I have found glue traps to be quite effective. Put peanut butter and ham or cheese in the center of the pad. Works well. Gives the mice a chance to regret their life choices. I am NOT concerned about the disease spreading and ugly creatures suffering. Imagine all the suffering a mouse causes when it dies in your walls.
I prefer the snap traps that takes out any anxiety about suffering. Suffering for rodents doesn't give me pleasure but I do smile when a trap goes off. Staying on top of the problem in the fall is the best approach.
I've used glue traps and first off they are way too small. You mostly get them stuck to the edge of the trap. I've trapped mice only to have them escape within an hour. Then they drag those traps all over and can pick up dirt and become ineffective. I used mine in the garage. What are you supposed to do with a mouse stuck to a glue trap? I would throw them in a large bucket of water and drown them if I found one alive. Glue traps are a PITA and I always get glue all over my hands.
Once had a landlord who put out rat bait poison. It killed them alright. Unfortunately, they died in the walls in the Arizona heat. Soon had a nasty smell and horrible flies in all the apartments.
I saw a rat in my garage last night put a sticky trap the rat moved it it's not in the same position I left it in. I want to try this but dealing with the heat in California I don't want that fuckin smell.
@@rodm2345 glue boards can leave lasting trauma when you see the mice attempting to chew off its own leg to get free. I've seen them as they used them in a grocery store back room years ago. It just seems very inhumane. At least snap traps are quick.
Pest controlling your house and property is never ending; some places are just much worse than others. The first step should always be placing bait boxes outside around the foundation of the building and poisoning them before they come inside. They love walking along walls, crawling in holes and will quickly find their way in. The crawl space is another hot spot to poison them. Trapping is ineffective in beating real infestation as they are high maintenance, and you'll never keep up.
That method is only safe if you can keep the poison away from other animals and kids. And the method used is relative to your infestation problem. In your case, you seem to have a huge problem. But others don't. So live trapping, as long as you stay on top of it, may work. If you wait until they start making babies, then the real trouble ensues.
@@Yosetime Cats and dogs are my main concern, but they can fart and burp. Eating this won't affect them. Kids won't be harmed by this, either. My neighbor used to mix baking soda in water as an antacid and drink it daily. I tried it once, and it tastes horrible. I'm not sure why you think this is dangerous to kids. It will taste like crap, and doubt they'd eat much. Mix some up and give it a try. You'll see.
If you keep your home clean, they'll go to someone else home. I'm in a high rat population bay area city & had rodents before. Found droppings over a year ago. There are none now. Just gotta sweep up the food the kids drop, keep trash to a minimum, wee use smaller bags like grocery bags, which keep a low amount of trash in the home, amd are great to put a stinky diaper in and getting rid of it right away. It might cut down on some of the activity, but living in the woods, they will keep coming. Put the container under a pile of sticks outside your tent. Other animals like raccoons, skunks, and possums might walk off with the container if they find it. Don't leave it in the open or in your tent.
I've been using this method but I been using baking soda and brownie mix. I make it 90% baking soda and ten percent brownie mix.... I been doing this for a month and my mice have now invited all their friends over to the chocolate party and have gained a good two ounces in the last month

@@tamiajackson Pet food staying all the time attracts mice. I have a small dog and a cat. Recently, cat is not very much interested in catching mice. Because of their food, there are more mice and their feces appearing. I try to hide those food after dark. Whenever the cat requests, I offer her food. Recently, I caught 3 mice in the metal traps. When I released a mouse 2 miles away from my house, he run directly toward the direction of my house. I caught him again and released 5 miles away. They can come back easily if they are released near my house. Whenever I release them, they come to me first begging "I've known your family. I've been living with you such a long time. Please take me home." But they realize it is not possible, then they run to a field.
Since your mice love pet food, this is what I'd do. Take a plastic bag and put a handful of dry pet food in it and sprinkle baking soda in the bag. Shake up the bag and coat the food with baking soda. Take something like a coffee can and cut a mouse size hole in the lid near an edge. Pour the baking soda pet food into the bottom of the can. Lie the can on its side with the hole in the lid close to the floor so the mice can crawl in the hole easier. Put the can near where the mice were eating your pet food. Feed your pet meals instead of leaving bowls of food lying out for the mice to free-feed. Store your pet food in a closed container up high where the mice can't reach it. This method will help you a lot!
Have you ever seen what adult rodents do to chicks or rabbit kits? "Humane" is not on my agenda! This will be the poison at the bottom of my bucket, less work for me when it comes tike to check the trap.

