I just bought the black hooded for $172 USD on Amazon, sold by Amazon. More than 50% off MRSP.

Ha. Dolly Sods killed my Sawyer too. I wonder if yours was the beaver dam area as well. I swore never again and bought the MSR Guardian that will open up all water sources for us from now on.

Awesome content buddy. Why won't the map on my i phone 11 stay open when using.Stays on for 30 seconds then goes to screen saver until i open it again. My progress is being tracked from start to finish but want it on the screen for the ride.Is plugged in and charging while riding. Is it a i phone setting or the app?Stays open when using Google maps till the trip is over why not Alltrails i wonder.

Lol I have acid reflux, it's a digestive problem that a lot of people have and it's hell trying to sleep flat, I need my upper torso elevated so hammocks are truly a God sent for me

If you start where I did at the end of loyalsock Trail it's the mileage I said in the video. I've tracked it on garmin multiple times. If you start somewhere on the actual loop and do that it will be less. It's a few miles each way on the tail section if you start where I do.

I just did the double loop over the night of July 4, 2024 for my first ever overnight backpack. It was a great hike for a beginner and got me acclimated to carrying a 30 pound backpack for 8 to 10 miles a day. I went counterclockwise on both loops and stayed at the shelter. There were a few places I got off the trail because it is overgrown and blazes can be obscured. It is overall very well blazed. There are places where the blazes are the only way to follow the trail so they are critical. On 95% of the trail, you can see the next blaze from each blaze you pass. Your advice about turning back and finding your way back to the last blaze is critical. Once I did that without wandering aimlessly and not paying attention, I stayed on course.

Thanks for making this, one suggestion if you could overlay distances when you speak that would be great!

I have and do use the BRS when appropriate. As an engineer, I know that burning 1 gram of butane in air always produces the exact same energy and heat. Efficiency tests are all bs. If you turn up any stove too far you are blowing flame waste fully into space. Some open burners may be less affected by wind. Heat exchanger fins always 30 to 50% more efficient, but have some weight and bulk.

Hey dude thanks. I was wondering why it says I got zero clicks 😂😂 I will have to check it out. Side note do you think it hurts someones credibility to have affiliate links like that? I bought all this stuff with my own money and it's the gear I use and recommend. But people still question if you have affiliate links.

Curious how often you see rattlesnakes? Might be a good question for Dan also. I have never ventured west of the state capital, but I am looking to this year as it gets a bit warmer.

Sure do. I was on Ridge road, just turn onto Grove hill Rd from route 120 and it will eventually turn into Ridge Rd. The kiosk I parked at I believe was at the beginning of pepper hill trail. If you look at the dcnr map you will see it. It the brooks run division map. www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateForests/FindAForest/Elk/Pages/Maps.aspx Thanks for watching.
