      The Lotus Esprit's excellent handling came from just such a tunnel/backbone running down the center of the car. GM owned Lotus for awhile. This chassis reminds me of the Esprit.

    Man, do you know anything about Corvettes? I don't know if I misunderstood you or you just don't know what you are talking about. The ONLY Corvettes that did not have a high center console is the C1 & C2! The C8 console is right on par with the last few generations! The only big difference is the climate control bar, whatever you want to call it. FYI the center exhaust started on the C5. Why would the side exhaust be controversial? Up until you, I've not heard or seen anything talking about the location of the exhaust exit. How does it look like the engine is hooked around 180 degrees from the C7? If it were, it would be a transverse mounted engine. Meaning the engine exhaust and cylinders would be lined up left to right. It looks like and it is a longitudinal mounted engine as all Corvettes have been.

    When you begin to fry the brakes with a Brake-By-Wire e-booster system, the smell is your really your only feedback, even if their pad temperature model is spot on (which would be impossible). If the brake temperatures are neglected for long enough (for example on track) and the fluid actually boils (rare but does happen) then the system will most likely (should) set a leak detection fault. Once a leak detection is set, we get nice things like circuit isolation and no boost. Cheers!

    From a engineering perspective its a novel idea that could very well be superior to ALL other chassis design. The center spline and all other supporting structure leads into a TRIANGULATION design that is repeated throughout. Very interesting.

    • @CarGuy11

      @@CarGuy11 Its enough space for a two seater sportscar, and if you notice the interior is a cockpit design to a extreme. GM has no problem incorporating new technology into their lineup that is world reknowned to a extreme. More than the most exotic companies, and i believe you are viewing one of these advancements. A bare bones C7 dosent have a chassis anywhere near this high tech. Look at each corner carefully, and you see structural Ribbing. I dont think i have seen it to this extreme before. This aluminum chassis is light years ahead of the last one.

    • @CarGuy11
      @CarGuy11  5 років тому

      @@thiosemicarbizidebenzoylal2921 The C7 had same center tunnel & aluminum chassis. Interesting; I thought that placing the engine closer to the drive wheels should reduce the weight since you don't need no stinking power loss of the longer FE/RWD driveshaft.....Instead a 2020 C8 Z51 DCT weighs about 200 + lbs more than a 2019 C7 Z51 8-auto....One of the big weight problems? The new tranny weighs in close to 350 lbs! Or about 100 less than the engine....Crazy!....However, you can't deny the 'magical' acceleration. And a base C8 with only the Z51 will set you back $65K while at the same time only being matched by a $122K 911 Carrera S (w/out power seats!) . The C8 tested in the article below is a heavy-optioned 3LT Z51, meaning that a lighter, basic 1LT with the Z51 should do a tick better, plus it has power seats!. Imagine that, $65K and the nearest competition is almost twice as much! Obviously more people can afford the $65K than the 911 Carrera S.