Mix it with honey flavored cornbread mix Jiffy has one very inexpensive and mix it with baking soda put it in a small container and the rat or mice is as good as dead
I read that cornmeal also gives mice gas and kills them. That's probably why it worked so well. I had some cornmeal in my cupboard that mice chewed a hole in. Surprisingly, they didn't eat much or come back. I threw it away of course after I found that.

There limbs aren't ripped off, do some research. It's illegal if its to that point. Usually it's extraordinarily small, might not even a heart beat. It's not a baby it's a speck. They're just kinda scrambled up and removed. You're not thinking of the other side here. The women getting those abortions could have had anything happen to them to get to that point. The foster system isn't the best option either. Most of those children get abused in various ways and don't even find a forever home. Some of those women were raped. It's not fair for them to carry the child of a man who forced himself upon them. If you were in that situation I doubt you'd want that thing inside you either. It's not all just grown women that can 'get over it' some times it's literal teenagers. I beg you to do some research because being pro-life is more cruel than you could possibly imagine.

they did that to me until i got a bucket with a lid did a big hole put cooking oil and food on the top of the bucket and because they cant run anywhere they fall in the bucket of oil running around in it lol it was funny but disgusting just moved in and ended up having mice for 3months until i came up with the oil bucket because i was sick of it had to put everything in containers to stop them of eating my food lol
I tasted it myself and it tastes salty. The sugar doesn't moderate the soda very much. I found they are not attracted to salty.

Unnecessary suffering… who cares
But what about the rats feelings and the feelings of the lunatics that are trying to give human rights to animals and treat humans like animals?
I agree the rodents carry nasty germ causing disease. Baking soda flour sugar works but bait traps are better so the mice are found and no smell. Lucky me live close to soy bean field.

a very good mother like approach........harsh but fair 😀
Soon had a nasty smell and horrible flies in all the apartments.
my mom did the same and it was bad
I saw a rat in my garage last night put a sticky trap the rat moved it it's not in the same position I left it in. I want to try this but dealing with the heat in California I don't want that fuckin smell.

Narrowing down to where they enter then plugging the hole with steel wool. It doesn't have to be much of an opening for them to use.
You'll see.
he must work for the poison company, getting paid off trashing the environment
If you keep your home clean, they'll go to someone else home. I'm in a high rat population bay area city & had rodents before. Found droppings over a year ago. There are none now. Just gotta sweep up the food the kids drop, keep trash to a minimum, wee use smaller bags like grocery bags, which keep a low amount of trash in the home, amd are great to put a stinky diaper in and getting rid of it right away. I prefer traps. With poison they will die inside your walls and etc and stink up your house. If you have them in your home.
I’m currently using poison bait stations now & I keep finding them dead on the floor all around my house 🤷♀️
Traps will do that too if you forget to check the traps or if rats eat each other and leave remains.
That’s my problem now and I can’t figure out how to get the smell out
Smell usually leaves in like 10 days
It seems like you would end up with ants and other problems. If you sugar, I’ve heard that cornbread mix, or even just cornmeal, mixed with baking soda as a dry mix will do.
I'm a homeless guy living out in the woods and the rats have drilled holes through my tent eating all my food I know I'm on their land but damn it they've cost me more money than I can afford now it's war I tried setting other little traps but these mice around my tent are like Einstein's they are too smart for their own good and mine they got to go on human I'm human on baking soda

If you can get free food or anything given to you that rodents like, try to find a container and mix baking soda with it. It might cut down on some of the activity, but living in the woods, they will keep coming. Put the container under a pile of sticks outside your tent. Other animals like raccoons, skunks, and possums might walk off with the container if they find it. Don't leave it in the open or in your tent.

Those metal live mouse trap does not work very much. I have 5 of them. So far, only a mouse entered in those traps.

I have mouse x and it’s bringing numbers down. 🙃 I also have plastic traps that kills them on impact
@donnah.7346 I'm gonna do this but imma make the dog food into a powder. Wish me luck!

Traps are best for locating them when they die (they are in the trap). Rodenticides are good when you don't care about smell if you CAN'T find them. Both need precautions. Pets, kids, and stupid adults can get harmed if things are not done right. You have to read the product label and use common sense. Most people have little. These are the same people who cry for rats being killed while supporting abortions.
