Matt sounding like Steve Jobs introducing the iPhone back in 2007. I’m really excited about this product and how it’s going to shake things up in the industry. Great job guys!!!
It's like a pizza with the lot - but for tuners and race car builders! Haltech's new flagship - NEXUS R5 combines the functionality of a power distribution module, a data logger, a dual channel wideband controller and a brand new, state-of-the art engine management system in one powerful device we call a VCU (Vehicle Control Unit). This video is just a broad overview of the product, giving you the basic run-down on the specs and features. We will produce separate videos explaining each of the functions in the near future. If you have questions about this product - please leave them in the comments below and we'll try to answer them in the next video:) -------- NSP Software Walkthrough: ua-cam.com/video/s663JqYK1es/v-deo.html
Holy honking moly! That thing is the MUST HAVE unit for anyone doing a "built not bought" vehicle! If this thing had been out when BOM decided on how to wire and control Binky they would have gone for it without blinking.
Could it be used to control electronic differentials? Like having wheel speed sensors on each wheel with front, center, and rear electronic diffs and be able to make like a map/table to control them. (Like a Subaru DCCD that uses the accelerometers and the steering angle but would customizable and controllable) Can't wait to see all the awesome things people will use this for.
This may be the first. But be sure it will most surely not be the only one. All the other big pllayers are researching and developing competing products. The integration that a product like this provides to an end user is unrivaled (currently) outside of bespoke teir-1 motorsports applications (think F1 / WRC / WIC.) Just 1 Question: Did you finally include an onboard Scope? A key feature your Adaptronic line has that is sorely missing from the elite ECU's
What does automatic transmission control do on the NEXUS R5 and is it for specific vehicle or universal? This product completely replace the ECU lines? Thanks!
I do have a question about brake light turn signal function on the R5. Can a single output be utilized to operate 2 different functions? Hence change brake light to flashing turn signal. I’ve done this with other pdm’s using logic operations but can’t seem to find that in nsp software. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Sounds like an amazing piece of technology but what kind of price point can we expect this to run ranging from base model to one with the complete wiring harness?
The NEXUS R5 unit is not intended to replace any single Elite ECU, but rather the intention is to expand our range to suit a broader market of racers. Haltech won't be resting on our laurels with the NEXUS R5 though. We have big plans to continue to innovate, develop and update - There will be updates to the Elite series, there will be updates to the iC-7 and there will be new products. As the 80's one hit wonder rock band Timbuk 3 would say, "Things are going great, and they're only getting better... The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades". Great Idea on using VCU!! How can I develop an ECU for an ABS ie Antilock Braking System? Or Can I use a VCU for my ABS ? Do you know the circuit diagram for the same?
So can I control an automatic transmission with it? Looking a solution for running an EJ20X with a 5spd auto along with the 4wd functions (Gen IV SubaruLegacy, has quad avcs, amongst other things that make it brilliant but hard to control)
@@haltech Cool! Is there more info or documentation on that feature somewhere? I *was* going to have to run two connected megasquirt ECUs to get what I wanted (MS2 + MS3 in a CAN would get me everything I *needed*, including torque limiting on shift, but there's a big '?' over proper control of the centre diff lockup clutch)
will there be a product that looks like/similar to the c1212 dash from motec be available from haltech? If so, gonna just ditch the motec stuff. They are making things more complicated When things are already complicated. I like this r5. Pls have a new nexus dash that is same size like the c1212, i will grab this new r5 and dash in no time.
The R5 has 12 ignition outputs. Really curious as to what engine runs 3 sparks per cylinder? For more specs see our ECU comparison chart here: www.haltech.com/ecu-buyers-guide/
The KV8 is just an ECU it does not include a Power Distribution Module, which the R5 does. So yes, we think it is better but it is also a different product - combining an ECU and PDM in one box, using one software to control it. If you want a truly unbiased opinion though you really need to ask someone who has used both.
Given that there's no shortage of 1000hp, seriously quick street cars out there we would have to say... No, you're not wrong:) Inappropriate - maybe. But not wrong.
Wireless up and down, current monitoring, body functions, scalable fusing!?!? This is next level.
Even at €3250.00 (base) it's still far cheaper than competitive products that offer everything this does!
@@angus3963 where did you see one for that cheap?
Would have loved to be part of the development of this VCU, looks like the engineers had free reign. Amazing work guys keep it up.
I was thinking the same thing. Always fun to see what teams can do when you loosen the chains a bit.
Guess im working a lot of overtime. I absolutely dont need this.... but damn i want it.
Or just sell a kideny 🤷🏻♂️
Yet again Haltech pushing the boundaries, great work. Can't wait to see this being used in an application.

You are quite right about the Steve Jobs thing. Which gives us an idea...
@@haltech Please don't tell us you're moving production to China...
Hehe.... no, we won't be doing that, but you might be onto something about forcing Matt to wear a turtleneck for the next video:)
@@haltech That I am cool with, get him to do a sexy pose with one too!
Haltech please don’t stop at the turtle necks, have to do the jeans and some New Balances. Lol
I will probably never need this, but daaaaamm son! Looks the goods, hats off to the engineers!

spicy bit of kit that guys. great job on the development!
My elite 2500 is so jealous. Damn I want one badly. Adjusting goals lol. Thanks Haltech. Keep up the great work!
Wow that thing is OP! Great work from great aussie company🇦🇺👌
Finally I was wondering why all the functions couldn't be operated by 1 unit 💪
Amazing! Bravo Haltech 👏
Racing technology has advanced so much it’s amazing
Revolutionary! Been waiting for something like this.

just hearing all the features i want one in my car already hahaha

Great looking product guys! Would love to get my hands on one at one point.

Call me a Noob but does the Nexus R5 work with an Automatic Transmission?

The R5 will integrate with the Bosch ABS.
How does this compare to the maxxecu in terms of a drag bike
Perfect for our project if it could do GDI
Wow almost sound like you can ditch your factory ECU and most if not all your electronics 🤔🤔🤔🤔
That's the goal!
The only thing I can think of is the ABS control.. Other than that, yeah, the R5 does it!
Mind=blowen
Will you explain how you hook up the starter in the Nexus?
