  • Thanks for watching my video! I'm a 14 year old guitarist named Ayla Tesler-Mabe, and I have been playing the guitar for around two and a half years. This is my cover of Pink Floyd's incredible masterpiece Time, off of The Dark Side of the Moon. I added a bit of improv too :-)
    Feel free to check out my band (Ludic!):

      She's incredible. But every time I see one of these young talents I have to wonder, can they write music? Can they come up with things on their own that stand on their own? That's the important question, IMO.

    David Gilmore is one of my alltime favorite guitarists. He has some of the most iconic leads in the history of rock n roll. He never tries to overplay with speed, but is all about finesse and emotion. Usually the shredders get all the glory, but too me, Gilmore has a more unique style that sets him apart from everyone else. I couldn't imagine their songs being without his leads.

    Her recent version of "Since I've Been Loving You" brought me here.
    This is VERY good, but she's improved greatly in only a year.
    I am in awe of her improvisational intentions. For someone that young, only playing for a couple years or so. Extraordinary.
    It's wonderful watching someone who I'm sure will be a "name" down the road in her "formative " years.

    I am 60 years old and have been a floyd fan since 71. I am also a musician and have a pretty good ear for great playing. Anything David Gilmour plays sounds deceptively simple. However, countless people try to pull it off but it is rare someone can do it justice. This girl has an "old soul" and pulls it off in spades. I am sure David himself would give it a standing ovation. There is something with the timing. I have always said Gilmour makes every note he plays bleed all over the floor. It is an emotional connection with the instrument and few posses it.

    This crusty cranky curmudgeonly old guitar rocker of 42 years says AWESOME !
    Simply superb outstanding musicianship at such a young age is breathtaking to see hear & absorb. Ayla, you seem ego-free about your precocious precious innate uncommon guitar talent, stay that way. It makes you even more admirable to any person who knows even the basics of guitar & general musicianship & what is required to achieve such performances as this virtuoso effort ! Bravo !
    An Australian young lad, by the name of Ray Beadle 16yrs old was the last teen guitarist I ever recall in living memory with anywhere remotely near the truckloads of ability, fretboard knowledge, beautiful syncopation tonal skill & raw delivery with effortless ease who truly totally was the last musical prodigy whom blew my brain right out of my skull - over 20 years ago that was. I feel that really, you don't know realise or comprehend yet how brilliant you are... Ayla, this makes you even all the more incredible which I'd thought impossible at first take. AWESOME. Ray Beadle, eat ya heart out ! There's a new guitar wizard but a wizardESS on this planet Earth... and Ayla Tesler-Mabe is her name. Peace repect & sincere best wishes.

Many say the drugs brought out the creativity in them and without the drugs it could not of been done. Sad but for many famous musicians its true. Many or most of them are dead now, died an early age. Please don't ask me to name them, you probably can figure out who I'm talking about. Hint Hint Hendrix .... Ewan ET judging by the tone, stretchy strings.

      Watch again. She uses two and sometimes three fingers to bend some notes. An old trick even Don Felder of The Eagles uses at times.

    Seems like you were hitting some "sour" notes in the intro. At least stuff that's not in F#m which is the key. Just saying.

    • @AylaGuitar
      @AylaGuitar  7 років тому +64

      Just based off of what you said, I'd guess that you probably don't like jazz or fusion very much then, haha. I personally love it when people play outside, unexpected, or I suppose you could call them "sour" sounding notes, but it certainly is an acquired taste. Thanks for your input, though. :)

    • @TheRestlessAtlantic
      @TheRestlessAtlantic 7 років тому +3

      Yeah it was pretty clear you were playing with some notes in F#maj just for fun in the intro. Great feel!

      I think his point is that you've done so many songs where you've played EVERY note exactly as on the recording, e.g., Since I've been loving you. It did throw me a bit also. Still impressed to the max though. You da man.

      I think they are in Lydian scale. What I have to notice is that in the solo she sounds like 14, there are certainly things she has not lived yet to have an influence to her tone. She is great though, so much work done. And she surely has a great ear.
