josh, I have an F150 and F225's, was told NOT to run them on muffs. Does tilting the motor up some put enough pressure on the pump to keep it from burning? Thanks, I enjoyed the video as always!!

Magic
Oh Yeah, Sorry I forgot; 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Dino
Your car is 4 stroke also
Hey Josh I love your content. I have a 2017 f115lb. Sometimes cruising along my temp/ buzzer goes off. Boat doesn't go into limp mode. Turn key off and re crank boat may not come back on for an hour. Last year stopped on it's on. Didn't hear it all summer. Doing it again. Help Sir. Any advice.
but why only half way up the dip stick? makes no sense to me... why you would design a dip stick that would lead someone with common sense to over fill the oil.
Wow. If you don't know how to check oil
... Maybe you should stay in the meat dept at publix behind a cart.
Many don't, that is why it's called learning.
Literally in the operators manual it says to check the engine oil level cold for accurate reading and the Yamaha manufacturer videos say the same thing. Who runs a motor before checking the oil lol
Good, if you already know. I'd probably stop searching on UA-cam lol
Ugh no.
Ugh yes
