Impressive weight for a hammock setup, gives us hammocurious ultralighters pause for thought! Nice one. 👍

The weight and extra set-up and break down time is worth it for the comfort.

Ha. Dolly Sods killed my Sawyer too. I wonder if yours was the beaver dam area as well. I swore never again and bought the MSR Guardian that will open up all water sources for us from now on.

We carry the same knife ( no7) I also have the same very light very cheap stove, but will be switching to the soto windmaster due to fuel efficiency - you got to carry the fuel you use.

Body Glide is a lifesaver. I’ve been working on my feet for 20 years now, walking between 10 and 15 miles a day at work. The day I discovered body glide I never looked back. I have baseball player legs, so things rub.
If I could be an ambassador for them I would.

Nice video. Only suggestion is connect your satellite device to your body - I carry mine on my waist pack. If you have to dump your pack at a stream crossing, you’ll appreciate having that device with you.

Thanks. It's a nice core of gear to start from and then I can add in different pieces of gear as conditions call for it.

Nice load out, my gear setup is very similar to yours and has worked really for me during 3 season trips!! Awesome videos!! Happy hiking 🙂

Thanks. Yeah this system works well for me. I just swap some gear in an dout depending on conditions.

I’m digging that pack! I’ve been using a MLD Exodus for a couple years. I’d really like to go to a 40l or smaller pack for 3 season backpacking.

I have been liking it so far. Its perfect for shorter, warmer weather trips. I'm going out later this week and I'm probably going to use the arc blast. Forecast looks a bit chilly and rainy so I need to take some more clothes. No point in being cold or unsafe just to save a couple pounds lol. I think it was close to freezing upstate last night.

@@HikeIntoTheSunset I had frost this morning here in central PA.

Umm, I think it's the helium 2. I've had it since like 2020 and even then I got it at a nice discount because it was older. People give it a bad rap but I have seriously never gotten wet wearing it. Can't say the same thing about a more expensive gor-tex shell I have.

Good point about metal gaiter-clips. One wonders why they aren't nylon-clips? Nylon's good enough for tents, backpacks, etc., why not for gaiters?

Nice choices. Surprised you stayed under 10 lbs. That seemed like a lot of gear for that weight.

Now add 6.5 lbs for fuel canister, a couple of days of food, and at least a liter of water.

    • @HikeIntoTheSunset
      @HikeIntoTheSunset  Рік тому +1

Yep. I think last trip with this Loadout I was around 18lbs all said and done. I don't obsess over weight but I try to keep it sensible for the type of trip I will be going on.

Wonder what % of corpses of lost hikers are found with a functioning GPS emergency communication device. 🤔

I'll take it for sure. This is the ideal warm weather setup. If I need to add in more clothes or longer food carry I'll use a different pack.
